What’s with the JUNK crafted sets in clock city?

I'd rather have that they add some "fun" sets or handy crafting sets, with major expedition as 3 items, and 5 items stuff like extra harvesting nodes. or a treasure hunter set, which makes footprint to the next treasure/lockbox/trove.
Or a set which gives bonus on pickpocketing.
or a set which gives you extra swim speed.. not really usefull but atleast fun

(I know some of the things people use addons for, but would be nice to have as a cherry set in the game)

Well, I’ve been running Axiom and Julianos on my lowbie Magicka Sorc and having fun with that (see below).

Remember they introduced the Daedric Trickery set back in Morrowind ... which gives you a random major buff.

I would use niche sets like this for variety when doing certain tasks. I already run a combination of Night's Silence (5-piece) and Night Terror (3-piece) on my nightblade when I'm feeling naughty and want to farm a bunch of owned containers or run thieve's guild quests. You're virtually undetectable and can move at normal speed while sneaking. Quite a nice pairing.

For your above mentioned 'treasure hunter' set, my suggestion would be to make the chests glow, keen-eye style, when you're within 20/30 meters, or improve the quality of loot by one degree - ie simple chests become intermediate, advanced become master, and master has a chance at dropping a gold-quality item from that zone's overland sets, including jewelry.

Crafting-centric sets would be nice too.

    Master Herbalist:
2 pieces - Adds five minutes to any consumed beverage
3 pieces - Adds five minutes to any consumed food
4 pieces - Harvesting any plant or fungus node grants major expedition increasing your movement speed by 30% for 20 seconds.
5 pieces - Harvesting any plant or fungus node grants double resources.

    Armor of the metallurgist
2 pieces - reduces material costs by 10% when crafting any blacksmithing item
3 pieces - improves chances at extracting tempers when deconstructing looted blacksmithing armor and weapons
4 pieces - 50% chance to return all materials when deconstructing player-created blacksmithing armor and weapons
5 pieces - 10% reduction in temper costs to improve crafted or looted armor or weapons.

    Master Baiter
2 pieces - Doubles amount of fish that can be caught from a single fishing location
3 pieces - 25% chance to salvage bait following successful cast
4 pieces - 50% increased chance to catch "rare" fish
5 pieces - Improved chance to extract perfect roe when filleting caught fish

Just a few that would be entirely different than what most sets are targeted towards now.

I really like your ideas here. I was thinking of working out some sets in another forum post

Feel free to start that discussion and I'll gladly chime in. We might be living a pipe dream, but at least we'll have each other! lol

@Feric51: I really love that idea! So do you make these special armor "Crafting" sets, 9 trait sets to increase the value of maxed out crafters?

I really don't get why people think hybrid builds are bad for PvE.

Weapon damage is generally (or was) more accessible than spell damage, and some guy in PvP used Pellinals to stack something like 6k spell power. He made a 1-shot heavy attack staff build. Also posted some record PvE numbers with a modified version.

If anyone who has made Axiom would see if ZoS considers WW/Vamp "class abilities" I would appreciate it.

Flat stat boosts are actually really valuable in PVP. A magicka build gets a lot out of an extra thousand stam in terms of access to block and dodge roll, and stam builds get more use out of their utility skills with the extra magicka.

Other sets are designed so that they can be used just as well on a Magicka build as a Stamina one. They may not be the best sets for those builds all of the time, but they are a niche choice that let people do interesting things.

As far as crafted sets go, we already have Hundings and Julianos as top tier crafted sets. For any new DPS set to be amazing in the eyes of the community, it would have to beat out those sets, and given that they only give flat stats, and not mechanical bonuses, all you are really getting is powercrepe.

One man's junk is another man's treasure.

Seriously. What one dislikes greatly there is likely someone who really thinks the set is cool.

    This.

For example: I really like the Innate Axiom set. It gives a nice offensive boost to builds that rely primarily on class skills to do damage. Very handy. So not sure what's not to like about the new sets.

Half the stuff on the set is useless... the weap and stam boosts are useless to magik user and vice versa. How is that good?

I use on my Magblade, granted.. i'd have loved to get 5part shackle breaker work with it... would have been great mix build set.

I actually was using it on my Magplar (solo) but it meant extra block, and abit ...laughable? block and roll she need when off tanking world bosses.

If your running Vet/Trails content, or gotta have max dps for that leet skills.. i guess the sets are junk. I don't do trails or vet content. So sets are fairly awesome to me.

Pure builds have loads of sets already including all the end game sets, I think it's okay if we let hybrids have a few more.

This. There's only so many combinations of set bonuses available, so it's probably not easy to come up with something new for each DLC. :)
They could always stop adding new sets every DLC? I mean really it's getting stupid at this point.

To stop getting 'useless' crafted sets with each DLC is easy ...ZOS could just stop making DLCs ... problem solved. Or, better yet, play the base game only, don't buy any DLCs and don't be an ESO subscriber ... that way you don't have to concern yourself with the quality of any crafted set in any existing or future DLC.

Now there’s some real insight, lads!

fortified brass is so good for light or medium armor users in pvp. just because the set isnt good for.pve doesnt mean its useless

shacklebreaker doesnt look too appealing for pve but its a very popular set in pvp
