Fake role, it's not about "we're doing fine", it's about fairness

I have queued as a tank with my DPS/healer in the past for normal/vet dungeons, but it was for specific dungeons, I used a taunt (for vet – on normal things die too fast), and I never had any issues. I understand it’s a nuisance for other players to have the boss in their face unexpectedly, especially if they are low level, so I mostly do it when farming with preformed groups, and the other members are aware. For this reason, I don’t mind when people queue as a tank as long as they kill things quickly on normal, and keep aggro on vet. I’ve queued as my actual role for the event, because I figured there'd be a lot of potential for mishaps, but so far thankfully there weren’t any problematic runs, even though there were fake tanks in a few of them.

One thing I’d like to note is that queuing as a tank when a DPS who can kill things fast, does not entirely absolve a person from responsibility. A recurrent theme in this thread and similar ones is that ‘the other group members might die, but I kill everything fast , so at least we finish the run quickly’, but that does not take into consideration the fact that if the group had an actual tank, then these people might not have died, and therefore won’t waste soul gems and have repair costs, etc. So if you do queue as tank with your DPS, keep an eye on the rest of the group, because by changing your role you are partly responsible for what happens to them. I was in a run earlier with my DPS (queued as DPS), and got in a group of <50 players without an actual tank (a lvl23 player had queued with both tank/DPS roles selected); as a result when the other members were getting aggro their health was yoyo’ing all over the place, so I had to keep casting vigor to keep them from dying, even though it wasn’t my responsibility. Just something to keep in mind when running as a tank with your DPS.

It's a normal, it doesn't need a tank or a healer. Self heals + dps is perfectly capable of completing. Don't make a mountain of a mole hill.

    Then queue DPS.

    Dont be entitled.

It's not being entitled. There is nothing wrong with people queuing up for normals with roles that they aren't specced out as. Normals have 0 mechanics, nothing. There's is absolutely 0 reason someone should be having trouble in one.

It is absolutely about being entitled.

There is something wrong with it when you cut in friggin line.

Justifications of greed fall on deaf ears. Queue as DPS like the rest of the world or make a tank toon.

Of course, people like you usually just queue with a friend so you can dig in your heel and have someone shield you from geting votekicked when people have a problem with your bull.

O I see- you ONLY play a tank xD lol.

    *It's all become clear!*

    pfffffft.

Honestly, I never encounter these people because of it.

I've heard enough angry guild chatter from people who are tired of it, to hate it however. Sorry bud. People who play DPS hate it too.

All that is true. I’m not even saying I’ve ever queued as a tank other than with a preformed group. I never have.

I am saying that for the purpose of this event a whole lot of panties need to seriously unbunch.

The sanctimonious drivel the op is on about over normal dungeons like he owns the place is seriously grating my cheese and I’m stating what I could do, what most people could do, and what I feel like doing just because his self righteous attitude just bugs me.

Maybe if he played any other character he’d understand where the rest of us are coming from.

I’m just over people who think their way is the ONLY way.

    Just get on with it.

Most people are actually fine with waiting for people questing. Some kind of run ahead and wait for the quester before the next boss just clearing trash - and even that, I think is unfair on questers. They likely want to feel like they’re doing the fighting, if they’re happy to hear all the dialogue etc - it has to be immersion breaking to just follow the corpses to the next boss.

However again that’s what guilds and specific group requests in zone chat are for. Just like if you want a fast dps group, finder is not for you. If you want to be guaranteed to quest as you see fit (or loot all the things!) then finder is not for you.

What you get is what you get in finder.

That all being said, if you knew me you’d know how much of my game time goes to just chilling whilst people quest, answering questions and ‘sure I’ll come heal/dps your X’ and making food and mailing it to randoms I’ve met around.

I am all for helping people and I wear my volunteer title with pride because I think that’s why a lot of people whisper me with questions- but none of that is the point right now.

People are just trying to get this event done because they want the drops and everyone needs to loosen up and chill out.

It's like lying you are pregnant to get ahead of the line in the shop. Take a long and hard look at yourself on the mirror.

hahaha, lady's should be first in a line anyway. If they have to go that far, then it's because there are no more gentlemen to be found.

For the queue I just get to the bosses faster and kill them so they don't get the daily done. If they won't kick me I also enjoy running ahead and bringing every add back with me. You need to make it entertaining for yourself rather then being upset.

For the event idc it's a time to help each other, so I am more then happy to help people.<3

    Tanking a normal dungeon

    Step 1: http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Whitestrake's+Retribution+Set

Step 2: Equip an ice staff

    Step 3: Use a persistent aoe snare/root

Step 4: Taunt with ice staff

Step 5: Use magicka gained from ice staff taunt to unload damage or use pocket heals

Step 0: Use a magicka build

Step 0-2: Pre-buff with immovable ect.

The only shady area is when a group of 2-4 strong adds spawn on a boss and you have to decide between waiting for four ice staff taunts or using inner fire and dumping your magicka pool in the process.

If you run an open world magicka dps build it's very simple to refit without respecing by equipping an ice staff and a heavy armor set.

Effective tanking in a normal dungeon is 100% effective for any character with one level 1 skill: puncture.

Grab a sword and shield, kill one mob, slot puncture, and, voila, you’re a tank.

In normal I don't even know what other people have for roles, I'm halfway through before they even get their *** together and say "hi" or "looking for X set pcs"

When they die you can force them to sit in the group if you dont rez them. Then kick them at the end.

Not if you only have 15k health and stuff all physical resistance in something like Bloodroot Forge, with the healer using all if their energy keeping you alive instead of the DD's.

All of this would be a non-issue if ZOS had finished the grouping tool before putting it into the game.

    What do I mean?

Check boxes for which dungeons you want to include/exclude from your queue
Check boxes for which roles you accept for your group - Allow different groups than 2-1-1
Check boxes for level ranges of your group, or at least vet-nonvet

But because we have the system we have, you end up with all of these problems :(

Well, for example. I have a max cp magplar, which I run (rightfully) as a healer.

I also have a level 15 DK alt that can't do ANYTHING. BUT, I can't join the queue unless I pick a role. So what do I pick? My alt sucks at tanking, sucks at DPS, and sucks at healing, because he's level 15. So I just pick a role at random and call it day. I don't do that to spite anyone; I do that because no matter what role I choose, I know my impact in the dungeon is going to be completely negligible.

Or should I do parses in order to find out that I do 20 dps vs 21 hps, and therefore should always queue as a healer?

You queue as DPS and do your best, or TBH you dont queue. If you dont taunt, or you dont heal, dont queue for tank or heals. If you 100% suck at everything then yeah, dont queue, no one wants you.
