No one is going to choose another trait to be 'diverse'. People want to do as much damage as they can so they will keep using sharpened.

No one is using Sharpened and the DPS is higher than ever on stamina builds. Obviously, for magicka builds the DPS will probably never reach the level that it was during Homestead though, but still a noticeable increase from Morrowind for all classes.

The only place where I think one sharpened off hand weapon will be BiS is vMA or content where you've got no debuffs whatsoever (PUGs?).

The one I thought was funny is the fact that crit builds took a hit with the mundas stone changes while pure dps stones got buffed. Lots of butt hurt threads from console players are going to start popping up I bet. I'm not complaining I use mundas stones that got buffed so I'll be happy once it goes live

As a casual, I think the nerf (call it balance if you want) sucks because even as a casual, I have been playing for 3 years & the only weapons I kept were sharpened or defending. I have a bank full of bound gold sharpened & defending weapons & zero desire to farm/improve more weapons.

Why would you need to farm again? Sharpened and defending are still very good.

I like the training trait because even when I beat someone in a duel with it they say gg which means git gud so I have to keep training to be the greatest Pokémon master there will ever be and this trait helps me immensely. Thanks Zos for putting this trait in the game so I can focus on how to be the best 1vX, much hype, dubstep intro, wannabe youtuber there ever will be!!!!!!!!!

Now all traits are good and the DPS difference is like 2% ... so it basically does not matter too much. You dont have to regrind.

    I don't think it does...

    I have 2 sharp daggers. each dagger has 2580 penetration. 2580 + 2580 adds up to 5160.

You must be on console, the patch hasn't dropped for us yet. It most certainly doesn't after HOTR tomorrow.

yes it hasn't dropped yet, but that is what I read in the patch notes. No mention of individual sharpened trait weapons being nerfed, only 2h.

They list the values for 2 handed gold quality items, and state that fact so they don't have to list the 50% value for 1H items as well.

    You just misinterpreted.

You have answer a long standing question i had for that i tip my boss helm to you

Sharpened wasn't as overpowered as some claim. Many were using precise because of overpen, sharp did squat against shields too. 3.5/4k wouldve been a better number.

Yes it was. It took a 50% nerf, plus a buff to all other traits, just to bring it in line (and it's still very strong). That's how far ahead it was.

It took sharpened getting nerfed and other traits getting buffed to put them within 1% dps with eachother.

Thats how grossly OP sharp was.

Now you have choice and your not forced to only farm sharp stuff if you get a precise drops its fine etc..

Nirn is best overall, works on shields and heals but is restricted to crafted or msa.
Sharp is still good, best vs heavy armour, doesn't work on shields.
Precise, slightly less dmg than the other two but crits are burst and burst is how you kill people in pvp. Doesn't work on shields but does increase chance of crit heals unlike sharp.

    Choice.

Also have infused backbar, powered or defending etc...

Or infused front bar to proc glyphs faster and make them stronger.

    More choice is better.

Sharpened was merely the best trait and the one that people spent a lot of time farming.

Nerfing it has only achieved one thing- increased diversity of weapon traits which is a completely worthless thing.

All that matters is having the best weapon, not whether or not it's 'diverse'.

Basically the change was done to appeal to casuals so they don't have to spend as much time farming weapons.

    This person gets it :)

I only ever used Precise. *shrug* I only recently got to try Sharpened after the nerf because the set I wanted to use (Rattlecage) and the drop I was getting (Omen's Edge) finally twinned up so I had matching blades. I wasn't unhappy with the result.

Exactly. SInce play a crit build, precise is the trait to use. I was laughing at the sharpened nerf. My crit rating actually increased 4% after the patch.

increased? thief was nerfed 4%. precise stayed the same. you must have gotten some increase from set pieces. mine went down around 3.8% but i still dont have my complete gear set.

It's a useful word pertaining to the sharpened discussion. I suppose you could replace it with the word 'choice' but you still mean the same thing. Words get used a lot when discussing something.

The point was to make it so you can complete content without being forced to use Sharpened. Whether or not harpened was over performing, or other traits were too weak, there was still a wide gap between Sharpened and other traits either way.

They did. Prosperous used to help you get gold to help buy you gear that wasn't prosperous, now it isn't even good for that. Since invigorating is next to useless, the fact that it doesn't even help deliver you cash to upgrade your other-traited gear could very well be considered a nerf. Yeah, invigorating is that bad(it's bound to get a boost, I can't see it staying this awful).

As far as sharpened goes....like most I had a fair pile of sharpened gold weapons. I still use a fair number of them because it isn't worthless. I am, however, quite fine with making/finding my new weaponry in a variety of traits has been much more enjoyable than having a clear winner, though.

I've found plenty of uses for precise and infused to round out sets, and have even considered trying an infused setup with my templar to see if I can increase my sweeping strikes to a level that actually increases its usage enough to offset any damage loss from the others. It was all possible before sharpened was nerfed, but knowing that sharpened would beat any of these setups in the end defeated the purpose of even giving them a shot.

iv seen the post that has the math on this and its missing one variable: the repair kits you get for free for doing daily writs. if you didnt need to spend the gold repairing and instead used the kit, the math works out differently.

Sharpened trait nerf is the best thing that happened in this patch. They had to nerf it in a half for other traits to be in the same level as Sharpened. You see how powerful it was compared to the other traits??

How much could you have sold those rapair kits for instead of using them yourself? I would geuss around 50-100 gold a piece. More then you save from using them on your armor.

Ehh... @Chrysa1is 1 handed weapons in most of the traits underlie 1 simple rule : it gives 50% of 2 hander trait statistic. Exception are only nirnhoned and infused. So if sharpened is cut by half in 2 handed weapons then it gets same nerf in 1 handed. In patch notes I assume devs were thinking that everyone who's reading them have atleast 2 brain cells to connent the facts so they dont have to create 2 separate charts just to change few numbers.

It was always that way and it's that way on PC already where 1 handed weapons gives over 1,3k pen. You could also just use logic to see that in patch where they want to ballance things giving almost the same amount of penetration in 1h and 2h weapons sounds little opposite to ballance.
