No one is going to choose another trait to be 'diverse'. People want to do as much damage as they can so they will keep using sharpened.
As a casual, I think the nerf (call it balance if you want) sucks because even as a casual, I have been playing for 3 years & the only weapons I kept were sharpened or defending. I have a bank full of bound gold sharpened & defending weapons & zero desire to farm/improve more weapons.

You must be on console, the patch hasn't dropped for us yet. It most certainly doesn't after HOTR tomorrow.
yes it hasn't dropped yet, but that is what I read in the patch notes. No mention of individual sharpened trait weapons being nerfed, only 2h.
They list the values for 2 handed gold quality items, and state that fact so they don't have to list the 50% value for 1H items as well.
You just misinterpreted.
Well I hope they nerf Prosperous......it is WAY OP! LOL
Sharpened wasn't as overpowered as some claim. Many were using precise because of overpen, sharp did squat against shields too. 3.5/4k wouldve been a better number.
Sharpened was merely the best trait and the one that people spent a lot of time farming.
Nerfing it has only achieved one thing- increased diversity of weapon traits which is a completely worthless thing.
All that matters is having the best weapon, not whether or not it's 'diverse'.
Basically the change was done to appeal to casuals so they don't have to spend as much time farming weapons.
I only ever used Precise. *shrug* I only recently got to try Sharpened after the nerf because the set I wanted to use (Rattlecage) and the drop I was getting (Omen's Edge) finally twinned up so I had matching blades. I wasn't unhappy with the result.
Exactly. SInce play a crit build, precise is the trait to use. I was laughing at the sharpened nerf. My crit rating actually increased 4% after the patch.

It's a useful word pertaining to the sharpened discussion. I suppose you could replace it with the word 'choice' but you still mean the same thing. Words get used a lot when discussing something.

They did. Prosperous used to help you get gold to help buy you gear that wasn't prosperous, now it isn't even good for that. Since invigorating is next to useless, the fact that it doesn't even help deliver you cash to upgrade your other-traited gear could very well be considered a nerf. Yeah, invigorating is that bad(it's bound to get a boost, I can't see it staying this awful).
As far as sharpened goes....like most I had a fair pile of sharpened gold weapons. I still use a fair number of them because it isn't worthless. I am, however, quite fine with making/finding my new weaponry in a variety of traits has been much more enjoyable than having a clear winner, though.
I've found plenty of uses for precise and infused to round out sets, and have even considered trying an infused setup with my templar to see if I can increase my sweeping strikes to a level that actually increases its usage enough to offset any damage loss from the others. It was all possible before sharpened was nerfed, but knowing that sharpened would beat any of these setups in the end defeated the purpose of even giving them a shot.
Sharpened was overpowered af and I welcomed the long overdue nerf.

I am all for making the other traits viable options.

No it didn't. You would save more money with inpen then you got with prosperous. Simple as that.
They just have to keep making our builds weaker and weaker don't they? So much for progression
Haven't played for a while and came back to read the patch notes, and I LOL'd
What does everyone else think? What ridiculous patch note makes you laugh the most?

iv seen the post that has the math on this and its missing one variable: the repair kits you get for free for doing daily writs. if you didnt need to spend the gold repairing and instead used the kit, the math works out differently.
