Animals in the Crown Store

Why won't Zenimax put the more desirable animals in the store? Since the store began we get lesser animals like goats and other non "cool" ones. Where are the hawks, wolves, owls, and perhaps tougher dog breeds like a German shepard or Doberman. I mean these types would sell. With morrowwind we got that flying reptile so I know they can handle a simple hawk. Anyone else wish they would quit fooling around with pigs and goats and get to stuff players would actually want?

Just because you want or don't want something doesn't mean all players do.

For example none of the items you mentioned appeal to me, but some of the currently available ones have done.

I'm not against more choices, I am not sure what breeds of dog the TES series has which are lore friendly, but yeah just because they're things you want it doesn't mean we all do.

Although I do love my goat, I agree we could use more pets suitable for warriors and mages. I like some of the current ones but most of them are too small for my liking.

I'm sorry I offended you and didn't mean for them to take away your goats or what have you in place of my wants. I see you mentioned twice that all players don't want what I'd like to see so obviously I touched a nerve. I honestly don't see alot of pigs roaming behind people or goats for that matter. As a paying customer of ESO for 3 years it would be nice to have some more variety and not just a recolored pig or some other critter that an adventurer wouldn't have tagging along with them. If that's what you want, fine, but add more types for everyone.

For something I thought would be a light hearted thread for more animal additions for the adventuring type has obviously upset the first person to reply and an "ambassador" at that. . No wonder I try not to post of these forums much.

While I agree more variety is nice, stop being a s'wit. Just because you don't think goats are cool doesn't mean people don't want them.

You read @Turelus post in the wrong tone then. He wasn't trying to waggle his finger or sound obnoxious, just basically pointing out that everyone likes different things and that not everyone will be happy with the current selection

Personally, I'm pretty much indifferent to the issue since I don't use any of these, but I'm all for having more options for other people as long as they're at least semi lore friendly

I feel most of them are too small as well. I still run with my black senche since I feel he's the largest I have and that fits in with my ranger (stamplar) or my Druid (Warden). I understand they can't go too large or you'd never find the banker in town with everyone's pets but a little larger wouldn't hurt IMO.

Then he too read into mine and took it in the wrong tone. I tried to type it up during my break at work and it might have come across as I want my way or the highway but that was far from the case. As a mid 40s adult when someone repeats something to me more than once trying to make a point I get it..I've raised kids, I know the drill. Reading his response felt condescending and I don't deal too well with that tone.

Some of my coworkers who play the game are always like man why'd they add a pig or other animal. We cann't understand why they leave out the most basic of hunting type creatures. I get it, some folks like those and that's perfectly fine but it would be nice to see some more "adventuring" animals. Can you imagine Drizzt running around with a goat? It definitely wouldn't give off that heroic feel. If you're at your house gardening and you want your goat to hang out with you and eat grass, sure that's awesome! I feel like they need to add more.

Well then what examples would you like to see added op? I would love to see spriggan saplings! Also a torchbug pet was datamined that i really want. And a monkey was also datamined. Not the stupid pc beta monkey.

I'd like to see birds such as (hawk/eagle), wolves & coyote. Of course the bear was given to the warden so all we got was the bear cub in the store. Just some for the ranger type characters out there that don't want to have to create a Warden to have an animal companion (I ran stamplar as a ranger for years with my senche to create that beast master feel.

The spriggan sapling does sound cool. Especially for my Warden.

And just to make a quick funny with my 3 minute horrible paint skills I put this together.

I love my goats and pig. :)
But they do try to add animals that would appeal to different tastes. For a while there was a "haj mota" turtle in the store that was extremely cool-looking. It was this one: https://eso.mmo-fashion.com/haj-mota-hatchling/
And I've seen other cool stuff before, too. A hawk would be really neat.

Yea I remember the turtle. He looked pretty cool. There are and have been some pretty good looking creatures. I'm not going to lie. Hell I've been tempted to buy that flying nixie (sprite) or whatever it's called. I just wish they'd add some normal predator type animals to the mix as well. I mean they are already in the game world so I'm sure it wouldn't take much to offer them in the crown store and they make bucks and it makes a few folks happy. Sounds like a win/win to me.

Just because someone disagreed with you does not mean they're upset or angry or having a go at you. It's simply a different opinion.

Also I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet but some people really like those "boring" pets. For example before the goats were released some people had an on-going campaign to persuade ZOS to release them, including making their own music video to promote the idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVvg3Y1QkWg

Asking for tougher dog breeds also seems odd when the one currently in the crown store is a bear-dog. That's exactly what it sounds like - it's a dog bred and trained to fight bears. In terms of toughness I'd say that's a step up from a sheepdog.

I'm all for more variety of pets and a hawk (or other bird of prey) would be perfect for one of my characters, but complaining about the pets we've already got and declaring that no one wants them isn't a great way to make your case.

The forums are a great place and although there are opinionated people who will debate you it can be refreshing to have a good back and forth at times, then on top of that you have the amazing things one can learn about the games on the forums.

I'm not going to hit all of your responses line for line but I will say if you notice I initially put "cool" in quotes to emphasis that in a fantasy game nor any game for that matter goats and pigs aren't generally the most requested adventuring companions. Not saying they shouldn't have them..as I know there are some people who like them, but if they are going to take the time and resources to add farm animals to the store why wouldn't you (Zenimax) add "more desirable" animals as well. I would think you'd agree they could easily sell more predatory animals than a farm animal. There's a lot of ranger type characters out there and those items would sell, easily. I'm also not talking about the spider construct or the imps I'm mainly talking about animals and if they are going to add a pig, why not a wolf, or bird. I'm not a Drizzt fan really but yes they added a black senche like his Gwenewere (sp?) but that's really been the only large animal I can remember (I think they offered a white one at some point). When i saw the bear cub (before I knew of the warden bear) I was like you got to be kidding me..how about a larger bear. I had hoped at least one of the animals I wanted would have finally been released with the last nature themed release but unfortunately that wasn't so.

As far as my initial posting being lighthearted, hell I figured throwing a post up about adding animals to the store on my break was pretty harmless and I figured (since I have coworkers and friends who would like the same) I'd just have some folks go yea I'd like a hawk too so I can switch out my pig or goat. No biggie. Boy was I wrong. I never thought my every sentence would be dissected over the want for more animals that are traditionally viewed as a little more "cool" than farm animals. With that said I've already wasted too much time on something so trivial. Sorry if I attacked something you deemed "cool" and I honestly didn't mean to open this up sounding like my likes are better than yours because at my age, I honestly don't care one way or the other. I'm just a paying customer trying to voice my opinion of what I'd like to see. I'm done.

I think part of the issue Zardayne is that if you've not been around the forums you probably haven't seen how a lot of threads start with people talking down others.

Granted I could have been less of a jerk in my initial reply and you have my apologies for that, I have just seen so many post like yours which were not meant with good intent I've become jaded and cynical and treat them all that way.

For what it's worth I do agree with you and your ideas for pets would be great additions for the game, however ZOS works in weird ways and don't seem to follow the common "this is what players want" logic when releasing such items.

I hope this thread hasn't put you off the forums as what I said in my reply was true, although the forums can be a lot of debate (even when not warranted) it's a great part of the game and has a good selection of posters.

First off I can take a disagreement. No problem there. What I don't like is someone reiterating things in the same post like they're talking to a child. A person only has to say it once for me to catch their drift. I'm fine with us agreeing to disagree. Unfortunatly in posts, like texts, people can read more into them that in normal conversation would never be the case. That's what I feel happened to both of us above.

Hey I'm fine with people liking whatever pets they want to like. Everyone has their own version of "cool" and some are pretty adamant about their choice. You're a paying a customer like I am so if someone want's to run around with poodle I could care less. As a more RP'd old school player I like to keep myself immersed in the world and I could do that better if I had a selection of animals that fit my characters theme.

I'm all for more variety of pets and a hawk (or other bird of prey) would be perfect for one of my characters, but complaining about the pets we've already got and declaring that no one wants them isn't a great way to make your case.

A friend of mine purchased the bear dog. He said it was so annoying he shelved it. He said he's constantly digging and barking driving him nuts. I figured I'd pass on that one even though I almost got it at one point. Not only that but he's more of a bear cub dog.

Truth is @Turelus I read these forums off and on all day, almost daily since PC release but I am a lurker mainly. I generally read the current events, check on some of the latest builds and what abilities are bugged, then move on. I can understand being jaded and cynical because there are some people who post on here that make me cringe with what they say so I can see where your coming from. It definitely gets under my skin on occasion. Looking back I feel I took what you said initially wrong as well, and like a text, was easily twisted and magnified into something larger. With that said, My apologies as well.

I should have just said in my original post I want a hawk or wolf in the store lol. Sure would have made it easier!

But sure more variety in pets would be welcome by me - for direct purchase in the store of course.

Well I never realized the amount of love for the goat or the pig until now lol. I retract my earlier statement of these fine animals being less desirable than others!

A friend of mine purchased the bear dog. He said it was so annoying he shelved it. He said he's constantly digging and barking driving him nuts. I figured I'd pass on that one even though I almost got it at one point. Not only that but he's more of a bear cub dog.
Just wanted to mention that the dog doesn't bark any more (thank goodness). It was annoying so many people that they ended up taking away the constant barking sounds. I did the exact same thing your friend did until they stopped the barking. It still digs, though, but that's much less annoying.

Anyone else wish they would quit fooling around with pigs and goats and get to stuff players would actually want?

usually i don't buy crown crates and this time i bought a bunch just to get the white goat :P

anyway, wolves seem nice, but i would never pay 1 single crown for a dog :D

I just want a pet Chicken D: Or rooster. Maybe they could release a bundle of lower tier pets like a baby pig and a chicken and a calf :)

I want one of those bluish Scuttlers you see in cold harbor.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

That's good to know about the bear dog's barking being eliminated. It might be worth purchasing then.

Speaking of goats, man I was reading some dumb article before heading to bed tonight about animals attacking and I ran into this picture and I started cracking up. I just had to share. Now I know why you guys are into the goat..pretty vicious..

Goats are mean AF. Our goats (not the miniversion, mind you. But normal goats, about the height and weight of a doberman) chase dogs for sport. BIG dogs. The only breed that is up to them are Giant Schnautzer - and those were bread to hunt bears.

But I too am under the impression the domestic animal sector is highly represented in ESO and would welcome a wolf pet.
