I have seen a bunch of videos of players having success with a snipe build. I understand they are edited with bias in their favor.

In my limited game play in PvP, I am seeing all the counters there are to ranged attacks. It's evolution. Players make adjustments. I have watched from afar, and observed a lot of these hopeful snipers lose more than they win.

It seems like the sniper really only kills players that are lesser than him. If the player being attacked is equally skilled or better, then the sniper will lose.

I'm curious what more experienced players think ....and if they actually fear being ganked by a solo glass sniper while travelling from point A to B

I wouldnt rely on sniping build before the upcoming changes to it. Wrobel said this on reddit that snipe's burst damage would be reduced.

You only win against a potato, in both mind and body, but that's 50% of the people out there, apparently. Keep seeing potatoes get sniped on the side these days.

IMO sniping builds are only really effective in a zerg environment where you are assaulting/defending keeps and picking off people who have taken damage from siege/etc, or just weak targets who relaxed their shields. I wouldn't try to "solo" with one, in the sense of actually being out by yourself and potentially facing Xv1 scenarios.

In 1v1 scenario you have to make one snipe and it can be a good opening.

I've never played a sniper so this is an outside perspective, however I've killed my fair share.
Typically, people that play this playstyle 'only' want to attack from range & play by getting their snipes to hit has hard as possible, which means they build for it, which means they are completely squishy.

P.S.:
Snipers have the longest range of attack, however, other nb's exist in the game, the minute a sniper comes out of stealth he's a threat worth targeting for the rest of the nb's in stealth around him.

good question...if you open with heavy attack, hit snipe, gap close with ambush, then hit incap strike - you might be able to kill some folks...

otherwise - most pvp players are gonna simply either run away or come looking for you...

it is however pretty effective in zerg situations...

one on one - yeah, you may just need to find potatoes to be make it work...

Snipe is more of a out of stealth skill. Or dropping snipes from a wall on to zergs trying to siege.

One vs one open field snipe will only work if your opponent refuses to dodge and block.

As a play style a Sniper build works very nicely. One just needs to understand what the play style can and cannot do.

Its an rpg... If i fully commit to a build that pours all available resources into squeezing as much damage into a successful snipe, i fully understand the pros and cons and what kills i can and cannot secure.

There is no such thing as cowardice in a videogame, fight smarter, not harder, its.that simple. Its no different than some neckbeard gap closinh from stealth and all his procs go off resulting in an instagib. The only people that throw around terms like the ones mentioned, are by players that for some reason consider themsleves above the playstyle, where they think jousting back and forth in a 30 second duel is somehow "honorable"(rofl) and engaging.

Honestly those that go all in with a snipe gank build hardly feel themselves when they land a successful gank and likewise when they are caught out and die swiftly followed by an inevitable tea bag, they often fully expect it and couldnt care less.

Its those on the receiving end who harbor the most vitriol, its pitiful really.
