Literally if this update does not have boxes to save things, it will be a shot in the foot .. Zenimax DO NOT FORGET that you sell an MMORPG, so put the aspects of a house of MMORPG, since to notice the lack of communication of zenimax with community.

I want to know if anyone who had this brilliant idea keeps their clothes and jewelry out of the house.

Nobody said it's hard. Many people have different sets for different purposes, especially with the new sets. More space should be available.

There SHOULD be storage allowed in houses. Make it just like bank space with a max of 240k slots and make it purchaseable with gild and/or crowns.

There that wasn't hard. Now ZOS can make some profit and we can spend some in game gold or every once in a while treat ourselves to a crown housing storage space upgrade.

    Fixed.

Agree that without storage, I will have no need for housing even if it is free. Give me storage and I would pay crowns for a house.

The craft bag is purely for crafting - no weapons, armour, food, potions, glyphs, recipes, maps, soul gems, etc., can be store in it. If they are that concerned about people opting out of ESO+, they can make housing storage only available for those items that cannot be stored in the craft bag.

Yes, I have the crafting bag, as well as about 2000 storage slots spread between 10 characters and the bank, but I still run out of storage on my character if I try and run it through 3 dungeons without clearing inventory.

This is because when using group finder, I pick up everything during the run and sort out later what I want to keep rather than stop every time I pick something up to assess if I want or need an item, which would be really annoying for others.

I didn't expect storage to be introduced with housing.

    1. Devs recently said they are not looking at increasing bank or storage space. Regardless of which word they used it was clearly an indication to me that we were not going to see storage with housing.
    2. Storage space in this game is a minor gold sink. It would not be an easy system to charge for storage in someone else's home.

Really???? Youre saying 200 storage space on your character isnt enough? PLUS bank storage? ESO Plus? PLEASE

I have one character with 180 inventory space just for my undaunted stuff. And that's only good traits that make sense keeping. Completely full, with still quite a few undaunted sets in the bank or on other characters. Then another 500-600 set pieces I have on storage on different characters. Then comes stuff like siege, repair kits, enchants, potions, keys and whatever else.

So no, 200 storage place plus bank plus crafting bag is nowhere near enough.

Why though? I thought I was a hoarder. Just why? Decon or vendor it, any valuable pieces list in a guild store.

The game is not designed to cater to everyones' strange behavioural quirks.

Has nothing to do with hoarding. It's all stuff I have used or still use or am likely to use. I have every undaunted set in all three armor weights, then I keep different traits like impen and divines and infused, medium armor well fitted, sturdy for certain sets that make sense.
Then comes crafted and dropped stuff I use for PvP or PvE. I have at least 15 different sets I use on a very regular basis, plus another 10 sets I use occasionally. I have the trials sets (especially the jewelry multiple times) stored. I have different BoP sets (I hate BoP for exactly that reason) that I need to keep because farming them again would simply be awful. I have a ton of Maelstrom and Masters weapons (only good traits like defending, sharpened and precise).

I have a great overview over my stuff, don't misunderstand. But it would simply be more convenient to have an armory where I can place all that stuff and then go to the house and take it out, instead of having to relog all the time.
I don't see a point in having housing if such a simple feature doesn't exist.

Aside from weapon racks and mannequins - which I feel are a must for ES housing - I didn't expect extra storage with housing. I did assume that common sense meant that the dev team would realise some kind of home storage solution would be wanted, and that we might get a storage chest linking to our existing banks. I'd be happy with that.

Storage space is sorely needed for set pieces and other items.

If the storage in housing is only available at that fixed location, crafting bags are still appealing - unless, ofc, you can just craft from home... in that case, please just find a way to make this happen ZOS.

Frankly I'm still appalled that players need to take on a monthly bill just to make the terrible inventory management of this game a little less frustrating and time consuming. Don't let every addition to the game be predicated on this ridiculousness.

Perhaps ESO+ just needs to evolve with the game to give added value greater than its current major selling point: alleviation from the designed inconvenience that is ESO inventory management. Did someone mention that you can have twice as much furniture in your house if you're an ESO+ member? As a non-member, I'd be fine with that IF housing can actually be used for more than just furniture storage.

It's for group balancing, too. If I inspect your house before a raid and there's poor feng shui, I'm kicking you no matter how many CP you have.

They completely missed the inventory compromise, too. Since housing is a free upgrade system for everybody, they should have made it that a type of furniture increases the number of guild sales slots you have. Or allowed small pop-up stores in your house so you could reputably sell a few items at a time without the need for a kiosk. It would turn housing into a legitimate investment instead of RP dollhouse mode.

As such, most of my characters will continue to sleep at brothels, which keep adventurers warm at night and don't involve waking up to echalette *** all over the bed.

You make it sound like some arbitrary charge for waste management admin costs or similar that some utilites providers are so keen on adding to their bills - I don't NEED to take on a monthly bill for this game, but at £7 a month it's probably one of my cheaper hobbies.

Storage containers in eso make sense only if not connected with crafting stations, bank, or personal inventory, so a completely separate containers for which you need to go and take from to have in inventory. Not working like craft bags but something fixed to the house.
Also how would housing not step on the toes of needing to purchase more inventory bag space, or bank space, etc? With housing I would think the bank would almost become obsolete.
    1. Devs recently said they are not looking at increasing bank or storage space. Regardless of which word they used it was clearly an indication to me that we were not going to see storage with housing.
    2. Storage space in this game is a minor gold sink. It would not be an easy system to charge for storage in someone else's home.
I think these are the reasons there's no storage in the initial Homestead release. Such a storage system would need to be developed so as to complement the bank/inventory but not supplant it, so it would need to be separate from those, probably also individual to each house (so more houses = more storage), but still needs to allow access for all characters (since the houses are account-wide). There would then need to be a balance for how much storage each house allowed, as again, you wouldn't want to replace the need for the bank. That doesn't sound like a trivial system to develop, and I can understand why they decided to focus on the new stuff (mainly furniture and decorations) instead of storage for the initial release.
Extra storage in your home is something we know a number of you would love. It's something we'd love as well, but when we looked at all of the things had to get in for the base system, we had to draw the line somewhere. Additional storage didn't make the cut.

That being said, we are looking at ways to add in additional storage space in the future.
Based on Rich's comment, there's still the possibility for storage later on. Kai has also said that this isn't it for housing and that there's more to come.
Housing wird mit Update 13 nicht abgeschloßen sein. Es gibt viele weitere Ideen, die wir haben und umsetzen möchten, die es aber nicht in das kommende Update geschafft haben.

There will never again be housing like Ultima Online that was part of the game world itself and allowed you to store thousands and thousands of items in a completely customized house.

The scheme they have looks good to me, frankly. Plus it's months away and a bit soon for strings of exclamation marks.

This was the best housing of any mmo though. It's too bad.

It it is interesting to watch whenever there's a deployment of something new. It always manages to absolutely outrage someone.

I am, like many, also opposed to Crown Crates as a system, for example, but was/is that a heated subject that pitted people against each other, heh?

Now it's storage in Housing with some people just mad about it while others are extremely happy.

I understand that this in part comes from the shaky start of ESO, where a forced sub with many unsolved issues and even basic quest bugs lost ZOS a lot of credit. After that, it was the exploits, gold sellers and bots (which apparently are still ongoing, according to some posters on the forum - I honestly never saw them again in EU).

I do understand that everyone comes into ESO expecting it to be "their" game, there's no way around it. ZOS should just adapt and offer different layers for everyone, like difficulty levels for PVE, for example.

Me personally, I am happy with what I get from the game. Nevertheless, this should be addressed at some point because the forums have never stopped being toxic - often with good reason, though not every time - and that usually transpires into the game, which is getting divided even with One Tamriel. Roleplayers don't want other people ruining their immersion, which is unfair, hardcore players don't want roleplayer playing with them because they are BiS nor meta-based, nor animation cancelling, given that the content is currently unsuitable for that kind of thing - which is also unfair - and so on.

More than housing or Crown Crates (and consequent explosive reactions), we need a game that can be experienced by all without the need to be a jerk, so to speak.

I'll be looking forward to this implementation, don't get me wrong though, but I enjoy several facets of the game, not just one.

I'm more surprised people even had some sort of expectations that we were gonna get storage space. Every single thing in the game surrounding storage should have been enough of a clue that we were never gonna get more. ZoS never claimed that there ever would be storage, yet there are people foaming at the mouth like it was somehow hinted at and ZoS have went back on their word.

I would unsub immediately if the type of storage had been implemented that some people are/were hoping for. For £10-a-month I'd have went back to my house each and every time. Would make zero sense to sub for me. The crowns are useless as are the perks.

The current inventory headaches are sometimes a reason not to play at all (and often delay me from playing) BUT if we have to store unused furniture in the bank/on alts... no thanks.

Storage would be good but PLEASE don't add to the problem by having furnishings cluttering our overflowing inventories as well.

It could work with any house, even the free room at the inn you get for doing intro quest (to prevent it feeling like you need to spend enormous amounts of gold/crowns on a big house even before subscribing to ESO+). Well, the problem with this idea is that ZOS needs to be careful with what they deny people that B2P. People that bought the game, crowns and expansions but don’t sub felt highly slighted with the craft bag deal. So, it’s a delicate situation to keep denying quality of life items to paying customs, even if they pay in a different way.

Not really. Subscribers are usually the people who companies pander to for obvious reasons and this goes for any buisness not just ZoS. You could pump £100 per month in to the game via CS purchases, but your £100 per month isn't a guaranteed source of income whereas my £10 per month upfront fee is a guaranteed source of income. There is nothing in place to 2nd guess how much anyone is going to pay into this game on a monthly basis. A 6 month sub is a lot more valuable than your "will I or will I not" £100 purchases.

Not saying you spend that amount, just an example.

Storage in the houses (Bought for gold) would detract a little from the desirability of craft bags via ESO+ to help with the storage issues.

ZOS needs predictable regular revenue and craft bags are the big draw for ESO + right now... as such I'd be surprised if they did anything to make those less needed/desirable, especially for in game gold, as this will impact the regular revenue stream which is what they need most to carry on.

Not saying I agree with it.... but this would be a big reason when looking at it from a business perspective.

    That doesn't actually make sense
When ppl think about storage, they aren't thinking only about crafting materials.

The feedback and negative reactions to not having more storage with housing at release is directly tied to non-crafting items.

I think that's very important to understand. So let's go with your thoughts....if their idea is to use it as a business profit, then shouldn't non-crafting storage be a new perk to ESO plus in coorperation with housing and not something that's being delayed due to resources per Rich Lambert's comments

    @Flaminir
I don't think your comment is accurate in context to what people are specifically asking for and based on interviews, old ESO lives and Dev tracker comments.

We have a crafting bag, mount upgrades, guild bank, personal bank, crown bank and mount options.....if your statement held accurate the housing would've logically expanded the offerings through some housing container in the in-game gold and crown store or even ESO plus offerings.

Instead it's delayed or excluded for now best we know.

A simple solution to that would be to only allow certain item types in each storage container type. Weapon racks - weapons. Mannequins - armour. Wardrobes - clothing/disguises.

Or just Chests - everything except crafting mats.
