Just came back in to see if game was back online.

After breaking some dishes and beating the dog because ESO wasn't back online I decided to troll for a few min.

Still don't know what the hotfix that couldn't wait until Monday was for.

Yeah, it's a moot point now really.

So...who's going to pick up after THIS bar fight? :p

Well, I had a little addiction issue with the game anyway. After the withdrawals ended a few hours ago I went and did normal human stuff like: peed in the toilet and not a plastic bottle, ate a real meal instead of handfuls of Cheerios, and took an actual shower with soap and stuff rather than just wiping down the pits with baby wipes.

I actually feel like a new man.

I believe Julian Assange will unleash documents proving a grand conspiracy between ZOS and Microsoft. These documents shall reveal a massive plot to destroy the hearts and minds of young people everywhere on this day, November 12th of 2016.

Never again will these victims look upon an MMO with trust again as the weight of this event was a burden far too heavy to bear.

It shall be known as "The day when Saturday stood still"

Lol, don't give up just yet... in my 12 plus years of playing MMOs what happened/is happening today with ZoS is not the norm. It takes an extra special company to take down the servers on the weekend with next to no communication on why they did it and what they had to fix.

This is the biggest problem yes I wouldn't be happy with them taking it down ,but atleast tell people why do they can understand the decision to do this

I worry that by simply mentioning this as a possibility you'll get disappeared by the ZOS Secret Police. Or by private contractors hired by MS through some shells. But more likely ZOSeP.

Come on people. Raging about not being able to play a video game is pretty lame. There's probably some poor engineer somewhere near tears because Microsoft is not cooperating with him or her.

It was Blizzard who was behind these most heinous cyber-attacks. The leaked material is completely discredited by the fact a rival company is attempting to undermine our weekend. (Though at this time we do not wish to deny the contents, it was Blizzard, 4realz.)

If this were a performance issue, the game would've been back up almost immediately. But since it's an issue of not being able to suck the maximum amount of money from players, they gotta be extra certain they get it right.

Pretty sure it's ....ZOS you decided to take your game down. Some policy prob states Xbox doesn't allow devs to set back up during outages as the outages take priority. Which are....ZOS' fault for taking it down if that's part of the agreements.

Can't blame Xbox as the game as fine until they took it down (other than crash bugs) but all other online games are working great. The outages have been out since 4am too so I kinda wonder about the timing and the scheduled maintenance coinciding.

Though I doubt that poor engineer is near tears, I don't doubt some rage. Especially if Saturday is not a regular work day for said engineer.

I'm an Xbox guy. And it sure is irritating to not be able to use my favorite escape from reality, I keep telling myself "at least you're not the guy working on a Saturday to fix this".

If a tech company makes a call, to take their game offline to fix something, it needs fixing. It's clearly an emergency change, and they have the foresight to pull forward the regular update into today so you don't have dual downtime. I say good job ZOS.

Enough of the moaning peeps, if you want the game fixed they need downtime to fix it. Sucks for EU, APMEA timing wise but what can they do.

Agreed tho that open comms policy on what the fix was would be nice.

I have no issues with this as long as the company is transparent and communicates with the player base. Most people are pretty understanding when people treat people with respect and honesty. Do to lack of communication it always looks as if Zos is hiding something or doesn't care enough to talk to its customers. All Zos had to do was release a statement that says they found a critical issue and needs updating asap. Instead, by not communicating they have enraged the community worse than a cremetorian guardian.

Actually quite a bit of truth to that. When I worked there I recall several calls from other game dev friends doing projects with MS, none of them happy calls.

My favorite was from someone at Turbine at the time during the development of Ashrons Call II, which MS was creating allegedly in cooperation with Turbine. "Is there is single functioning neuron among all those people at Microsoft?" she asked.

No need to reveal my answer ;)

    +1 and really +2

A basic we took it down because of a exp issue or NPC spawn issue or crown store issue, etc.
then the admit to blame Xbox's policy is XYZ so that's why we have to wait.

Well, what happened to the XBox servers is the perfect illustration why you NEVER EVER mix hotfixing with regular patches. When something with the patch goes wrong, you are borked.

For similar reasons you never mix important fugfixes, especially performance fixes, with feature updates. You can't tell if the fix works as intended when you change the environment by adding other code.
