Anyone tried this in PvP?

I just got an impen shield and was thinking about completing the set, but it's pretty expensive in guild stores.

Worth it?

I was fighting a tank in pvp with this set, sure I couldnt kill him, not even close, because I missed almost every swing at him, I still killed his 2 partners and he couldnt do anything to stop me, after that I just walked away. Dunno how useful he felt after that tho. For pve im sure this set will have a use.

After testing I have discovered that this sets proc cooldown is NOT per enemy. So if you have 4 guys wailing on you only one will be blinded and miss for 5 seconds every 10 seconds.

It may be better for single opponents, but for multiple opponents you gotta believe that Hist Bark is better.

Although, if its multiple on multiple, making a key pffender miss all attacks against anyone for 5sec might be better than making those folks hitting you miss. Circumstantial sure... but...

It's pretty weird how ZOS went through a considerable amount of effort to remove miss chance from the game, going as far as completely replacing certain abilities (Blinding Flashes was replaced by Radiant Oppression, Sparks was replaced by Blade Cloak, Eruption wasn't replaced but instead completely redesigned from an AOE miss chance tank ability to a so-so AOE DOT) only to reintroduce it at end game a few patches later.

It's totally bizarre. I just hope it's balanced.

    I agree.

And I can almost guarantee you this set will not work against bosses, since they will be immune to blind. Between that fact and the fact that the set follows a "per event" and not a "per opponent" cooldown the only sitiution I can think of where it would be better than hist bark would be 1v1 and maybe 1v2 in PvP.

Remember that when Hist Bark procs, the dodge window will allow you to dodge all damage for the duration of the dodge window, which makes it better for 1 v X since it has no cooldown.

I don't understand why they are cool with passive dodge chance, but not blind. What they should do is make blind purgable and work differently against big bosses, like an x% damage reduction or something so it's not completely wasted.

    Cool.

It's still better though, since in a 1v2 situation with on average 1 person missing (1-.33)*.50 = 33% of their total attacks, is not going to be as good as 2 people missing 20% of their total attacks.

And the more opponents you add the worse it gets for Blessing set.

What would be funny though is combining both sets together in a dual setting. Your opponent will literally miss you 50% of the time.

The Crusader set would like a word with you ;)

After roll dodging there is a period you will continue to dodge attacks it's called an iframe and the Crusader set extends this time by 0.3 secs

Dodge chance and dodge are so good because multiple attacks even those from multiple sources can be 100% mitigated by a single roll

Best test is you can dodge Valkyn Soriak Skull attack in VMA early like a whole second early and you will still side step it standing up after the roll. Very easy to reproduce. That's the iframe Windows that the Crusader set extends

I farmed this set since it sounded pretty good. Played a bit in PVP to try it out (compared to my old blackrose set)

I found that yes, it will only ever be active on one opponent at a time (then there's the cooldown too where it simply isn't active). Most PVP stuff I do is not 1v1 so I wasn't even sure it was working until I grabbed a friend to duel purely to test it. It was a sorc friend with pets - and I saw that it was indeed working, figured out what the visual effect was for it proccing (a fairly subdued sparkly around the affected target) - but never saw it affect both the player and a pet at the same time, despite just sitting holding block while they all light-attacked for a while.

So back to PVP. The big downside is that I found I was actively trying to make it proc - ie blocking when I normally wouldn't/shouldn't have been - which made me lose fights. But even though I didn't see much benefit from the procs - I felt much more survivable - but I suspect that is largely down to me blocking more (I did a lot less dmg too), having more resistance (from some of the other set bonuses) - and having more health - since I hadn't swapped the enchants from health to stam while I tried it out..

So overall, with it only triggering from blocks, I think it is much more suited to a build that heavily relies on blocking - but those builds take very little damage from a LOT of attacks. making one person miss for half his time won't make a lot of difference to it.
For a build that only occasionally blocks, It could potentially be strong in 1v1's as long as you do get some blocks in without trying too hard to get them (ie not playing like a blocktank when not built for it).

For PVE, I think its fairly useless too. it does NOT work on bosses (tested it). And vs mobs, well, the only time I'd potentially need extra defence is when getting swarmed - but as this only affects one at a time - well, its pretty useless there too.

So overall, apart from duelling, I think its a pretty underwhelming set.
    Minalan owes me a beer.

He's referring to "dodge chance" like Shuffle.

I went over to Wayrest sewers and aggroed a dozen rat things at the start of the dungeon and just cast shuffle and healed. I could never really get it to reliably show a dodge, dodge, dodge, which should have happened a lot given the amount of time I stood there and got whacked.

I did see plenty of "dodge, damage, damage" all within a second frame or less so I guess that shows that things like Shuffle or Hist Bark do not actually have an iframe like actual dodge roll does.

Its very solid for magplar healers who prefer smaller fights, that's why I use it, so that 2-3 wailing on me and I can survive and heal my small group. Other than that its useless unless you want to just 1v1.
The numbers thing is always going to be there, but it’s more down to player skill and there are ways through ability choice to configure a group to be stronger vs. large groups of people. - BRAIN WHEELER - 2012 - LOL

To put it in perspective, before Meridia ripped it off from Akatosh, I never lost a 1v1 even though it was a level 43ish set... You cannot be pressured during the time period it sparkles. Even in small group action, taking someone out of the fight is pretty huge. If it is still the same set under a different name, it's totally overpowered in certain situations.

Maybe Templar can have blinding flashes back now pretty please?
