Blazing Shield, Damage cap?

  • vpadget9592b14_ESO
Tried it with nothing in elemental , thaum, crits or otherwise. Only 100 mighty and 67 physical crits. Same results with same max although once I did 11633. Rest capped 11462. Did feel like my smaller hits seemed much lower. Seems 100 elemental and 67 elfborn was my highest average damage.

If you want to push the critical dmg of blazing shield try:
    - Shadow mundus stone
    - rearming trap
    - combine with aggressive warhorn (and similar buffs)
    - minor & major buff for %dmg increase
    - empower buff

/Edit The CP skill for critical dmg (aswell as the trap) raises only the 50% critical dmg part, WHILE the shadow mundus raises the 150% total crit dmg. Search the forums for more Infos on that..! From this follows that 10% +crit dmg CP are effectively only 5% more crit dmg (100 norm dmg + 50%crit norm + 5% CP[if 10%] + 12% shadow mundus + 5% rearming trap). I can't explain more, search the forums!

I'm totally following how you are pulling off all of this, except one part. How is your crit chance so high with this set-up? I'm at 63.5k health, basically running the same build. Some gear differences but I can't see how that contributes to the crit chance. But I'm sporting only a 22% crit chance. What am I missing to raise that?

I use on my bar magelight with crit mundos stone. Also my weapon has crit. I believe I'm like 48% percent. Will check later to confirm.

Also will be switching out my armor master for mephalas hand when it comes out. The web and aoe damage when getting hit is perfect for helping those who wish to run harder to get away. ;).

For all of those talking about undaunted, keep in mind that it will only raise your health by 2%. Heavy now gives 2% max health per piece, so running 5/1/1 you lose 4% max health to gain 6% max stats. It'd be the same net gain maintaining 7 heavy for the 2% max stats for wearing only one kind of armor, and I'll stay in 7 heavy because of the passives. With my magicka and stamina about 10k each, 6% of that wouldn't be worth the losses in the heavy armor passives.

I believe the most optimal way to do this would be 6 Heavy/1 Light for the +4% Max Health from Undaunted, an extra +2% Max Health from the extra Heavy Piece (which gives you the +6%) but still gaining +Magicka Recovery (which is vital to your sustainability). But it's up to you whether you think the extra little bit of Magicka Recovery is worthwhile or not.

Still don't know if like my build yet, only just finished levelling and I still need skillpoints and to max out the class trees. Running 5 seducer, 3 fasallas 2 malubeth and 2 sithis. I still need to get heavy shoulder and max out entropy level so there's 3% extra health ontop of my pretty low 55k with battle spirit health. Running seducer I would've thought I'd have been able to sustain magicka for a while but that's not the case. Even with 2k regen unbuffed and cost reduction. I don't know what to do really.

I got my health to 64.8k and it's a major difference. Shields are bigger so less casting. 7 piece heavy is very nice when getting hit to get resources back. If you feel your taking to much damage then look at these factors. Are you running full crit resists? You need to so when shield is down you can take a lot less damage while recasting. Also running armor master is a big boost to resists plus 5% more health running it with fassallas and endurance weapon/shield will cap you nicely. Your damage will go from 9ks to 11ks also from the 10k bonus health. Big difference since blazing shields cuts through all defences except other shields. So when it reads 11.8k my friend says they took 11.8k..also hit my first 12,850 damage today. Had the horn on and was getting hit by 10 yellows. Dropped 3 after 3 bs. :). The last advice I can give is font overlook putting points into physical and spell resists. It goes a long way to surviving and not having to recast so often. Key is patience with this build. Getting ranged attack hide around a tree, rock or enter a building. Don't overcast shields if they still running. And if your knocked down you don't always need to break free if your not taking to much heat. Use try stay potions. You need the extra magic to cast, extra health for damage, and stamina during sticky times. Use absorb when needed as it helps heal and block those big frags and keeps you from wasting a bs. Malubeth is your true life saver. When it triggers it's your time to put pressure on them back off to let it retime. I have tried many variations of my build and I'm happiest and alive longer with 64k health and this big big blazing Shield bubbles. :) Also on back bar using the shield charge works great since the shield strength runs off of health also giving you a nice stun and more bubble to hold them in place to blast them when others are hitting you. :)
