    People are QQ'ing since they can't now just run with shields primed for more than 6 seconds if it takes 7 to get into the fight.

    So I was optimistic when I first jumped on the PTS, then I ran into THIS guy...

    They needed to nerf my Ward for this???

    By the way I DID kill that guy after 3 or 4 tries, but it wasn't easy and I think he might have been AFK, LOL.

    You think that's bad, you outta get hit by overload. At least incapacitating strike can't be spammed. Also I have never been hit that hard by an ambush. Maybe 4k max (I wear all impenetrable, and I'm a Nord with 67 points into hardy). However I've gotten hit by overload for 10k with the same gear set up and 87 points into elemental defender.

    Only time a sorc's shield lasts longer than 6 seconds in a fight is if they are hiding behind a tree like a puss.

    I was explaining to Zabus how it was a nerf because he "Honestly couldn't see how people think this is a nerf." So to recap, hardened ward duration went from 20 seconds to 6 seconds and every other class has a shield that has the same effect whether STA build or MAG.

    i dont care much for the hardened ward duration change, but harness magicka is use by all classes and shouldnt suffer from sorcs abusing the skill for so long

    Well, we all know that Zenimax just can't balance at all. They're really just incompetent at anything else than nice storylines and shiny effects, any balance is thrown out the window for the next shiny crown store item that costs 5k crowns each (hello merchant and banker). We got the power creep that just keeps going up more and more, PvP is just a major gankfest and PvE is just all about dps.

    im sorry but what class has a shield that scales from mag? other classes have to go outside their respective classes to get a shield like that. Besides, most sorcs i dont believe realize how often they use their shields. Most sorcs are refreshing them inside 6 sec anyways.

    It's also worth noting that there were many, many other changes to Sorcerers - not just the two listed in the first post. It may be worth looking at all the changes as a bigger picture, and remembering those while testing out the changes on the PTS.

    i did, and the ward change is the only one i take issue with. i believe a far more reasonable change is 10 sec and 12 sec, the way it is now is just far far far to much of a reduction

    That's fair. Shields as a whole is something that got changed so it's worth trying these out (maybe even in Cyrodiil against other players) to see how it feels. We'll be publishing individual feedback threads for all the classes in a bit, and you can post your thoughts there after giving it a test run. :)

    The issue with this change is that Sorcs have no innate survivability outside of their wards. Coupled with the fact that sorcs already struggle to keep up with other damage dealers in both PvE and PvP unless they choose to sacrifice health, regen, and resistances to pump up max magicka and spell damage, this change will effectively reduce sorcs to either hitting like a wet paper towel or melting if their target lasts any more than 30 seconds due to the cost needed to maintain their only means of survival.

    Simply put, Sorcs will be forced to either attempt to emulate NBs, only without the same capacity to burst or escape, or become mediocre DPS's with mediocre survivability.

    As far as magicka sorcerers go all that was really changed was the spell absorption (still not worth slotting in normal circumstances) and the nerfs to wards (Sorcs can't afford another two slot loss for pets most of us are already gimped to 3 skills to match other classes in DPS). Everything else was classwide.

    I'm a bit upset that the Sorcerers' unique all damage type shield is also now being given to all builds through the light armor and undaunted skill lines.

    I'm not destroyed by the 6 second time frame, 10 would be a better compromise, but I'd survive with 6.

    And with everyone in PvP now running a damage shield Surge is more useless than it was before.

    I just see it as each class has a unique defense mechanic. Sorcs had their Ward, DKs had wings, NB had cloak, and Temps had BoL.

    Now everyone has a damage shield comparable to a Sorcs Ward, so what is my unique defense?

    I can't even run away from the fight with streak without it costing me 2 arms and 2 legs.

    Just curious as to why it was decided that full damage shields would be given to all classes?

    Yep Sorcs are dead now well either time for me to leave the game or play my Templar I expected Templars to get a buff but I don't think they did.

    Lol, if 20 seconds of hardened ward are the only thing propping up your build you're doing something wrong.

    That being said, the reduction is a bit severe, All shields should be at around 10 seconds, so you can cast and then go back to your dps/tanking/heals bar and still have enough time on it for the shield to be useful. Zeni really needs to look at how people are placing shields on their bars and factor that into their recalculation of timers.

    They should make Bastion instead of making the shield stronger to give shield longer time or have another CP skill line adding the shield duration and done..

    Not at all. I'm saying having to refresh shields every 6 seconds to survive does not make it spammy. Spam does not equal reapplying a buff every 6 seconds. It is inherently not spamming.
