I have yet to try vMA primarily because of the time requirement and the fact that you can't save your progression and come back to that point later. Finding a solid block of many hours that I can devote to that is something I haven't been able to do yet. I also need to learn the stage mechanics on normal mode better before I give it a go.

When I do try it, though, it will be on my magicka templar. I do have all legendary VR16 gear, with Molag Kena shoulders (I don't actually want the 2-piece bonus as getting it to proc would screw up my sustain), a ton of soul gems, and at the moment just over 400 CPs. I don't expect it to be easy. I don't expect that I'll be able to complete it on my first attempt. Maybe not on any attempt. I expect that it will be frustrating at times. I'm still looking forward to trying it.

You don't need gems just wayshrine who cares about a 30 second walk when you're learning

I've got a 4 full stacks of soul gems sitting in my bank (plus most of a stack on each of my characters), and I can be pretty lazy sometimes... I mean that walk takes a whole frickin 30 seconds! Ain't nobody got time for that! So I'll probably just use gems most of the time.

My first 5 runs averaged 100 deaths and 5 or more hours each without a clear. So I expect people to die alot as well that's why I I don't recommend gems. I now die 2 times or so and clear under 120

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the advice, and I'm sure it's the smart way to go. But I think you underestimate how lazy I can be lol

It's fine but you're implying something is mandatory that's not. People keep calling for nerfs to vMA but I like the fact that only the best players get a slight edge over those who cannot complete it. It gives content a purpose and keeps things relevant . I think when people start getting there way on silly things that aren't really needed you start to see everyone get their way.

Magicka templar is one of the easiest classes to beat maelstrom on. I have beaten it on 0 CP on stream. It's also one of the easiest to get flawless on. It's just about learning mechanics.

Yeah I am running the wrong build too, because on console, (apparently) sweeps does not crit so my Julianos set is pretty much useless. I'm gonna roll with a less glass-cannon set-up anyway and use Karg's Hope and stuff, before I learn the mechanics some more.

Wait.... sweeps doesn't crit? Thats kind of an important deal, why is that skill so broken, doesn't work against shields, doesn't crit....

Wait.... sweeps doesn't crit? Thats kind of an important deal, why is that skill so broken, doesn't work against shields, doesn't crit....

I'm actually not sure if it's 100% true though $:\$ I've got on Magelight right now in IC and I'm hitting pretty hard with the 2k crit buff it gives, so maybe it is working but just not against shields ^^

Aside from using the way shrine option to save money, you can also repair at the NPC rather than using kits. As for pots, use the NPC dropped ones. V10 magicka pots are about 1k for 100

Damn, that sucks $:\$ I don't know how to test it unless I attacked the same mob with crit and then no crit, or if we wait for scrolling battle text to come with the next DLC.
