Or is someone just so terribly bitter that they'd resort to this childishness?

That was the cause
@ZOS_GinaBruno People is asking for answers in the French speaking forum (here) about why we didn't received any informations about all of this. We don't have any news about our regular CM for a while and @ZOS_Abdu closing our topic instead of giving information didn't calm anyone down. I note this is really different here.
We need someone to give us information (even if it's only a "google translation" of what is here...).
The Community Managers are not the one who are investigating... well, at least I hope so !UltimaJoe777 wrote: »@ZOS_GinaBruno People is asking for answers in the French speaking forum (here) about why we didn't received any informations about all of this. Here's some info: Don't use Google Translate lol that'll not help one bit.
They had to investigate the DDoS attack while it was happened. Only by identifying it did it finally simmer down. Either the attack ended or they stopped it.
Was in UK was lagging like crazy last night so I logged off.
Good to see it wasn't the hardware.

But well, Google translate is not the best way of communicating, of course... It's about to say how desperate we are

Given the amount of former players bearing grudges at Zenimax, some of us are only surprised that it took this long for something like that to happen...

Now back to the topic at hand. DDoS... On this game... That means someone considers ESO a threat. But who, and to what? Or is someone just so terribly bitter that they'd resort to this childishness?

Or it just means somebody's randomly DDoS'ing game server again. Heck they might not even be targeting the game and it could be just someone picking a random IP address to screw with.
DDoS attacks on large server farms are a fairly regularly occurrence, and most of them aren't planned or premeditated, most of them are literally someone thinking "hey let's see if this works, that IP address looks like a good target".

They could not DDoS the game server unless they know about it. Mind you, the host likely serves multiple games but that doesn't exclude the possibility ESO was the target.
