Thus should be locked. I am sure enough evidence has been given too zenimax from their customers and they are noq probally making a BUSINESS JUDGEMENT.

I won't say it needs to be locked but it should be heavily moderated for the correct reasons and you're right on most of what you write. I think they do care and as such they are intentionally sharing their focus and decisions but not engaging in fostering community debates so they stay silent.

I like this game, and ZOS needs the community to support them, and give them time to compile whatever information they need to make a good decision on whatever the topic they are asked.

Despite one posters continual attempts to derail this topic and regardless of what he thinks ZOS thinks this game is!

This game is a MMO and even Bethesda has billed it as a premier MMO for the Elder Scrolls series!

Back on topic. This game cannot survive without text chat "among other things it is lacking, but lets just stay on topic" as it is one of the things that a majority of the players honestly need to communicate with each other. Games like Destiny can pull it off without having text chat as every time you go to enjoy group content it Automatically puts into "orbit"/a kind of queue and the game itself finds you party members and you are off and running through content in short order.

ESO is nothing like that. We have a grouping system that hardly works. If ZOS refuses to listen to the majority on this they will have only themselves to blame when the game continues to slowly die. There is absolutely NO reason not to have text chat in this game other than it was rushed out the door.

Text chat would not negatively impact anyone in any way at all. It would however improve the game for every player! Be it through being able to communicate trades easier. It would allow finding groups to be easier. It would allow role players to do their thing. It would allow deaf people to enjoy the game.

What needs to be said has been said.. Ball is in ZOS's court now.
If they do decide to add text chat I and many others will rejoice and if they do not.. Well guess I might be here till the better game comes along or just go back to NeverWinter.

Although if rumors are true we might be getting GW2 on console soonTM
With the success that NeverWinter has had a lot of MMO titles are taking notice and I would bet we will be seeing more MMO coming to console in the near future.

on a serious note. i have yet to see a single person voting NO who does not have a PC version and forum account starting 2013.

So i imagine most voted no purely because they didnt want OP's sugegstion to interfere with launch as opposed to being against allow console to get text chat (optional)?

So i expect the figures are much much more in favour for it than against than what is shown here. And if you joined from PC to console you probably already and have a guild or group of friends so your vote is very selfish to say No because you dont need to try and PUG of find a guild, when having the ability to toggle on or off a text chat option really doesn't effect anyone who does not want it.

I know that he has been asked this very question several times by different posters, just wondered if he has given a straight answer yet, or not?

If you prefer to go back and review there is a lot of detail in earlier pages and the tag will correspond with a users vote

I am slowly losing hope that the devs care about anything we say.. ESO feels like the devs are not trying to make a game that the players enjoy and that the ES fans hoped for so many years ago. What he said is our "niche" poll of forum users is actually slightly skewed as some of the "no" votes have actually already come in and explained there no to being "don't release with IC but down the road" or voting no for the sole reason that "I play on PC and want content, don't take my content"

I heavily paraphrased that but it's the gist of what willy said. The descriptions were of the forum accounts that are vying for NO text chat. So again, 30 pages later, reading comprehension and constructive criticism is awesome, baiting/trolling with disregard for what was said should find the door...

They are busy releasing IC right now. Then there will be a couple hetic weeks working out ICs bugs. Once things slow down, but before the next DLC, is when I hope the devs give this some attention. At least give us a firm answer. I can't say for sure if I'll still be around at that time, the game just pisses me off everything I try to group, but their will be plenty off others to continue asking for text chat.

A blind guy who cant read playing a game that relies on hand eye cords...

I am not attacking them. they cant play if they want. i have a friend with tunnel vision.. we call him shins.... but he admits that gaming is not made for him... colour blind.. yea i can see that.. but being so blind text chat wouldnt work but can still play the game with all its tiny interactive things in quests etc etc...

Facedesk moment really... and evenmore so too the people who think its voice or text chat... pretty sure both would work... but thats my personal view on this topic....

As I noted previously the voice chat system that ZoS implemented is very bare bones and does not have any lobby customization options at all. You cannot password protect chat channels (or make them invite only), view who is in the chat channel before joining, or even give the channel a proper title.

On a side note, ZoS saying that they do not see ESO as an MMO is a huge part of their problem. Just as Modern Warfare revolutionized the FPS genre by adding RPG elements, MMOs have evolved over time to include elements from many other types of genres. While ESO is heavily influenced by the Elder Scrolls series it is still, at its core, an MMO. As a result communication with hundreds of other players is a fundamental requirement of the game. Also note that the game was marketed as an MMO and reviewed as an MMO so perhaps ZoS is developing the wrong game.

No arguments there....

If you were around early back on PC launch and even PC BETA there was a very large crowd of PC players who said....

-This is a MMO and not TES make the game as such...

Those users were commenting on the rather odd usage of questing and amount of single player content vs group and MMO style content.

Then Craglorn dropped and you had a rather large group saying...this is a TES game, whats with all the MMO stuff

Now we have console and IC....and you see the PC reactions to IC.

We agree and disagree all the same on this topic and maybe others......as of 9/15 this ride will become very interesting for us all regardless of where we stand here.
