Console: Should text chat be implemented with the IC patch?

Yeah that new xpac looks nice. The base patch is already out lotsa nifty stuff. On the 15th I get the feeling my eso days are over.

I wouldn't bother if i were you, 40 euro for another crappy dlc by the looks of it. Patch 2.0 has made every weapon a nerf gun. Artificial difficulty at its finest.

It's a good game, but the inability to find groups to play dungeons is killing it for me.

The group finder is almost useless, the game really badly needs an LFG text chat channel - and possibly a trading channel

I just can't believe this quote. I will tell you what is cumbersome, standing outside a dungeon entrance for an hour hoping to get into a group because there is no effective way to communicate that desire with the server.....spending 10 seconds to type LFG Spindleclutch into a text chat channel is a MILLION times less annoying than using the broken group finder tool and standing like a limp lettuce at the dungeon entrance hoping someone rides past.

SURELY, a game dev understands that text channels are a BASIC requirement of a MMORPG? Voice is great once you are in the dungeon but utterly useless at forming the group

This topic should of been locked and removed ages ago... the breaking of the rules on most posts leads me to assume Zenimax do care (they want to know how many people say yes) and its a stupid business plan by them to not add it... yes awesome for them they are trying a new mmo approach... its doing badly, many of past mmos have set the standard of mmos and player expectations... VOIP was left out of many games because 3rd party providers give a better service (VOIP in ESO is shocking.... it goes from your console too the games VOIP centre then too other players..... Playstation or Xbox VOIP is PEER TO PEER)

Text chat has many uaes and does not discriminate agaisnt certian people. The miss use of ESO's VOIP on console (ps4) is so shocking 90% of the time decent players leave VOIP in all areas...

Not to mention the problema the game has with VOIP and keeping players in it correctly...

Like i stated and had my thread removed... ESO will not have a long shelf life due too many factors (too many too list and needs its own thread) and this game is made for the circle jerks with too much free time so they can sit on ESO all day... that is a fact of all MMOs the more time you have to sink into the game the better you are than others... usually...

To the people saying chat is not viable on console due to having to bring up the digital keyboard, you do know that when you have a keyboard attached to your ps4 (dont know about xbox) it works just like a PC keyboard in the sense of typing (it doean use the digital keyboard) you press enter you type you press enter to send...

Ive spent hours just reading the forums and their is too many flaming posts people bitching about this or that skill or drop rate of some stupid item..

But all my posts have been removed that have been trying too address the in game terms of use... the amount of swearing, griefing, illegal names and other *** have been removed and nothing done.

So it still stands Zenimax... pull your finger out... 2nd release of your game its not even two years old and its dying at a faster rate than the dinosouars did.

Regardless of what genre they see the game as, they need to explain why it's so difficult to arrange a pick up group for pve dungeon content. The group finder tool doesn't work well and proximity voice chat is never going to form a group across a server. The ONLY viable way to pull together 4 strangers into a group is with server wide text chat. People have bought this game because they want to interact at various levels with other players - otherwise we'd just stick with Witcher 3

Its marketed as an mmorpg.. commercals game trading places... yea i see he says that... they are going to have a console look at it.. but every other factor labels it as an MMORPG.... forums, and MMO... massively multi-player online... ill not go into the rpg meaning.... lol...

This is proof that zenimax has confused its self internally.... high five too the face imo

The RP in mmoRPg doesnt actually mean that type of role play.. its the leveling system picking a class etc.... a role playing server might be needed but in the past other games have proved that an RP serve isnt viable..

Curious about what sort of numbers we have to reach with polls like this. I mean 83% is pretty conclusive in anyones book, what if that number was higher.. say 90%.. we're not that far from that 9/10 mark as it is. Or 95% would they listen to us then? Are they waiting for this poll to reach 99% before they decide they better backtrack this horrendous decision?

Mmmm, I can't disagree more.

Role Playing is role playing, regardless of what cliche idea an MMORPG or a singleplayer RPG brings you.

If you're able to pick and choose your character, level him/her through progression of story/combat/actions, then it's role playng. If the world and or it's AI characters around you, change based on your actions/progressions, then you're playing an RPG of some sort.

It just so happens that in a singleplayer RPG, it's much easier for that game to focus entirely on your character as the true and only protagonist/antagonist(usually) in the game.
Where as in MMOs, yes, like you've said, a leveling system through dedicated zones and unlocked content based on not necessarily adventuring, but progression.

Regardless, it's role playing. How in depth and non linear is a certain game with it's role play?

This is like someone calling a dog a cat. No! You can't will something to be different than it is.

At its most basic form the game is a multiplayer game. The devs have said, "lots of multiplayer games on the console don't have text chat". The only games that come to mind are Battlefield and COD(Game's that have text chat on PC but not on console). Completly different games by design.

Look, we are trying to do content with specifically designed boss fights that require a certain group(normally a tank, healer, and a few dps guys). Give us the tools to find that group! Namely TEXT CHAT. Btw, your group tool is still busted as hell. WTF, why would I want to do Veteran Darkshade with VR 2 guys! Im a VR 10 tank! If like a shot at loot that is my level and you cannot expect VR2 guys to do my level. FAIL!

And, for God's sake, this game is a MMO. Don't be lazy.

Let's not get too sidetracked googling for labels for a game when we already know perfectly well what it is. This thread isn't titled 'Is ESO an MMO?' It's about the text chat and how a shortsighted and seemingly arbitrary decision made by the devs (who probably never actually go near a console without protective gear on) has blighted this game experience for so many.
