With Horses Becoming Account Wide...

What's going to happen to those of us who bought 2+ of the same horse?

The way I'm understanding the change, as long as you have bought a horse once, then we will be able to use that "horse skin" on any character. If I have a Gaited Horse on 2 different characters, Am I SOL on the "wasted" 42k.

Kind of. But both characters will start out with a riding skill based on whatever you put into their individual horses. So if they are both maxed out on speed, then both characters will start out with 60 speed (actually, maybe it's 59?). If you had only bought a horse on one character and maxed out the speed on it, both characters would now get to use that horse, but only the character you actually bought it on would use it with 60 speed.

Could have done the same with an Imperial Horse though. This hardly seem's fair.

What would you suggest they do? Rollback the entire change over it?

I for one wouldn't mind getting a refund. Letting us sell our horses back after the conversion for full price would easily fix this.

At least future generations of players won't have to buy those horses multiple times. I always thought horses shoiuld be account-wide like banks, so i'm glad they did this change.

I only just bought one horse for the first time tonight. I feel for those who spent hundreds of G's on multiple horses. I spent 17k and we will be even. That's not right. I support full refund for those "wasted" duplicates.
  • Der_Deutsche_Hase
I'm more concerned about getting my 7.3k back since the basic horse is now 10k instead of 17.3k.

Oh come on. You know they arent going to code a refund for the maybe 3-4 players this affects. Just have to pull those big boy pants up and move on.

Well, you couldn't have done exactly the same with an Imperial horse, though, because you'd be 10 spots behind. Granted, it's not a huge difference, and it would only take 10 days and 2500 gold in 1.6 to make up the difference (which would be a significant net savings of gold), but it is a bit of a difference.

Personally I'm so happy with the change overall that I really don't care about the fact that I've spent a lot of gold that I didn't have to - especially considering how quickly I find I make gold.

    Now, having said that...

This isn't a bad idea at all. Have a period of time after we go to 1.6 during which you can sell back your horses either for full price, or a significant portion of full price (much more than you can sell it back for now). Seems pretty fair to me.

It would be 60. It counts the across the board +1 from maxing out a horse. At the moment, there's a bug where you only get credit for what you fed the horse. So if you had a horse that started with 25 speed, and you upgraded it to 75, you'll only get 50 when the system converts. I suspect that will be fixed somehow before launch. But, we'll see.

I also own two Gaited horses, one on my main and another on my Dunmer, however I welcome this change. I have every type of horse spread out throughout my account, being able to use any colour I want regardless of character is worth the money I wasted on my second gaited horse. It's very worth it, in my opinion.
I spend way too much time and money on this game.

I'm not saying it's not worth it. But for those who don't play a lot, or do nothing but Non-Vet PvP (which drains funds) wasting money on horses sucks. 84k is a huge hit for me.

Well, 42k is a lot of money to pretty much anyone. I would still appreciate my money back from my second gaited horse but, I don't expect it, nor is it necessary for me to be happy. I understand that ZOS has better things to do than give people refunds for horses, if they do, I'll be very pleased, but I'd rather they work on 1.6.

It is all relative, I bought 4 speed horses, a pack mule and a stam horse. Knowing that gold is being thrown away sucks. But I am more concerned that when my 75 speed horses are converted I am only lvl 50 in speed in my riding skills. Sure, that is all that I spent in upgrading the horses but it makes it even worse looking at the how much that initial cost is now wasted. I guess I should just be happy that I now have more skins to throw on my horses

    I have 17k spd 10 stm20 p20
    42k mule pk50
    42k black spd 30 stm 20

If your horses have any elements, they'll keep those. If you have a character with multiple horses that have different visuals, they'll gain ALL the visuals that character has on any horse.

So, if you have a character who has an armored horse, and another with bags, then all of their horses will now have bags AND armor.

my main has one horse that has +31 carry and 51 speed overall.

Now my speed horse was the one with 25 base speed and i maxed it to 51% and put the rest of the point in stam.

On the PTS i now have 26 speed and 31 carry and 20 stam. This seems to indicate all horse speeds got buffed to base 25% as i move just as fast (if not faster) as the live server.

I have the gaited horse on two characters, so I guess I will just have to consider the purchase price of one of them a loss. Which was what again, 40K gold or so?
Sure, it'd have been nice to have known this before, but... not gonna stress out about wasting game money, I'll just play a while and earn it all over again.

Not like the game has any really big gold sinks yet... once horses are bought and inventories & bank maxed. So I suspect most people will end up sitting on a big pile of gold anyways in due time...

I have yet to buy a horse. Should I hold on on buying one after the patch?

Actually...im pretty sure, the horses that you buy that have plus 10 in either category get you the 60% but being as the imperial horse doesn't it only hits 50%.

I would probably buy cheapest and start leveling speed. 1.6 won't be on the live server for at least 2- 3 weeks if not 4.

If your a sorcerer or night blade you'll be alright without one. You could level rapid for faster movement speed as well.
Of course if you get the cheapest horse you could start to max one of three areas to have it when 1.6 goes live. Or if you buy the more expensive ones, you'll have the max 60% instead of 50%.

I think what everyone is referring to is a bug, if you have the max speed horse(fully leveled) you should have max speed.

Unless ZOS took back their original statements...which....we all know how that goes.

I am a sorcerer but I have a templar as well and anyway a horse can be nice :D Just don't want to make the wrong choice since lots are changing. So cheapest horse and train speed? Will I have any advantage if I buy the most expensive horse now?

If you own the imperial edition, get 3 imperial horses (for 3 gold + 110 gold for stable space) and start levelling one of the stats on each of them. That way, you´ll be able to level 3 stats at the same time until 1.6. After 1.6, you´ll only be able to level 1 stat per day.

If you don´t own the imperial edition, you can always buy the 17k horse and just start levelling. All horses will be equal after 1.6, so you won´t be missing out.

Don't own the imperial edition so 17K horse it is. How about colours though? Do these change only after training? So right now a 17 K horse and a 47K horse have the same colour? I don't suppose we know the colours of the horses after the update?

The 42.7k horses still cost that much on the PTS, but they´re just there for the different colour. Basically, expensive collectible horse skins.

    Still the same colours.
