Player can not be found bug

This happened to me for the first time today. A guildmate tried to invite me into a group by clicking on my name in guild roster. He kept getting a "player can not be found" message. Later on I sent someone a whisper in Craglorn to join a group. They replied back in zone chat that they tried to invite me as well as reply via whisper but they kept getting the "player can not be found" message as well. I completely quit the game and restarted and that never resolved the problem.

Anyone know if this is a known bug?

Make sure you weren't accidentally marked as show offline. I think you do this on the guild tab.

Do you have any special characters in your character name?

Characters that are not uniform across all languages.

    Hey there @Rescorla_ESO,

If the player has a special character in their name, this is likely to occur. The solution is for the affected player to contact customer support to request a name change. The player will be able to rename their character exactly as it was, special characters and all.

We're continuing to look into this issue on the back-end in the meantime.

The character I was playing at the time did indeed have a special character (á) for one of the letters. However my account @ name does not have a special character in it. When my guildmate right-clicked on my @name (which doesn't have the special character in it) in the guild roster, he should have been able to invite me to his group. When I sent a whisper to someone in zone, they should have been able to right-click my name in chat and invite me to group or reply to the whisper.

Are you saying this is a known problem that can intermittently occur with characters with special characters in their name? The problem has not occurred again since the day I created this thread so maybe this was just a one time anomaly.
