Nightblade: MAJOR GLITCH needs fixing + My feedback

dardywood69connectb16_ESO
Dear All,

I just tried the NB changes on the PTS. The changes are ok-ish.

However YOU STILL HAVEN'T FIXED THE BIGGEST PROBLEM.
What problem? Well the triggering cost of Dark Cloak (any morph).
I posted ages ago this: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/91088/nb-dark-cloak-triggering-cost and it describes the issue pretty well.

And no one ever talks about this MAJOR GLITCH. I mean do people even know it's there? All I hear is talks about the dot's removing stealth... It's true, but don't you think that fixing a TRIGGERING cost is more important?

Anyways, just a reminder, this needs fixing ASAP.

In terms of feedback:

Assassination:

-Haste morph (incapacitate): ok changes, makes the morph more viable but not OP.
-Master assassin passive: Addition of increased spell power seems logical, justified change in my opinion.
-Reaper's Mark: Stacking was pretty much a glitch, and correcting glitches is always good.

Shadow:

-Path of Drakness: Glitch is corrected and more damage, will probably make it more attractive. Ok change I guess
-Refreshing shadows passive: Ok for light and heavy armor users, useless for medium. All medium wearing NB are already overcharged in Stamina regen.
-Refreshing Path: Good change, adds a little bit of synergy.

Siphoning:

-Leeching strikes: Tooltip correction = good. Nerf=ok, the skill is still pretty good.

PvP feedback:

Overall the changes are alright, try not to up NB too much because when used properly it is already deadly in PvP.

The class needs fixing, not buffing in my opinion. The medium armor tree however needs Buffing, big time. For once, the detection radius seems to be the exact same for all players in PvP (so one of the medium passives works only 50%)... Second, light armor gives reduction to costs, spell pen... Medium should have those as well for stamina and armor pen.

Also, Magelight gives 20% spell crit but I can't see any toggle for weapon crit... Weird to have a game where casters crit more than melee...

That's it!

Thanks for reading.
Any reactions, please comment, and don't be rude!

Literally nothing changed with the way people play NB, I didn't put Path of Darkness or haste on my hotbar because they buffed them and I know many people who still avoid using them also because the skills are still painfully average.

    -Path of Darkness
    -Blur
    -Haste
    -Aspect of Terror
    -Shadow Image
    -Agony

I still see none of these skills getting any sort of use past VR1, Teleport strike would be there but I still see it getting used in PVP so in my eyes it's still very much viable.

Path of darkness to me just seems as though the small damage buff it got just wasn't enough in my opinion, I mean one of the morphs to the ability is twisting paths which is meant to add more damage to an ability that literally does hardly any damage at all and yet the area is very narrow making it really hard to use in PVP.

Blur, still doesn't do anything for anybody, on paper the ability sounds quite good all abilities have a 15% chance to miss you, the morphs either set your target off balance if they miss or gives extra miss chance upon activation of the ability, either way both of the morphs are very subpar and definetely something needs to change, I'm not sure increasing dodge chance is a great idea because then I think it'll become OP.

-Haste, the problem with this ability is the simple fact most of our DPS comes from just skills alone and I hate to say it but this skill sucks so bad because auto-attacks in this game suck so bad, I feel as though haste should buff all team members and give a speed buff, make it a support ability.

-Aspect of Terror, now I've never actually used this ability but from what I've heard the ability works the way it's intended however the duration is too short to actually be considered effective and the enemies become too spread out to actually make the ability effective, you sort of want to keep mobs grouped up.

-Shadow image, DPS still sucks and they no longer draw aggro.

-Agony, this ability is really bleh. for PVP it's a nice little utility to have, however it suffers in PVE so badly, the root most of the time just won't work on bosses and the damage is really average, I'm aware DK also have an ability exactly like this, I think both these ability need to be buffed somehow.

I've had this happen often. It really does need to be fixed. I've had it happen with all morphs.

Yeah, I tried out some of the skills that were changed. Thought okay I will go ahead and level up some of these on my dw/bow nb. Sorry but went back to my regular routine because most of these skills are really not that great. Aspect can be useful sometimes, but still the duration is not long enough. The shadow, well if they made it so it would attack the next enemy after you have killed the first one you set it on instead of standing there like a lame @ss. Don't even bother with haste, blur, path or agony. Just dump these and give us something a little more useful?

Put simply, it's not a PVP skill. It's a tank skill that works hand in hand with Veil of blades. It may not do so much damage but what it does do is give you ultimate fast. The bigger the mob the more ultimate you get.
Not all skills will be good in PVP on any class.

Overall I agree with your points though.

Path of darkness/or its morphs should also slow/snare/ or immobilize the enemy. That would make it worthy to have on the skillbar.

Did they fix Haste not affecting ranged weapons? Right now, the only real use I'm seeing for Haste is its synergy with leeching strikes, it would be a good way to fill up both bars in about 3 seconds. However, I only use leeching with bow, and as far as I know Haste doesn't work with bow.

As for the other skills, the Nightblade class skills just plain need a rework, there are so many just painfully subpar, no-niche, space wasting skills that I would never consider spending a skill point on. The list the OP gave about sums it up -

    -Path of Darkness
    -Blur
    -Aspect of Terror
    -Summon Shade

The final big pain in the butt for me as a Nightblade is the fact that spell and armor penetration does nothing in PVE. Surprise Attack and Mark Target should be two of the best skills for a Nightblade, period, but besides the damage from Surpise Attack and the heal on kill from mark target, Surprise does nothing and Mark Target not only does nothing, but makes you hugely vulnerable. Trading 75% damage mitigation for 75% increased penetration is great - trading nothing for 75% reduced damage mitigation is idiotic.

Aspect of Terror is, in my opinion, the most underrated skill the NB has. Any mob that can be cc-ed, can be chained feared (this includes those quest bosses). It makes most fights of 3 enemies a joke.

In PvP, it is awesome. Once Morphed to Mass Hysteria, not only does it fear for 4 seconds, it snares and reduces weapon power by 40% for 3s. You can't block it and it drains a TON of stamina if you do break out of it. It makes you extremely difficult to kill in small scale battles and in large scale battles, it's great at dispersing a group of people trying to stack on top of each out.

I would like to see them increase Mass Hysteria from 2 targets to like 6 (AoE cap) since, you know, it's call MASS HYSTERIA but for what it does, it does it very well.

Armor nerf works on mobs.. but many mobs have near nothing in the way of armor.

Aspect of Terror is a great underrated skill that novice nightblades need to start using...

When I said armor pen doesn't work, I didn't mean that you don't get ANY benefit from it, but the amount of extra damage generated is pretty insignificant, even, as far as I can tell, on boss fights. That traded off for 75% more damage taken, no matter what the benefit given, is crap.

They should have done something like, "Ignore 75% of targets armor and spell resistance, and reduce your own armor and spell resistance by the amount ignored." Mob has no armor? Fine, don't take mine.

Aspect of terror I can see uses for, but it's a lot of magicka, and short duration, only affects 2 targets, and doesn't work on dungeon type bosses. I just can't seem to make an argument for finding room in my bar. For PVP, sure.

Yes, this is a big issue and I cannot understand how it is not fixed yet. It has been reported by so many people and I never heard anything about a fix.

People keep saying they heard of a friend of friend of friend of their neighbors that plays a NB and can catch up with dks and sorcs and this guy just never shows up. He would be a rock star if he existed.

Yup, it's the nightblade's oldest bug and it still hasn't even been acknowledged by zenimax. It's gone to the point I don't even notice it anymore...apart from when I run my LA/Staves build and spam impulse/drain to almost zero mana ><

Why is our escape tool so frigging bugged lol ?

Dark Cloak still requires approximately 700 mana to cast at minimum. Sure would be nice to get some kind of explanation if it's supposed to be this way, or acknowledgement that it's a bug and it's being looked into. It makes no sense...this appears to one of the only skills in this game that behaves this way and it's frustrating to die seeing that you had 500 mana and couldn't cast your survival skill which only costs 400 mana.
