So oil pots are quickly becoming useless thanks to a bug

I see more and more people abusing the bug so that they take no damage when they push.

It works against all siege not just oilpots.

Its on the list of bugs to fix, they just have so many bugs to fix and the devs don't care about PVP as the % of players who PVP is low compared to the number of players effected by the other bugs.

Bugs effecting the highest number of players are always worked on first (unless the bug is an easy fix)

That the one where if you hit a bunch of players at once nothing happens?

The problem is, this is a gamebreaking bug so it needs to be fixed before the next month or cyrodiil will have even less players.

No it's something else and easily replicated to the point everybody I see is using it now.

Siege weapons and oilpots have a target list as to what they hit and have a max damage they can do, if the first thing they hit has endless hit-points, that object takes all the damage and the players within the space of that object get no damage.

Players have worked out what skill creates an 'endless hit point' object and dropping it in the area and therefore making themselves immune to siege\oil damage (and any other siege weapons they put there)

That 'skill' needs to be fixed, its always been this way, but only a few knew it, now almost everyone in PVP knows and uses this 'bug'

And if you don't know it by now im not spreading it more than it already is.

Yeah, standing in friendly caltrops makes you immune to siege damage.

That's the bug people are talking about, yes. Since it affects only PvP and can be dispelled if you know it exists, it seems pretty dumb to keep it a secret.

It's also easier to stop yourself from accidentally exploiting it once you know why your team mates keep tossing caltrops on top of you.

ESO needs to start banning people who are doing all these exploits.

I mean an AD group actually streams themselves doing all these exploits, caltrops, pulling themselves behind scroll gates, etc.

Yet nothing is done aboot it. I understand that most players are here for pve, but ignoring all these bugs for this long is just going to cause the pvp players to leave anyway.

They are probably working on it because my previous thread isn't bumped anymore regardless of post, but they need to act fast as it is another damage control for them if it is posted on other sites.

    I have a great idea:
Rename the caltrops into "Siege Shield" and change that animation into something that looks like a shield.

Bug fixed within 5 minutes ;)

This thread just pisses me off..Here im trying new methods and rolling and dodging and investing time and money into siege engines..and these so called "leet" players arent dying or even being harmed by my siege weapons and im like "I cant wait to invest in THAT armor"..gah...unbelievable.
  • cisadanepajsuxrwb17_ESO
I would say this is not an exploit. Probably a bug or simply bad design by the devs. I am also starting to wonder why people throw caltrops while attacking a wall lulz

Its an exploit if they know its bugged and use it accordingly..and i would say judging by the fields of caltrops i saw tonight...its being exploited.;)

Bloody disgraceful seeing people exploit a "Captain Obvious" bug.

We just saw a whole raid of Aldmeri Dominion sitting in piles of caltrops on the walls and at the gate against a really small force holding inside. Just... what... why...

Stoopid knows no bounds. It's gonna be funny hearing "Caltrops aren't protecting me from siege damage--OMG" when this is all fixed.

An Exploit is using broken game mechanics to bypass legitimate game interaction and gain more EXP loot AP etc. I do not believe this is an exploit. I believe it's a broken mechanic....but not an exploit. Why is it the players using an ability in an area where they are supposed to use them....is an exploit? Discovering how they behave...how do the players know they are not intended to work this way?

This problem...is either A) working as intended (sorcerer's can dispel caltrops, so with a little co-ordination...boom baby!) and let's face it PvP is all about co-ordination, or B) a Bug that is on the list. It's truly a layer issue as I see it. With caltrops down the siege weapons hit the caltrops first. Since that layer has infinite hit points....no damage gets thru to players.

Though, it's possible, the game developers haven't seen this before as in the Beta it was probably not real easy to get to a high enough assault rank to get caltrops.

It's not an exploit though. All the whiners saying it's an exploit...no.

Exploiting is things like the Fungal Grotto re spawn thing. That....That was an exploit.

"Leet" players are the ones that search the forums, youtube, rumor chain, and every nook and cranny for an exploit that will finally allow them to feel good about themselves. No one knows if they are actually any good because no one has seen them play with out every exploit. My guess is their talent has atrophied from years and years of easymoding.

If I wanted to mash buttons and feel good about myself I'd go to chucky cheese. But then again I don't need to exploit a game, or chucky cheese to derive my self confidence.

You sir are the real leet gamer. When the exploits get fixed your resolve and practice will make you a hardened vet while the exploiters are scurrying away to discover how to play legitimately.

You know you just defined the whole thing in your first statement. Do you really think caltrops are intended to nullify all damage? Why would they even add a siege shield if that's the case.

As you said utilizing something that is clearly not intended for benefit is an exploit. Quit being so obtuse.

I doubt anyone is getting banned for it but it's trivializing Cyrodill as it gains momentum in usage.
