Skill Point Cancellation. Why return ALL the points? Stupid unnecessary money sink.

Consider it carefully? It forces you to choose skills, because you can't play without using them, you don't have anything else to put the points into, then it offers you better skills, which you don't know are better until you use them, ie put a point into them, it gives you crap skills, which you don't know are crap until you use them, ie put a point into them, then forces you to respec and it rips you off left right and center for the pleasure.. What's to consider? That the loss of the last weeks saving of money was DESIGNED into the game.

Look at the discussion about 5 skill slots + ultimate skill. ok, x2 at lv 15..

Now look at how you've progressed your character.. you've got a skill point in 2h axe, 1-2 in dual wield, 1 in restostaff, 1 in sword and shield..

You've put points in light armour, medium armour and heavy armour..

    You've got 6 attack skills and 4 buff/heals..

But only 5 slots. Being able to swap stuff around, yeh all good. When your first char is so messed up, you've got 2 choices.. reroll.. or goto the shrine and pray to god for 2500 gold and he gives you 25 skill pts.. great, if you wanted all of them back. Why not pray and then it puts you in your skills page, you can remove pts as you want, add them where you want and it charges you 100g for each point removed!

The current system is stupid. What's going to happen when you've level 30 or 40 or 50 and you find you have 4-5 skill points in unnecessary places? You get them all back, you put them all back in exactly the same places, except for the 4-5 you wanted to move! That's downright moronic.

And whats the cost? 40000 gold.. to move 5 pts..

I think they do this so your build has a more lasting effect you want to wisely consider. I doubt their intention was to create a gold sink.

If it was easy to change your points around your character's build would be more like an adaptable template instead of its own unique blend of hard choices. So while I have wished for exactly the same you thing your OP asks for - I can understand why they do this.

I do not mind that you can not refound Skills: Because even if you wasted a skill point, it's not a big deal, you play a bit more and you get easily another skill point.
Once it's a question of MORPHING, its more annoying. If you are doing a mistake in your choice of morphing and are pretty far into your character build and can not possibibly afford the cost of respeciing entierly, you are screwed with a bad spell that could have been a great asset for your build.

This is the reason why I agree with the OP, and I'd like to be able to respe my build Skill point by Skill point. Even if they have to triple the cost to keep it balanced.

Its an excellent money sink to give value to gold and should not be changed in any way.

Thousands of extra skill points won't help you when you want to change a morph. Maybe they'll give us a refund every time they tweak the game balance, but I'm going to guess this was deliberately designed as a huge money sink.

You could be right about the money sink. What else are you going to spend gold on after you have your 42kPony and a fully upgraded backpack/bank?

Why do you have to spend your gold on something?

Gold sinks are what enable gold sellers in the first place.

Gold sinks are meant to combat inflation. Since the game has the potential to constantly create more currency with every mob that is slain and every item drop that is vendored, if we didn't have gold sinks, then the amount of currency in circulation would soar and inflation would drive prices for basic goods through the ceiling.

When you factor in all the gold that was created by duping and other similar exploits as well as the ever-present gold sellers, we could actually use a few more gold sinks rather than less.

Removing gold sinks would likely benefit the gold sellers because of the inflation that would occur. Especially after the game has been around for a few months. After 6 months with inflation driving prices up and all the existing players hoarding large sums of gold, we would find ourselves in a game where everyone who has played since launch has millions of gold, basic goods cost tens to hundreds of thousands of gold to buy, and new players start out with zero gold and no choice other than to buy from gold sellers if they ever want to be able to purchase enough Dwarven Oil for a single item upgrade.

With a lot of utility skills, I don't need to reset them most of the times.

If I'm tired to play as tank and want to switch to caster, all I need is to reset 1h+s and heavy armor skill lines and pick destr staff + light armor. So ability to reset skill line helps me a lot.

At veteran levels, when I have 200+ skills, I don't even need to reset skill line itself. All I need to do is just switch morph on few abilities. I just don't want to click on skills 200-300 times, if I need to pick 1 different morph.

    Then here is a suggestion, for both parties;
When you go to a shrine, there will be 3 options to reset your skill, they will ALL cost the same (by same, I mean they will all have the full cost of resetting every skill). However, in addition to the regular full reset option, one option will be resetting all morphs back to their basic form and the 3rd option will be resetting 1 skill line completely to 0. It will be compromising (because I believe we do need a gold sink) and it would help with us lazy people that hates putting all those 200 skill points back one by one.

Having to spend 10-20k gold just to flip a couple points around or change a morph is totally ***.

And if you are claiming this was a design decision, then guess what? It was another poor decision in a long line of poor decisions..

The idea that you should now be punished for wanting to change your mind and spec a line is ridiculous.

Let's not forget that everyone is paying real cash to play this game, so if I want to re-spec and test out a new line or morph I should be able to do that without breaking my in-game wallet.

Making gold worthless is how you stop gold sellers.

    42k horse - achievement reward
Respec - free once a week
Repair - crafters can repair their own armor
Bank/Inventory upgrades - achievements, BoP boss drops
Motifs - Chance to learn on research
    Best equipment should be BoP

Reduce the need for gold, reduce the desire to buy gold, reduce the gold sellers.

I was actually surprised to see gold sellers in this game because it's been so long that AAA MMOs have been designed with such archaic mechanics that enable gold sellers to thrive.

High cost respec is fine and I agree with it...

Having to completely respec in order to choose different morphs is NOT okay.

Having to pay 20k + gold due to tooltips being vague, misleading, inaccurate, and skills being bugged is NOT okay.

I would be fine with the current system if they added another temple that you could pray at to reverse single morphs for like 500g.
