What does this mean? (Regarding purchased Antiquity Skill Line)

I made a new character and really don't want to level antiquities again. So I took a look at the Skill Line in the Crown Store and it said this:

"Instantly advances the Excavation and Scrying skill lines to maximum rank. All abilities contained within the skill line arrive unranked."

What exactly does that mean?

It means that you will instantly receive that skill line as if you leveled it fully. If it were to be a skill line with skills needing to be leveled and morphed, the individual skills would still need to be leveled to unlock the morphs. But since scrying and excavation are passives only, that aspect doesn't apply. It also means that you still have to spend skill points to 'rank' the skills.

You'll still have to spend the skill points to get the skill and if it was an active skill, you'd have to use exp to level/morph it.

That’s a copypasta of the other purchaseable skill lines with active skills, so you will still need to gain the XP in them to morph them at rank IV.

Scrying/Excavation don’t have active skills, so that part of the description is irrelevant.

It will give you the skill at max level, so you can just spend your skill points in those passives at will.

It means the skill line itself will be max level but the skills within the skill line will be at their base level. For antiquities that doesn’t matter that much so it’s probably a standard disclaimer copied from other skill lines where you do have to level up individual skills to be able to morph them. For antiquities you’ll just need to put in skill points.

Tip for leveling antiquities on other characters without buying the skill line - you can use your max level character to scry the antiquity and then dig it up with your other character. The experience will go to the character digging it up, so you can already dig up purple quality ones even if you don’t have the ability to scry for them yet.

Because the copy-and-paste probably isn't from other purchasable skill lines, but from a template where they just replace the name.

How do we know that they use templates? Because sometimes they forget to replace the name:

The skill line is levelled to max on a character that didn't have to grind it up.

You get the entire skill line fully leveled, skipping the grind to level it up. Something you've recently posted about wishing could be cut down with XP scrolls.

If you need skill points to go with your skill line, ZOS also sells skyshards for alt characters. These are all things I tend not to buy as I'm not the target audience for such a product. Perhaps the same is true for you?

I've never purchased a skill line or skyshards or anything like this before. But the grind for antiquities is just so bad that I can't see myself doing it again.

I always purchase it. Not having to grind 30 green leads is worth the money. And glowing treasure chests are nice. 2nd best addition to the game -swimming mounts is best especially when grinding a new character or companion and you have to swim to that **** Greenshade dolman.
