Just a Weapon Concept Idea

this is a simple one but i want the next weapon category if they ever add new weapons to be pole arms with they would work like how 1 and 2 handed weapons work with multiple "different" weapons that provide different buffs from the passives and maybe even if they are feeling adventurous, maybe even make it work like staves slightly altering the way the abilites work ever so slightly with you would have halberds, spears, and glaives mostly cause i love halberds especially but pole arms in general and really would love to see them in game.

The main issue I see people bringing up is that new models would have to be made for at least 3 different kinds of polearms for every existing style and for all styles yet to be made. My main issue with them is this: what makes polearms special?

Why would you want to use polearms over dual wielding, staves, 2 handers or sword and shield? dual wield has the best damage output, 2 handers have good burst damage and execute potential, staves have a variety of good offensive and defensive options, and sword and shield is the go to for tanky builds. It seems like most of the niches have been filled in already so what's the use of having polearms apart from aesthetic diversity?

My best suggestion for polearms would be to gear their passives toward a sort of 'parry and riposte' playstyle that would encourage players to brawl. The skills would probably have good aoe skills, taking advantage of a polearms natural range to provide cleave.

If you have any ideas for the skills and passives for a polearm skill line, I would like to hear them. It's always interesting hear new ideas.

i do have some ideas with the first would be that they would focus on being versitile weapons with a lot of range and mobility as i would imagine the abilities being very similar to the look of a lot of aedric spear line abilites but instead of being just rips of it, would be like a mix between aedric spear abilities and 2 handed abilities with sweaping cleave attacks and armor piercing thrusts with high mobility and maybe a ult that could even be a AoE major breach or maybe even major vulnerability proc as irl, a lot of pole arms tend to have either sharp tips or sideways spikes for the ability to use the length of the of the weapon to intensly pierce armor while also often having wide axe type blades for sweeping attacks on unarmored opponents.

as for its passives, i think having built in passives like the crusher and weakening enchantments offering unique weapon and spell damage reduction and armor pen separate from cowardice, maim, breach, and vulnerability as well as maybe even also having minor and maybe even a new source of major brittleness to help add to what they can offer thats different but their drawbacks would be higher resource costs, slower attacks with maybe even charge ups on their attacks to make it so you need to manage your resources and positioning while using them more intensely than other weapons basically make them higher skill floor but higher potential weapons for those who can make builds to fit them in.
