Is playing with random people (random bg or random dungeon/trial) considered as playing solo or playing with others?
Interesting result so far, especially considering that I often saw people arguing that endeavours to encourage people to do group content were a good thing - but it seems that many people just have no interest in grouping at all and don't wish for that type of "encouragement".
I definitely don't want the game to "encourage" me to group up; it just makes me cranky. If I want to group, I will; don't need a naggy endeavor (or golden pursuit).
I have tried over the years to find a group to tackle daily writs/collect surveys with alas I have not been successful in this particular endeavour.
I was somewhat disappointed when these activities - that consume a substantial amount of my playing time - were not included in the group finder either.

That also explains, why the current development is going in that direction...
My personal game time are dungeons, trials and bgs. Therefore almost 100% not solo.

They may never make it to trials and end game if that is the case. Solo play is all that is left for them. It may be more than the “gatekeeping” people claim is the motivating factor. (Of course I think it is, but the comments above support my opinion.)
ZOS should take heed of this if they plan to continue to have support of these activities.
