I am always talking to folks in game but as far as playing ....unless I'm playing my fake Tank I'm playing solo

I went with 75% but I'm probably closer to 90% solo. I jump in on world bosses and incursions since I cannot solo anything DLC based. But to be fully open I would probably group more if time allowed.

its a mix for me, i do trials with a guild, and i run dungeons with friends

but i also do a lot of solo stuff too, usually farming new stuff i tend to do solo because i can work it my own pace while i prefer archive and dungeons and such with other people because mindless killing enemies gets kind of boring when solo

Pure soloist here!! I do quests and housing most of the time. Mainly solo PVE and farming some items. Rarely do I do PVP, only when certain events happen or if I want an item as a reward, like the Grand Gallery of Tamriel, I did Battlegrounds for the first time - it was fun, no issues. But I will stick to solo stuff.

First - I want to give HackTheMinotaur kudos for all the help videos supplied over the years. I encourage everyone to review them on Youtube. (And NO - he didn't pay me to say that :) )

My time has been almost exclusively Cyro. Although, I haven't been playing very much recently due to my distaste for current conditions in PCNA Grayhost. Hopefully, that will change if ZOS can figure out how to get the Vengeance PVP campaign a permanent option. Every once in a while, I will solo group dungeons just to keep my reflexes sharp. But I prefer to play solo, just because I don't want to be a hindrance to other, more serious players.

PVE: Solo. I can't stand those uber-players, who criticise everything and everyone. Running like crazy through dungeons, when it's not a speedrun, etc.

PVP: Sometimes I have grpd-up in Cyro, but been a while since I did that as well. I find it better to do it the way I want, and when I want.

Interesting result so far, especially considering that I often saw people arguing that endeavours to encourage people to do group content were a good thing - but it seems that many people just have no interest in grouping at all and don't wish for that type of "encouragement".

In dungeons and trials it would be definitely group play, as you try to solve a task together. As healer and tank you are trying to keep your allies alive and as dd you make sure to progress through the content.

When it comes to cyrodiil or bgs, then some parts can be considered solo play.
If you are ignoring the objective in battlegrounds and are just going for kills, then it's solo play.
If you are playing the objective, then you are trying to win with your team.

I have tried over the years to find a group to tackle daily writs/collect surveys with alas I have not been successful in this particular endeavour.

I was somewhat disappointed when these activities - that consume a substantial amount of my playing time - were not included in the group finder either.

I haven't lost hope that the devs will address this oversight and I eagerly await the PTS patch notes cycle after cycle.

Regrettably is always about PvP this and combat that and never about addressing the lonely existence of the humble labourer.

More like 90 percent solo but that wasn't an option so I choose 75.

I do usually group finder stuff with others. And world events when there are others there already. That's about it.

I am not surprised with the poll results like some are. For most people this is an Elder Scrolls first.

I definitely don't want the game to "encourage" me to group up; it just makes me cranky. If I want to group, I will; don't need a naggy endeavor (or golden pursuit).

From 2015 through 2019, I grouped every day for PVP in Cyrodiil. All my lowbies were docked at the Cyrodiil stablemaster as soon as level 10 happened. My characters hit vet in Black Water Blade. January 2016, I took my 8th pvp-leveled character into Vet Cyrodiil. It was enjoyable back then. 🥹

Me neither. I've only got so much freetime, I want to decide freely what I do with it, including what I do in a game.

    .

Not sure if this is a serious comment but most endeavors and all writs and surveys ARE solo. Writs are crafting and surveys don't help anyone you're grouped with because its specific to you unless they just happen to have the exact same survey on their character.

As to the original question. I group for trials and dungeons and some world bosses.
I enjoy being able to do the overland stuff solo and at my own pace. Whenever I did try to group with someone, one of us was always reading the quests faster than the other and clicking out of it leaving the other person to miss the dialog.

If they make doing overland story impossible to solo, its definitely going to make me think about whether I have a future playing this game any more.

More than 80% of the current voters are mainly playing solo, which surprises me a lot actually.

That also explains, why the current development is going in that direction...

My personal game time are dungeons, trials and bgs. Therefore almost 100% not solo.

I play solo 80% of the time, because dungeon queues take so long. You have to do many things solo, like story zone quests. Antiquities. Farming.

Group content is the highlight, but the rewards are so poor, im just doing it for lead drops and monster helms, which i could buy with gold.

It seems designed for solo play. Being able to buy monster helms, for instance shows they arent locking much behind cooperative play.

I play this game mostly solo. I prefer being able to adventure and do quests at my own pace. When I grouped up for dungeon runs I was rushed through the dungeon and never got to experience the quests there. It felt like cooperative play was a hinderance to the overall questing experience. I got some groups together to do dungeons for the story but sometimes I still get a group that will still rush ahead a bit too fast and warp me to a boss I didn't want to face at that moment. I do like doing the trials and the organization that comes with it. Cyrodill pvp is fun when the server doesn't lag and you get a decent group together. But overall I wish there was a solo difficulty for dungeons just so I could go through it at my own pace at the very least for the initial quest and skill point.

Honestly would be awesome if they gave increasing rewards for doing activities with your guild or just group content in general but I haven't seen anything like that yet in a significant degree. Maybe another rotating shop for leads, motifs, gold, and gear? I don't know, just coming up with an idea.

It might sound strange but playing ESO solo (at least the way I do it) is very close to what I imagined when I first heard about MMOs back in the 90's.

I'm playing my RPG, maybe doing a quest, maybe just exploring and as I'm doing that I'll meet other people out in the world, like in any RPG, but some of them will be other players doing their quests (or exploring)! Maybe we just cross paths briefly or maybe it turns out we're going the same way and we end up travelling together for a bit, or even killing the same enemies, clearing the same delve or whatever. We can play together for as much or as little as we each want. Sometimes one thing leads to another and I end up part of a big group taking down a world boss or something, or I get chatting to someone and make a new friend. But I can always go back to doing my quests when I'm ready.

I know it won't sound very exciting to some people but a big part of the appeal of RPGs for me is finding out what happens as I'm playing the game, and an MMO adds a whole other level of surprise to it. It means even going through the same area I've done many times before might turn out differently because of who is around and what they're doing.

Interesting, it sounds like some of the negative experiences of fake tanks and healers is driving people away from group dungeons, especially since so many people here support them. They may never make it to trials and end game if that is the case. Solo play is all that is left for them. It may be more than the “gatekeeping” people claim is the motivating factor. (Of course I think it is, but the comments above support my opinion.)

ZOS should take heed of this if they plan to continue to have support of these activities.

Not sure if that is the reason.
I think the reason is, that players don't make the step to join a like-minded guild. And there is definitely one that is matching with everyone.
Being in said guilds also solves the problem of encountering fake roles in dungeons.
