    Probably about 75%-ish now.

I started 100% solo, but then I started getting into group content about 9 months after I started. I found out I liked dungeons a lot.

Now... well, the stories are getting boring, and I'm kind of over seeing the same handful of obnoxious 'fan-favorites' in each zone, while the characters I liked are left forgotten. The stories have really gotten point-and-click and I think the quality of the writing has really gone downhill. I recently picked Skyrim back up for a hardcore playthrough, and of course the new Oblivion remaster is here too - both are much better to get my solo Elder Scrolls fix, and then I've got games like BG3 for the incredible characterization and storytelling.

So really all ESO has going for it is group stuff, and even then I'm not as excited about it as I used to be. I love the character creation and storytelling parts of ESO, and... well, I really want a new Class, not this idea of "hey, don't you think that all of your characters should be mushed together into one?" that we're getting. Especially with the entire feeling that not Subclassing is "wrong" - I built my characters around their Classes. It's breaking their lore to take something else. But the fact that the game (and honestly, half of the forums) are essentially saying "not Subclassing is the wrong answer and you deserve to only RP with them then!" makes me less and less interested to log in.

It's not even that I don't like Subclassing - I think it's a great idea to add for people who want to use it. I just really wish they would have balanced it so you didn't feel like you were forced to do it. Add that to the atrocious UI changes and the fact that we're getting basically zero dev interaction on PTS issues, and it's all just leaving a really bad taste in my mouth to this game lately.

Honestly, I haven't done more than log in, do writs on my main, finish the Endeavors, and log out in the past week. I'm hoping that ZOS will eventually add something in that'll bring that spark back. But I'm just not feeling it lately.

So as a new player, I played 100% solo for a while and focused on story and questing. As time went on and I got into more of a variety of content, I'd say that dropped to 75% solo and then about a 50-50 split.

But now I'm back to around 90% solo, as most of my friends don't really play anymore, multiple guilds are inactive, and I've gotten gud enough at the game to manage most stuff on my own.

Not reflected in the poll but perhaps also relevant, is that my time spent playing eso has dropped consistently as the proportion of my time spent playing solo has increased.

Well, more precisely about 95% because once in a while I help on my way or join for a boss.

But to clarify the background: ESO is for me a sort of "side" game that I use to chill solo aside of my main. And I fully enjoy the game for this specific purpose.

Most content is soloable. Grouping just makes things slower and more difficult. Of course, unless you are doing trials or some DLC dungeons. If you skip those, there is no reason to group. Last time I grouped was in Vengeance. I would do that again because it didn't slow me down.

It really depends, but lately most of the time. Once a new trial comes out I will probably group up more again, since it is required. I pretty much only group up for random dungeons (which I barely consider grouping) and for a core group one or two times a week. Core is on break until U46, Summer and people have been needing a break.

I suspect most falling between numbers will round to the nearest, so I rounded my 120% down to 100%. But seriously, I do play solo, except for the occasions when I don't. Joint efforts with friends are possible in an MMO, so they happen.

But also remember that a lot of things like crafting are an essential part of the game, and have no group aspect. So should I leave that time out of the calculation?

Things that require large numbers of players to coordinate need organised groups, and scheduled times, and a lot of reality can disrupt that. Maybe I would group more if real life cooperated?

As my current play time is around 2h a week with other three people pretty sure I can clock 2h outside of it at maximum, if even. Even though it would probably be PvP so not sure how solo it is considered.

Generally I have my trusty Daggerfall unity for solo and eso I log for pvp, pve, housing and crafting so it probably amounts to around 50% or more time in multiplayer aspects.

I don’t really find overland quests fun or engaging. The quests are OK but combat and freedom is just not there and it is all rather like a themepark with a souvenir shop appearing as you log in.

The world is just a Disney park waiting for you to interact with. Wet noodle combat with enemies dying as soon as you sneeze at them.

If the world felt more independent from player and combat gameplay would be satisfying and challenging then it would be quite different I suppose

I think about 99% is playing solo.

It used to be less solo play but the people I grouped with to do dungeons etc. have moved on to other games. Even then I think solo play was about 80% because stories don't really lend themselves to group play.

When a Trial or BG, IC, Cyro is needed for Endeavors or Golden Pursuit I jump in, or if someone asks for help and I feel like it. Otherwise I'm soloing my way full-time.

I'm waiting for a typical random guy to comment: "bad poll, all of you use companions so you don't really ever solo" XD
By the way, guess it's Elder Scrolls first and MMO after for a lot of players.

I assumed 'playing solo' meant not in a party or other group, rather than literally alone with no one else in the same area/fighting the same enemies. I'll often work together with other players if we're doing the same thing, but I only start or join a party when it's required, like doing dungeons together.

i avoid group content like the plague in this game. even when there's "group" things to do, 9 times out of 10, i'll grab my husband's laptop, set it up next to my desktop and get on his account to run myself through a dungeon. i don't even use the trader system much which is something i always LOVED about other games. i consider that a non-solo thing since you can't really buy/sell to yourself. there are other ppl involved. but the trader system here is so awful if you are trying to find things. i gave up buying my first week or two into playing. and the last couple years, selling just is not worth it.

personally, i think its sad that an mmo has so many ppl who play it as a solo game. on the other hand, it's nice to be able to do content without having to group up.

Same. Personally of all multiplayer activity I prefer the ones without any actual grouping. Like the incursions or world bosses or Keep defense in Cyrodiil. Grouping is just too constraining for me most of the time. It's like taking on a responsibility toward others, which for me is kind of the opposite of what I want to do when I'm gaming.

My answer is almost 100% of the time but I chose about 75%.

I typically am solo, but I am not against teaming up when needed. I just prefer to not need to.
    AzuraFan wrote: »

    Definitely agree with this.

While this poll is good, the options, to me, are too wide to really be good.

    I didn't want to put 100% because I don't, though I am much closer to 100% than 75%. So, I went with 75%.

Also, it is interesting to see how others intepret solo.

My personal definition is that I am not grouped up with anyone or I am not actively trying to help them. IE, there have been times other people have been in the same dungeon and we have killed a couple of the same mobs, but we then split up to go our separate ways around the dungeon. I don't consider that 'grouping'.

However, there have been other times when I have been at a WB and have helped others take down the boss. I don't consider myself 'solo' at that point, when we are actively helping each other to take down a big boss. For big bosses, my definition of solo is I am 100% alone, or at the very least 95% solo (there have been times I have almost finished a boss, and someone else came in and got the final hit or two)

I also consider PvP to not be solo, as it requires another person to be playing.
