Why do we need a non combat pet to build an event house?

It makes no sense to me that we would need a non combat pet to build an event house. Please stop requiring this and just let us just build the house from the actual house fragments.

I think OP is talking about needing the pet to morph into the 5 Companions house this quarter.

They added a new house to build from the Impresario? Nice.

It's an interesting house in a way, but not at all my sort of thing. I don't care anything about the original "5 companions" or the whole game MQ, 10th anniversary or not.

In any case I'd rather spend tickets on indriks....

Becaaaause, uh, that Minilag Bal pet is the, erm, real estate agent who arranges for ownership of the house to pass to you, intrepid adventurer, once the five keys are handed over.

Well, I tried. I do wish we could remove the middlemanimp and just get the house after collecting the keys.

i mean the same can be said for literally any of the collectibles for a yearly thing

i mean it was the same for the doomchar house, that required the pet + fragments as well

its all just incentive to spend more tickets, you have to craft the non combat pet 5 times in total (4 as pre-reqs for the major rewards, and 1 extra time to just have it permanently after)

its 15 tickets per pet creation, thats effectively 75 tickets worth if you want to get all 4 major things and still keep the pet at the end of the year

It just makes no sense at all to have to have a pet to build a house.

I want the house to make into a fancy crafting house for all my fancy crafting tables I find doing antiquities.

Because the powers that be at ZoS determined that the house will cost a total of 65 event tickets. Personally, I like the option to cash in the pet if I decide that I don't want to keep it.

It's nice to have the option to essentially cash in the pet for 15 event tickets, or grind out 15 more tickets if I want to keep the pet. Either way, ZoS is gonna get their 65 tickets for the house.

It's just how these year-long series of events have worked from the beginning, except that originally it was about creating a plain indrik and morphing it into specific varieties of indriks. When they retired the indriks by popular demand, they moved to a different scheme-- assemble fragments into a pet, then assemble other fragments to morph the pet into other things. I'm not saying it makes much sense to morph a pet into something completely different, but I think it does tend to encourage players to participate in these events throughout the year since all of the events during a given year are linked together by that year's pet and all the things it can be morphed into.

The new Golden Pursuits system seems like it might be better for letting players earn special rewards like houses, because there would be no need to assemble a pet first and then morph it into a house-- just complete X number of pursuits to get the house. They could still use events for letting us collect fragments to assemble a pet, then other fragments to morph the pet into something else, but have it make more sense, like morphing a young pet into an adult mount.

Well I will never understand it because logically it does not make sense.

A lot of things in this game don't make sense out of context.

The context here is that this fragments system for Event Tickets started with the Indriks: you needed all 4 legendary feathers to summon a Nascent Indrik, and then you'd feed it a set of berries to evolve it into 1 of 4 different kinds of Indrik, each set of berries being based on 1 of the 4 feathers.

That general idea was expanded to another set of 4 Indriks before we got anything other than Indriks from Event Ticket fragments.

It's an old system adapted to new things, but that explains why it is what it is. Frankly, I think this system works — we have to spend more time on the events to get everything.

yes, but im just trying to understand why now? why not when the system was first started and we had a orb that morphed into the doomchar house, or any of the other random things we have gotten

thematically speaking it never has made sense, it was very clear that they just wanted us to waste tickets on the morphable pet repeatedly

I agree that it doesn't make sense; I'm definitely not disagreeing about that.

As I said, I think the new Golden Pursuits system seems like it will be a better method for letting players collect a variety of things, and hopefully that will include things like houses.

Up until now the events have been about the only way they've had to let us earn things like a new house-- other than those celebrations where we all work together toward meeting a goal-- and I think they do realize that it's kind of silly to have a pet morph into a house.

That might even be part of why they decided to come up with Golden Pursuits as a way to let us earn things-- so they don't need to squeeze them into the year-long system of buying fragments with event tickets. They can still keep events and the fragment system, but now we won't have to morph a pet into a house if they create a new house that they want us to be able to earn for free.

I agree, but the game has a lot of logic-defying, head-scratching stuff.

Like two players having a duel in a city in front of the guards, yet the guards will chase another player who picked up a cabbage accidentally.

Or some of the quests are set around adult themes, yet players are auto-banned for role playing in guilds or via private messages.

Or the resource nodes that magically reappear a minute or two after being acquired. Or the groups of bandits that reappear shortly after being killed.

    I could go on.

I know there are a lot of things that don't make logical sense. But this one is part of purchasing an event house that is going on right now, so it's at the forefront of my mind.

why not when the system was first started and we had a orb that morphed into the doomchar house, or any of the other random things we have gotten

ACKSHUALLY, that orb is a morpholith, which can be used in Elder Scrolls lore to open Oblivion portals...such as the one that leads to the Doomchar house. So in that case, the morphing pet did make sense.

But uh yeah, I can't quite figure out the logic on this one. Maybe it will make sense when we get the last of the fragments and can see the summon animation.

I agree, it’s time to drop the pet part of the equation going forward. I mean, it would be perfectly fine to start off with a pet in 2025, but let us keep the first one we get and the next quarter do something different.
