Ideal companion character?

Wanted to ask you guys of the forums, if you could design an ideal companion to adventure alongside you, what would they be? Disregard things like rapport and any storylines (unless you want to) , but just a description of what you would want in an ideal companion.

For me, I'd love a character similar to my main. She's a Shadowscsale Argonian vampire who's been around awhile and seen things. She revels in her vampirism, and takes pride in it, rather than letting it be a setback or something to be ashamed of. Less quick to react, and looks to see the whole of a situation before giving judgement, as her age gives her insight and wisdom others may not have.

She understands the value of a life, and sees the world as what you make it. She sees morality as per the individual and concepts of good, evil, right, wrong differ from person to person, and she does not hold bias to any one concept or ideal, as they come and go with the tides.


She has a wealth of knowledge, and wishes to impart some of that wisdom to you, as you have interested her and she sees promise.

While not 'evil', she would be a companion who would accompany the Vestige in any killings, thievery, or other activities, and offer advice on how to improve.

I feel some of these concepts would be enjoyed by many players, especially those who want a companion on the darker side, while not being a character that's 'evil for evil's sake'.


Might also add: she'd be a Nightblade with some vampire skillsets.


So yeah, what kinds of things would you want in a companion, who would they be, and what woukd they bring to your adventures?

I hope ZOS eventually gives us Werewolf and Vampire Companions! It's bound to happen eventually — though I hope we get the Werewolf/Vampire skill lines separate from their Class skill lines.

Tanlorin got away with replacing Ardent Warrior (the Companion Dragonknight damage dealer skill line) with Empathic Fighter (the Companion Soul Magic skill line) but this likely wouldn't work with the Companion Werewolf skill line due to the transformation requirement. You could make the argument that this would work just fine with the Companion Vampire skill line — but would you really want to give up the damage dealer skill line of your Companion's Class just to have Companion Vampire skills, instead of having Companion Vampire skills in addition to the regular Class skills?



I personally really want a Werewolf Companion. I would like if they could transform and use Companion Werewolf abilities. It'd be great if they counted toward the player's Call of the Pack passive while transformed to allow the player to stay transformed for longer.

I'd build such a Companion as a damage dealer, which is really the ideal setup for a Werewolf build, and I'd bring them along with me whenever I'm questing or doing a run in the Infinite Archive.

I don't mind what gender, race, or class they are, as long as they have the Companion Werewolf skill line somewhere in their toolkit. You could probably imagine that Orc, Nord, or Bosmer would make great candidates for a Werewolf character (due to the shared emphasis on martial ability) and you might say that Warden would be a thematic class for a Werewolf character. I expect we'll be surprised when we get our first Werewolf Companion.

A Wyress she-wolf who, like the Wyress you briefly travel with during a quest, can talk, cast spells and bite.

Alfiq Werewolf Templar. Smallest hit-box to largest hit-box and back again. Give them special shield-turban so they can be tanky just with their hat.

Zenimax spent a fortune filling the game with great voice acting and the only way to shut up these ridiculous companions is to completely mute all dialog.

I woudn't mind it if he was lightly muscular but not too over muscular not sure about how others feel about the topic I'm sure that we would agree on something that we all like through discussion

I was hoping for that at one point. One reason I made so many wardens.

Story is one of the game's big strengths though, so I can understand them going a different way.

Sorry, but I think I lost my sanity somewhere in the 90s along with my thyroid.... I think that was probably the last time I slept normally.

For build, I wouldn't mind a lightly muscular, but I tend to prefer a more willowy type.

A high elf like Taarie from Skyrim. Rude as heck, but with a sliver of a heart of gold. It's kinda what I was hoping for from Tanlorian.

I think they got the comically rude high elf well with the Alinor banker lady, Tilanfire.

"Well look what the sea washed ashore! Another one of our interesting visitors! Your gold and valuables will be treated with the same care as any High Elf's, you have my word. You do use gold as a currency where you come from, don't you?"

Wtf. I never knew that, she was always damn near comically polite to me.

But it would be funny to have a companion who doesn't kiss your hindquarters all the time. Either someone who accompanies you begrugingly (like a bound dremora), or one who banters with you constantly, even coming close to crossing the line at times. I suppose that would put a lot of people off though, and not sell well.

A jolly nord warrior like Rigurt the Brash. Clumsy and drinking mid fight, telling jokes, laugh and share of himself.

Should have RNG skills so it would always be a surprise at what he end up doing, with some limitations of course.
