The fact that Tanlorin loses rapport for reading a mages guild lorebook, but gains it from obtaining a mages guild script, is so contradictory that it makes absolutely no sense. Just...why.

    They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat

    Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause

I find it really annoying when companions start scolding you for normal gameplay things such as picking mushrooms or crafting something that contains cheese.
I don't even care about -1 rapport, it is just annoying to hear them complain all the time. No, Bastian, I am not forcing you to eat that Firsthold fruit and cheese plate, I am crafting it for my daily quest! Lol.
Using soul gems is also not really a choice in this game, any build needs them, no matter how lawful good they are. Nobody will give up their ability to resurrect or use weapon enchants because an npc doesn't like it.

Agreed. It's stupidly annoying and doesn't make sense at all, plus just makes all the companions feel like whiny little bossy people, trying to control the actions of another adult who isn't even affecting them.

I love Bastian and thankfully don't have to make cheese items almost never so I can generally safely use him since that'd be the only thing he'd complain about.
But I love changing my outfit, I need alchemy mats (so bugs, nirnroot, and mushrooms), I love fishing, my gear MAY BREAK because I am not micromanaging that *** just to make a NPC happy. I am repairing it when it needs repaired, it's my ***, let me let it break. I could go on because there's that many dumb rapport disapprovals but in the end it is just so grating when it affects core game mechanics like soul gems and outfit stations.

Yeah, I need to investigate more to figure out what the actual rapport gain condition is. I thought it might be acquiring any script, but I didn't gain rapport by purchasing scripts from Filer Ool in the archive. Then I thought it might be acquiring any purple/gold item, but I didn't gain rapport by opening one of the companion armor coffers I purchased from Ool either. But then again, I may have been on cooldown, and that could have explained the lack of rapport gain.

I'm very curious if there's a more general rapport condition behind the Mage's Guild script thing because I agree, as I currently understand it, it doesn't make much sense. The one interpretation I have stems from a line they said when we entered a Mages Guild, something along the lines of "let's just loot this place and get out". So maybe they see it as taking stuff from the guild and like it for that reason, like Azandar with Psijic portals?

That Necromancer companion seems to not only be against being a Vampire but he is against the source of power that fuels our ability to resurrect, how does he even react to a player Necromancer?

Well then, I guess he will have no complaints that he does not get revived when he gets killed by a random trash mob.

The soul gem passive won't proc if you don't have empty soul gems in your inventory. That said, remembering to always vendor or bank them could be a pain, especially for people who don't have the assistants.

Upon further investigation, neither the purple/gold quality item nor the mages guild script rapport were quite correct. Obtaining a scribing script (at least from reward coffer or mages guild, didn't seem to proc from buying) gives +5 rapport, or +1 on cooldown. Other purple quality items didn't give the same rapport gain.

Well if I didn’t have enough reason to never, ever purchase Tanlorin I do now. It’s tedious enough leveling the Guild skill lines without her whining at me for setting foot in the building. And having to sit through Azandar griping about mushrooms the first time was bad enough, I don’t need a 2.0 version.

    • Drinking a Purifying Bloody Mara gave +10.
Based on his dialogue he said after the fact, "Yes, shed the layers of your affliction, tamiit. They give you power, but at what cost?", I'm fairly certain it's lowering of the vampirism stage that gives him the increase.

(On that note, the character I'm playing is magicka based and I use the drink to keep my magicka boosted. They're not a vampire, but they still got the boost w/ that response, hence my assumption of the lowering stages thing since that's specifically stated in the drink's description. Any vampires wanna test his response to lowering stages?)

I just want a companion that says 'shall we go to the pub?' And then is lots of fun when we get there.

What's hard about that. I don't need opinions on everything. Why do they have opinions on everything.

Not that we can sit and drink together or anything because they don't SIT. Or drink.

The negative rapport on both just ensures that I will never use them beyond just unlocking.

I like the unique story on both and I like the way the Khajiit uses Necromancy, that's very different but yeah... pass. A Necromancer who hates Necromancers and the other companion hates Mages Guild... which you have to enter to raise their MG skill line... bad decisions for negative rapport.

How does Zerith respond to the Scribing skills in Soul Magic if you choose the spells that add Oblivion damage and consume a soul gem?

So which other dailies does Zerith like? I tried a Northern Elsweyr delve quest and he wasn't fussed. I'm guessing that he likes dragon hunts, but that's rather difficult on PTS. He also expresses an interest in the Infinite Archive, but I haven't tried taking him there, let alone questing there. Imagine if it were the marauder daily!
