Marauder Hilkarax fight has too much AoE

it's about a specific boss fight so i think it's the correct category.

anyway this Marauder is a bit too challenging.
- it spawning at the start of a stage
- And with all of the lightning areas of effect that go around the area. they take up nearly everything

there were more AoEs after the screenshot.

some stage areas are way smaller than others so i got kinda unlucky in that too.
(it's the stage area with the urns, steles, and giant bookstack column).

The trick to this boss is to keep him stationary and to stay close to him. Hug him.

When he spawns his storms, the middle is actually the safest. There is just one storm AoE there, and it moves very slowly, so you can quite easily rotate around and avoid it. The most dangerous storm AoEs are the ones that are farther from him. So the safe area is in the eye of the storm, so the speak, so keep him there and stay there yourself. Whereas Gothy is a marauder where you will often find yourself kiting around, Hilky is one where you want to keep in one place.

Gothmau is far stronger in my humble opinion. Couple of his light attacks can kill you. Other marauders can’t do that.

that is true and i also hope for Goth maus to be made less absurd.

As has been said, the key with the wind and water marauders is to stay close, like in the eye of a storm.

I'll try that next time, but pretty hard to do as i also have to fight the regular stage monsters

the way i usually deal with this is try to leave 1 of the weakest enemy alive to prevent spawning of the next wave (since marauders always spawn with the first wave)

usually a ranged enemy if you can such as a archer or mage is ideal to leave alive

having a companion tank also significantly helps in the marauder fights
