If this mythic is going to be used at all it needs to give crit, penetration, max resources and recovery. You lose a lot from having all item set 2-5+ effects disabled.

If this didn't disable a set's unique 5th item effect, it could be a way to make more useful those sets which are interesting but sub-par due to their unimpressive 2-4 item bonuses. More sets become more viable for more players, while retaining their flavor.

As it is, perhaps it could foreshadow a forthcoming unarmed & unarmored playstyle? Doubt they'd bury the lede on that, though.

Players who have decent build with nice set combos: This Mythic is trash !

Players with random pieces of green - blue quest reward sets: This Mythic is amazing !

    :joy::D

Now, jokes aside I am struggling to think of what is the idea & reason behind adding this Mythic. Players with decent builds won't use this. New players who don't have decent gear sets yet would use it, but most likely it is way easier to get overland /crafted sets than getting a Mythic item. It is kind like Salvation set which is supposed to aid leveling WW skill line faster, but in the end no one uses it cuz there are far better options.

You said something interesting here: Has anyone tried it on a WW, which actually has less equipment available to it?

20% modifier isn't much. It's for new players and duel tournaments.

New players generally won't have access to mythics.

Maybe "new players" isn't the right term. Players down at the bottom end of the CP range.

A player can definitely get the mythic before they can use it, and my guess is that a lot of them aren't running a lot of set gear a the time, either. Putting on this ring might not really disable much, and may actually make things better.

In the end, part of me wonders if they did this, in part, to see what the players would come up with for making use of it.

I can kinda understand why they made this mythic. If you log random dungeons you'll see that lots of players, even cp500+, wear random mismatched gear. Theoretically, this mythic could help these players.
The problem is, the players who could've benefitted from it won't be using it. Farming mythics requires a lot of time and some online research, and any person who knows how to get them also knows that there are better options.
The only way I could see this mythic reaching its target audience is by making it a quest/leveling reward, similar to Prophet's gear.

This mythic is so baffling to me. I don't know who came up with this idea but I'd like to have whatever they were smoking when they came up with it.

On the surface it looks like a mythic that is meant to help beginner players who do not yet understand about how sets and set bonuses match up with each other or solo overland questers who just put on any combination of gear that drop for them, but that doesn't make any sense because those players aren't going to go and grind up their Scrying to then go and farm this specifically.

I guess it can be used for self-made dueling tournaments as others said, but it doesn't have appear to have a visual so there's no indication that someone is wearing it. I also feel like that's an extremely niche reason to design an entire mythic around.

As the previous poster said I do think this would have made more sense as a level up reward or something obtained from a quest similar to how the companions are.

Now, we have the "no sets" Mythic

My guess for the next Mythic will be "no passives"
(1 item) Disable all Passives. Increase Weapon and Spell Damage by 20%. Increase Max Health, Stamina, and Magicka by 4000. Increase Critical Damage and Healing by 30%.

I was going to Disable all Skills, but that might be too far.

I don't think passives or all skills, but I would unironically love a mythic that gave a small number buffs like oakensoul (probably just sorcery/brutality and resolve) but left bar swapping and disabled the ability to activate class skills instead. Call it guildmaster's signet or something. Maybe give it a little proc where direct damage skills have a 15-20% chance to make your next sticky dot deal 75% damage up front so you can still have a burst ability while using it.

Honestly you could do so much with mythics.. It feels like game devs running out of ideas?

Class sets could bring more power to classes and give them more identity on that part. Mythics could be used for various other stuff, e.g. a mythic that boosts all types of weapon skill lines 'weapon's master type of mythic'...

In short the mythic should give something unique, if it were to disable all set bonuses I think it's fair to say it needs raw type on top of the "unique part"... Like it definitely needs stats to make up for all the set bonuses' stats lost. If it only disabled the last bonus of each set then it doesn't need to be that beefy itself but it needs a unique aspect to it. Keep the power in place but make it double like all DoT timers or something like that - like something niche like oakensoul was for HA builds.. enable more options but don't overtune it.. like you don't want everybody running the mythic but you want it to boost a certain type of gameplay to make it also somewhat viable.. give it like a secondary effect to the mundus stone you're running or maybe twice-star born effect, a second mundus stone.. resources when killing enemies and movement speed or so (to get speedruns of dungeons going harder), a 5th slottable in every CP tree, I mean heck, there's so much to be explored.. It doesn't need to be META but it should imo give a reason to actually dig it up and maybe throw it in something, give it some time to let people explore it and maybe find some builds for it.. I'm not a game developer but this seems really lazy, like disable all set bonuses and slap a random % boost on it and call it a day..

They should make a PVP piece, and have it disable an enemy player's set bonuses for 15-30 seconds,on a proc, with a cooldown of like 2-3 minutes til it can proc again.Would be helpful against those unkillable tanky DPS in Cyro, lol, and make PVP a little more fun possibly, since alot of players would be using it.

I like it as an idea for tournaments and also naked runs. Sure it's a niche item, but we have so much gear already, why not have something unique like that as well. Not to mention that if it's not a must-have item that people won't have to contend with lead RNG, so it's a nice change of pace.

This can't possibly equalize dueling because it doesn't equalize CP (which functionally caps out around 1400). That would make it a helpful approximation of Battlegrounds builds, which are a lot more accessible in that way.

I don't think this will really be a viable way of equalizing battlegrounds builds at all because you forget battlegrounds is Free To Play, which means everyone can play in BGs, even if we tried to balance things around this mythic not everyone owns the Greymoor chapter, which means they can't use mythics and antiquities to begin with. Not to mention, you would also need Gold Road in addition to Greymoor, which I imagine a lot of people won't have both in BG's since it's accessible to everyone.

So people who don't own Greymoor and Gold Road would still naturally be behind the people who could use this mythic if you tried to do any "balancing" around this.

The mythic is just really not that good or well thought out.

Ah okay, I just saw that now. I was mistaken, I was assuming it was apart of the DLC since it was announced around the same time. So you would just need greymoor for it

I'm sure they'll hide leads,or dig up spots in the new zone or the zone dlc for it.It's what they did for Oakensoul and others, find leads elsewhere, and dig up in new chapter.

Since this mythic is on the PTS right now, I was under the impression that it would be coming out in March with the 2 dungeon DLC pack and have nothing to do (lead wise) with the Chapter in June. The chapter will have it's own Mythics.

Then I guess you'll still need access to the DLC,and to Greymoor to get the skill, whether you buy dlc or get it with eso+.

Kind of half joking, half not, but i think this Mythic would be useful if it were able to be equipped on a companion. They would definitely benefit from this more than a player would. Companion Mythics, imagine the possibilities.

This mythic would've been far more interesting if it doubled all non 5-piece bonuses at the cost of disabling 5-piece bonuses.

Far more interesting interactions with 3-pieces sets, 1-piece monster, stat dense 4-piece combos and stuff like 10-piece shattered fate.

Probably going to be used for sweaty dueling tournaments and nothing more. Cool idea though.

Problem with this is that there is no visual indicator that someone is using the mythic.

There is no unique animation attached to players that have it equipped, and nothing unique shows up on the status effect bar, if there was a unique buff/debuff for players to see, then this mythic would be perfect for all forms of player-made competition, even Dungeon/Arena/Trial racing in guilds.

There’s so much untapped potential, it’s so easy to get there too.

so everything is disabled from the other sets? Potions, Poisons, glyphs, traits, armor, passives?
So I am naked and have this:

Name: Torc of the Last Ayleid King
    Type:
    Available Armor Weight:
    Location:
    Requires DLC:
Armor Set bonuses (Level 50 – CP 160):
(1 item) Adds 1337 Weapon and Spell Damage
(1 item) Adds 500 Magicka Recovery
(1 item) Adds 500 Stamina Recovery
(1 item) Reduce Damage taken by 15%. Disable all other item set bonuses.

Without any armor or protection, I don't think that 15% damage reduction. I am worried about the other 85%
