Not happy with the new daedric prince

I just hope it's handled with discipline. Too often the daedric princes have been used as deus ex machinas that can do whatever the plot requires, which cheapens the storytelling.

They can be great. Or they can be one of the biggest weakness of Elder Scrolls lore, in my opinion, depending on whether the writing makes sure to treat them as complex characters. Great = Meridia for being multifaceted. Weak = Molag Bal for being one-note pantomime villain.

Don't forget how nearly every zone has a cult which is [snip] as it's used as a Deus Ex Machina constantly.

Honestly, I'd much rather less focus on the daedric princes etc than more. I used Meridia as an example as she is more or less the *only* Prince I can think of other than Sheogorath who acts consistently with her character (haven't played Necrom yet) and has any depth. And unlike Sheogorath, she's not so over-used that she's become insufferable.

Molag Bal is just plain boring. He's really really evil, always wants to destroy the world, and never, ever wins. Zzz.

Well remember when they said High Isle wouldn't be about supernatural ending of the world and it'd be more about political intrigue and then it turned out yep nope it's just about more cults and the possible end of the world through supernatural means.

I hope we get to banish her eventually and never have to deal with her again, the established daedric princes are already enough. She is/was interesting in concept, but I'm not interested in yet another daedric prince.

And the last thing I want is to see her added to the older TES games retroactively or appear in TES 6.

I think this is the most likely course of action given how OP her power set would be.

I do hope she ends up interesting, it depends on how they did the prince. Many may come to like her. We will have to see really. I hope its not a one chapter character that gets yeeted back into non existence.

In general, I have nothing against them adding a new Daedric Prince - it was never defined in lore that there couldn't be more than people knew of so far. Also, the story will most probably be about banning Ithelia again, so after the chapter things will return to normal anyway. The only thing that makes me sceptical is whether Ithelia will actually be interesting. What I've seen so far was rather bland.

Actually, they said it was a "continuation" of the story. Given where the Necrom story left off, I would not have assumed that it was self contained.

They did say it was the beginning of a story arc in the Necrom reveal stream one years ago, so this is what many people expected. Who didn''t finish Necrom before the Gold Road reveal could of course not know that Necrom's story is a cliffhanger and the next chapter will start where Necroms ends.

Her face and hair are probably obscured by her hood and look darker because of that. In the lower part of the picture the hair looks a bit blond (although I'm not sure if it's only due to that yellow lighting). The blue eyes stand out, too. And then there's the statue is supposed to be her - there she just looks like a blonde, blue-eyed, white, a bit tan, young woman. I don't think if she was supposed to look Yokudan, the statue would look like this. Or it turned out even worse than I already thought!

Well, I'm fine with her. And as far as 'banishing' her, I'm thinking more along the lines is that... since she starts out having amnesia, that when she regains her memories, we'll probably end up getting her to agree to give up her memories again- so she, and the world, forget her again. That way she can continue to exist in the world, just as a plain human. I like the happy endings versus, "we're going to stick you back in limbo forever" type of ending. I'm sure the story will make us sympathize with her, so at the end, a solution of banishing her again would seem unfair.

Not a fan of ESO just introducing a whole new Daedric Prince out of the blue. That should either be left to the main series, or just not done at all.

Like others have said, I really hope that at the end of the storyline we banish/destroy her in some way so that the lore remains consistent in later titles.

That seems to come up with every Elder Scrolls game, though. There is a lot of lore, not all of it is defined more than what is needed, and a lot of it is fluid, and it is not unchanging, even in the single player games.

I think ZOS has done well with the lore honestly. They’ve added in some things to even Snow Elves like books, one book that is not an in game book but one you got for pre-ordering the game, the trees that they grew themselves, the ruins under Fort Greenwall which hints why we don’t see much Snow elven ruins (I am holding out hope we see them in Winterhold or Dawnstar chapters though)

They also gave Left Handed Elves an actual name, something Bethesda didn’t do. I do wish we ran into other races though like Lilmothiit and Imga. Surely some of these races traveled Tamriel and didn’t get caught up in the plague or Falinesti.

Well, before this game Lefthanded Elves were just that, that’s all we had for a name… kind of dumb tbh. It was during the quests of DC when they started getting into Yokuda tales and all that where it was revealed the elves name was Sinistral Elves.

I am not sure what else was in their lore before this game but I know that’s all they were called and their lore pages were very small, like a sentence basically and now they aren’t.

Plus, I forgot that ZOS also added how Redguard could become Sword Singers in that quest with Sai Sahan in Elsweyr. Loved that.

Am I mistaken though? I love Redguard lore so I always read up on it and Lefthanded Elves lore pages were always nothing and then those quests and they were filled out more.

ESO is the only TES game where Bosmer are not stealthy, and Argonians are not immune to poison. And the ESO lore contradicts itself in many ways. There is still dialogue in the game about Argonians being immune and wood elves being stealthy, even after the changes. Not to mention there being dragons in the second era, which has never been canon until it became a convenient way to sell DLC. And even the new lore contradicts itself, when choices the player makes in the main story are rendered illegitimate, when sacrifices made to save the world are moot because the martyrs just pop back up without explanation as if nothing ever happened.

Oh, that. Well, "sinistra" is Latin for "left-handed". I think it has always been used interchangeably? At least I think I read an article on the UESP about different kinds of mer a very, very long time ago and there they were already mentioned with both names. But I might remember wrong.
