The price of upgrading jewelry HAS to drop. You will essentially have 5X the supply now.

Supply will increase much more than that. It's going to increase 1,000%. Prices are going to crash hard to below temper prices.

They will drop at first, when everyone that is hoarding these now puts them on the market. But we don't know what the drop rate will be for the new platings, and if it's low prices will go back up.

If nothing changes from the PTS, it's exactly like every other gold mat which is approximately 1-2 per stack of 200. I don't see why this wouldn't go live especially since ZOS has explicitly stated the change is to bring jewelry crafting into line with the other crafts.

I never said this wouldn't go live. I was referring to the statement that prices will drop due do increased supply, which I am certain will turn around and go back up as the initial influx of hoarded plates dwindles.

What about furnishings? The recipes used a number of platings that were an effort to acquire. Are they becoming easier to make?

You will still need platings for those, but since platings will be a lot cheaper they will be less costly to craft.

From one of the pts patch notes:
    Jewelry Crafting
Adjusted the number of Jewelry Crafting Platings required for a variety of recipes to bring them more in line with upgrade material costs from other crafting disciplines.

Khajiit does not understand any of the doom and gloom. He has 120 Chromium Platings, and 180 Zircron Platings, and cannot wait for these numbers to explode by 10. In fact, this one is excited for all facets of this change.

This one also has 20 7 prof master crafters, and has until very recently done all 20's dailies every day. Unfortunately, the ridiculous costs of platinum ounces on vendors has made that more difficult - this one refuses to do any of his 9500+ surveys just for dailies - but now that chromium and other platings are going to be reasonably priced due to greater availability, the cost of platinum should come down as well.

To all the folks who feel this is going to ruin your "business", ask yourself, are you part of the original problem? Are you one of the people charging 200+ gold per platinum ounce? If so, shame on you!

Your assumption that prices on unrefined jewelry mats will drop in price isn't exactly a guarantee. They could remain the same or go up.have to remember that markets don't follow logic all of the time.

I have 30K grains in my craft bank. Does that mean I will soon be able to buy the entire realm of Tamriel?

No, because everybody else with similar stashes has just as much. No "new" materials were created, they were just converted, making it cheaper to upgrade jewelry and do master writs (although the new ones were adjusted so that they are only moderately better than they were before)

Expected Chromium to fall further considering even myself managed to gather 260 units stash within 3 weeks of returning to the game after 2.5 years.
While Zircon gathering has become even more ridiculous than Grain Solvent. :D

Terne Plating on the other hand is more rare than Chromium because of the CP passive giving higher quality loot. Have to use a character without that skill to gather green jewellery. :o
