I'm doing the daily writ quest and no Jewelry surveys are dropping. How long did it take you to get the lead? This is more difficult to farm than jboots in Everquest.
I have zero interest in making alts. 1 character is all I ever want.
Is there another way to get the lead?

✭✭✭✭✭Out of my three accounts, I got the lead on one day before yesterday - I only use one character on that account for crafting, and while I did dig up the chain, I don't really want that particular mythic for anything.______________________________________________________

I think it will be very OP for Mag Sorc PvP with shield stacking but I need to test it.
40% damage reduction is extremely stat dense for a single item.

aaisoaho✭✭✭✭✭It took me 11 surveys, I had 7 in my inventory before the patch dropped. I did writs with 9 characters after I burned the 7 survey maps without getting a lead. I got 1 survey a day, so took me 4 days.0 -

But sea serpents coil is very niche, the 40% slow makes me only want it in a stationary fight, where mobility doesn’t matter too much.1 -

✭I think there are two questions here, how many surveys did it take, and how many writs did it take to get those surveys.
It took me 3 surveys. I have dozens of surveys saved up, so I just had to go and get them, I got it before I even knew there was a lead there.
If you're doing writs to get the surveys because you don't have a backlog, I believe the drop rate of surveys is 1/8. The actual gameplay grind of it is nowhere near any of the other grinds, tho. A minute for the writ, and 2 min to gather the survey including travel time. If you end up having to do 40 writs and 6 surveys that's an hour of game time.
That's not too bad in general, but yeah if you're only doing them on one character it could take over a month. I understand not wanting to do alts, but you have a choice to make. Leveling an alt to 6 so they can do jewelry writs takes maybe 20-30 min. Is 20-30 min now worth getting the lead in half the time? Or taking 60-90 minutes to make 3 so you can get it in a quarter of the real time?
It is frustrating to have to make that choice if you don't want to make alts, but it's not actually difficult or time consuming compared to other leads, it just has requirements you don't want to meet. Something similar was the case with the lead that dropped from the DB thieves den person. I think the drop rate there was a bit better, maybe, but getting a char to that DB level takes longer. That one I didn't feel like unlocking on my alts, so I just did it once a day on one character and got it eventually.

✭✭I've been neglecting my writs after my break but still done enough to surveys pile up. I have 9 chars and all can do every gear craft at max level, most have not done complete trait research but are close. (After break I have done writs only with one or two on most days I've bothered with it at all.) I think I had done 3 jewelry surveys before I found I had that lead.
JC is relatively fast to max up. Dolmens give plenty of decon junk. I understand Triune trait research gives biggest boost to writ rewards (but may be wrong) and there is no styles to grind.Edited by rpa on 17 June 2022 16:440 -

I've been a bit hesitant on it once I heard the snare stacks differently than other snares. But I have been saving jewelry surveys since I learned the lead location in prep for Xbox launch.0 -

As it happens, though, this didn't play too much into getting this lead. I got it by accident making space on my main with the first survey I had. Was very lucky. Didn't even know about this mythic at the time.

It's not very strong with mag sorc. See, it works with you getting hit once even with shields. It doesn't matter if it touches your health because yeah as you said it would've been broken op if it worked that way. So no. It only gives you 40% reduction for one attack specifically then it procs. Regardless if it touches your health or not. Just one attack. Now if you don't lose any health while shield stacking, then you can reproc it immediately after 10 seconds..for one ability/attack though. Heck, even a light attack procs while fully stacked with shields. Better on templar or mag dk imo. They can get back to full hp no matter what.Edited by Micah_Bayer on 18 June 2022 15:511 -
Jack-0✭✭✭✭✭I got it by accident yesterday, didn't even know this was now a source of a lead, I was just doing some surveys to make room in the bank. I got it on the first JC survey I did yesterday.
I do my daily craft quests each day on around 7 of my characters, I have way too many surveys. If only they were tradeable!

The_Titan_Tim✭✭✭✭✭@LoMich, this might sound crazy, but I think the drop rate is significantly lower on EU, it’s as if there is a bug giving players a much lower chance on that server. I was in the exact same boat until I got the lead yesterday, where on NA I got in day one, from a combined total of 3 Surveys.
