Anyone getting a very slow/delayed 'PLAY' button to appear on LAUNCHER lately?

It's not the internet connections. I run speedtest during the "wait for the play button" and my internet is just as solid as it always is. They've borked something, as usual.

    Yes.
    Ping 15ms - 250/250mbps - https://
Problem is not with my internet.
    Good intel, yep.

And, ironically, since making this thread the Launcher PLAY has actually seemed to be better/faster for me. /shrug

Happens to me too. I’ve been bypassing the slow as molasses launcher, and running the client directly.

It's not bothersome for me, but I do notice that it has been delayed compared to rest of laucher by a few seconds (about 4)

I was also part of the group with fake repair launcher error little ago before some fix.

    P.S

    It wasn't always this way

I have not measured the time, but I've been getting this as well. Sometimes I leave it, other times I close and restart. Along with the previous error message issue, I just take it as they screwed up something with the launcher and maybe they will eventually resolve it.

Maybe they accidentally put the launcher assets in cold storage?

Yep, lots of long-term persisting issues with this game now. Long/infinite load screens, login queues, disconnects and overall performance issues. A work around for the play button thing is to go into the installation folder, then The Elder Scrolls Online->game->client and then run eso64.exe to bypass loading the game client

i think it related to in-game ping. So if your Play button apear slowly, then you will probably encounter a high ping in game.

Ping is no different than it ever was... Been in the same location for roughly 4 years with essentially the same ping (92ms as I write this) and all of this started in the past few weeks with the constant stream of errors and issues with the game.

Yes, it started this morning around 5am PDT. The slowness has affected my character load screens and game play. :(

Indeed , same in-game ping as i've always had since 2013 beta

BTW, this is now getting funny & weird: So now, today, the first time i load up the Launcher it's going FAST ( 'PLAY' button immediately, like it used to be) ...but....if i close-down that Launcher and then re-launch it again, the 2nd time becomes the "slow 30-60 seconds" version lol /shrug

Yes, the play button is delayed and I also get queued or lost lobby connection or already logged in when I try to play.

The "Play" button can be delayed when your connection is not fast enough. I noticed that the launcher downloads web resources on each start, and these resources are surprisingly big (multiple Megabytes). Even when normally your connection is fast, it could be a peering problem with your Internet provider as well.
.... That ^ seems worth investigating too yep. So i went ahead an bumped @Fabi95 's reply as a potential "yes" .

It "may" be a connection issue for some, but I bet not most. It just started happening and unless the whole worlds Internet connection coincidentally went down the drain at the same time ZOS made a change, pretty sure it isn't us. Not to mention my gig Internet connection is rock solid and I literally have issues with nothing, except ESO.

That's like when U33 dropped and Win 7 systems suddenly couldn't open Chrome and other browsers after playing ESO. They said stuff like "check your internet connection, update Windows," etc. Like all of a sudden our computers all locked up at the same time? Really?
Yeah i must admit, it does seem a bit sketchy sometimes. ;) ...Ahh the wondrous mysteries of The Matrix ...

Yeah sometimes hangs on me also and have to force shut down the launcher, have a 1 gig fiber line and such so its not on my end.

It started after the last launcher update, have found starting it in admin mode helps some but not always.

It is the way their launcher is designed. As far as I can tell the Play button won't come up until all the Crown advertisements, patch notes, etc.. have loaded, and whatever is serving up those items is hosed, and apparently experiencing the same lag as the rest of the game.

and mine still averages 350-400, so based on that logic, I'd be waiting all day for the Play button to appear.

If you hover your mouse cursor over the spot where "PLAY" is it will pop up immediately, seems to be a graphics glitch.

You can bring up your Task Manager, click Details, find your game, right click it, and set priority to High. You can also go to your advanced Windows Update settings, and limit how many Mbps of bandwidth Windows uses in the background. You can go lower than 1Mbps.... I set mine to 0.5 Mbps. Better to throttle the updates than completely shut them off.

I used to have this issue a long time ago, around the time of Morrowind and Summerset, but not now
I don't remember how I fixed it because I since then upgraded my PC a bunch of times and I had to reinstall the game on another SSD
