Cannot launch the game with the new patch

I had the same issue, went to forums, found this post and well, it was useful => I was crashing 5 seconds into the game, after completely removing daybreak (related files + directory) game is working once again.

I was stuck in perpetual queue and my Nvidia driver was not that old but updating it to the latest seemed to fix any issues for whatever reason.

FYI @ZOS_GinaBruno This same issue appears to happen with all shaders, not just Daybreak.

My wife was using Reshade but luckily I warned her after seeing this thread this morning so she was able to get in after manually removing a few .dll files that the Reshade uninstaller had failed to remove properly.

if i'm not using daybreak or any reshades, but using alot of addons, how do i resolve the ctd after startup??


nvm: what fixed for me is setting rivatuner to low detection level, as mine is on high..

So I do not use Daybreak (never even heard of it, but I don't use a lot of addons out of habit), reshades, or anything of that sort. But I tried doing as someone else suggested, reducing the app detection in Riva Tuner to low, that let me get further than before. Before it would crash as soon as the bethesda logo would appear, after that one change, it crashed at the zenimax logo (maybe it's a sign). So then I disabled the overlay in discord. That fixed it and allowed me to load in. So there does seem to be a conflict with overlays, and maybe (not sure how they work) the reshades and daybreak are doing something that sorta acts like an overlay and that's why they're affected too.

I hope this gives something for the devs to narrow down to hopefully fix this cause I can not live without my discord overlay. lol

yes, i think it it might be RivaTuner. I turned it off and did not get the error.

I'm on the same iMac macOS 10.15.7 Catalina that I've played on for years. Similar login issues as the PC users above and I don't use any of the PC programs like RIVA but having same issues. Now my Launcher is perpetually stuck in REPAIR mode.

oh god thats not good...im still waiting for my Bethesda launcher and all to install and im gonna try it again using that. As for Steam on Windows 10, that seemed to have atleast got me to a log in screen so thats better than before...

I had to completely shut down RIVA TUNER, MSI AFTERBURNER and disable STEAM OVERLAY. I am able to log in and just getting the normal addon error messages until they get updated. Everything else seems to be running ok.

Nvidia Drivers - 511.79
Windows 10 Pro Lite

I was already fully updated on both so did not need to update, not sure if this is a contributing factor or not. If shutting off your overlays does not work try then to update your video drivers. If you have ever used or are using a re-shade then this too will most likely need to be removed manually.

Never mind, I just went to play and now im getting another Error Message at the SAME SPOT...THIS IS CRAZY!!! it was working fine just like i showed...now all a sudden its crashing at the same spot again with a different error message. Same type though.

like i said in my original post, I uninstalled the game, then i searched my computer for everything with The Elder Scrolls Online, deleted it ALL. Then I CLOSED OUT RIVA TUNER this time. Reinstalled ESO and now it works!
I figured i post that here too just incase no one reads my post

Changing the application detection level to low in RivaTuner fixed the issue for me

I am now able to run MSI AFTERBURNER and RIVA TUNER on low and Enabling Steam overlay is working now as well. I changed nothing on my end so perhaps they have fixed something on theirs

I have tried this and when I use any of the Daybreak files I get a weird beeping noise if I try to open Reshade and the game crashes promptly thereafter. Other than that The game does not look any different except I'm now stuck with the Reshade opening message stuck at the top of my screen cause trying to open it crashes the game. There has to be something more to this I feel.

Decided to forget the whole thing, after finding a bunch of pics out there with the fog turned off and running this mod I really don't think it's worth the headache anymore. Installing Reshade 5.0.2 with all the packs and messing around with those on my own have worked out far better Good luck to anyone trying to use this mod and I'll be right here waiting with Tylenol in hand for when you need it

I just did normal reshade install but skipped presets and effects so it created only dxgi.dll and ReShade.ini files. Then on top of that I copied Daybreak (with its d3d11.dll). Here is my file list (I'm on steam so I can have few extra files):

Did you use Vortex to install the Daybreak folders or did you download the manual files and copy them that way from the zip folder?

Hi. I'm Tevalaur's wife. :-)

Today (3/17) I started getting random crashes that brought up the error reporting window, but with no error message like some people were getting. They started out only in interfaces such as a bank or a crafting station. They got progressively more common until now, when I cannot get past entering my password. Twice I have gotten to a one-second login queue dialog that never connected.

I have checked my video drivers were current. I have removed all addons. I have deleted my shaders.cooked. I have even deleted the "client" folder and repaired the game with the launcher. Nothing is helping.

I think I posted a support ticket but was not given a reference number.

After a lot of people recommending to lower the Application Detection Level on RivaTuner Statistics Server, I changed it from High to Medium for ESO and was able to log in normally. Working so far, will update if that changes.
