Maybe I should specify that at the beginning but was intrested mostly in ppl opinion of chapter content, not base game update (like CP rework). You don't need to pay for chapter to get new cps or better servers. Chapter content is more about the stuff that requires you to buy it (like antiquities for greymoor, jewelery crafting for summerset (at least to fully experience it with writs etc), necro class when elsweyr was out, etc). Looks like most ppl are hyped for changes to the base game, not content of new chapter (or rather say lack of it).

This is the first chapter of ESO which doesn't make me that much excited.

I expected a new class to come or new race or something similar, but instead there will be companions. I like the idea of having companions, but as a big feature this doesn't sell to me.

Also the fact that there is again no physical CE is a bit sad as well, which is also a reason for me to maybe buy it in a sale. My raidgroups will not go in the new trial immediately probably, so it's not necessary to have it on Day 1.

Seriously where I can buy that merch stuff they talked about more then the actual game during the stream (sarcastic answer for ppl who only wants to see results)
ZOS finally revisits Cyrodiil and has the opportunity to, for the first time literally ever, revamp the Cyrodiil that's already in the game. Or add a couple new features. Or add even one single new feature. Or...seriously anything at all.

Cyrodiil, remember that place @ZOS_BrianWheeler? That big PvP zone that was once one of the main selling points for ESO? That game mode which was designed to be a major draw for the playerbase? That open-world PvP mode that, when combined with ESO's combat, was supposed to set ESO apart from the myriad of other MMO's out there?

And what did ZOS do with this opportunity?

    Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero.

Yet another opportunity gone to waste. You could have taken this moment to finally throw even the smallest of bones to the PvP community, and it didn't even have to be anything crazy. Like you didn't even have to seriously try, even something superficial would have been nice. We're so starved for content that we'd be happy to lie to ourselves and pretend everything was cool. We couldn't even get that though, not even so much as a placebo. You could have at least pretended to care, but instead you chose a continued abdication of anything resembling "development" of PvP.

So yeah. I'm hyped I guess, just not in a positive way.

All the threads lamenting what did not happen with this expansion are pretty funny considering we've already been told none of this would be happening.

The moves in this game are mimicking what happens to a lot of other games that are getting older: cashing out.

    Better get used to it.

I realise that in this context 'hype' only really means 'interested', not 'extremely excited' which is how I usually interpret it. But even then I would be hesitant to say I'm hyped.

It's...well, it's exactly what we've come to expect from a chapter: a story DLC with a random extra tacked on to justify selling it separately to subscribers. I almost never subscribe so that's not an issue for me but it's also nothing special, it's another story DLC and likely no better (but hopefully no worse) than the others.

I will get it at some point because I get all the story DLC. Part of why I play ESO is because I think it's the best chance I've got of eventually seeing all of Tamriel and some of the rest of Nirn and bits of Oblivion. (That's not a criticism BTW, I just think it's impractical to expect all of Nirn and nonsensical to expect all of Oblivion, which is supposed to be infinite.)

I might pre-order it because I like the look of the welwa mount, and I like that if I wait I can skip the flaming bear. But I want to see the mount in-game first and see what kind of prices are available before I make a decision on that.

    Sorry Guys,

ESO is an MMO !!! why u support solo players??? Mega *** !!!
Maybe u must work on the Peformance of the game? I guess that is better than add some useless things like "Pets" (Companion).

In my opinion Soloplayers must play Assassins Creed or something like that, but they shouldn't play MMOs like ESO.

My hype entirely rely on two factors:

Performance: If we get another broken launch where they break half the game for 1-2 weeks that's a huge No No
Story: If it's like Summerset, Wrothgar or Southern Elsweyr quality awesome - If it's like Greymoor it'll be a letdown.

As I was asleep I have not seen the stream, not going to as the stream is well over two hours. I did piece most of the information together from the forum posts though. Would be cool if someone could describe all the new features in some detail on the forums, so all the information is layed out easily for those who have not watched the stream. Really wonder why ZOS did not do this. Or atleast a thread with links to information about the new features.

Anyways. I have always loved companions, so I do hope my characters can get a healing companion, as some of them do not have selfheals at all. I just hope they keep their distance, as followers in ESO have proven to be very annoying so far. The CP/basic armor overhauls, I do not yet know how this will work exactly. Seems cool, but until it is all fitted together in-game I won't be able to really judge this. It does seem like PvE tanks will receive quite the nerf(7% more magic dmg), but this is only at first glance. Downsides to regular armor types, does not seem like a good idea to me. As this hits new players as well. It might be better to place those downsides on full set wearers only, so the downsides only hit those deep into the game.

Other than that, this all just seems like a basic expansion. Which is cool. I just hope we do not have to run oblivion gates over and over and over, as I loathed those about TES4: Oblivion. Not hyped or overhyped at all, as the pool suggests, but I did pre-order already. Especially since I know I am going to play the expansion.

The main reason I pre-ordered is because I recently started using the outfit system. And my green outfit main tank did not have a matching mount, and now he does as it comes with the pre-order! hehe.

I really don't know how to vote because I'm really biased, I'm invested in really only the TES franchise so I'm excited for anything related to it. I also love imperial and argonian stuff and Blackwood is my second favorite area from TES IV. Gideon is even the hometown of one of my main OCs. But as others have said, it feels underwhelming for a chapter, ignoring my bias. Will still be preordering

I have exactly zero hype. Just worry. They're loading a huge amount of changes (CP + Armor) into the first DLC of the year, and the only thing we're getting for the chapter is... Companions. Which I never use in any of the single player games (I can't stand them). I'm concerned that any performance improvements they make this year will wind up backfiring again and making performance worse, or bringing back the crashing we had with Markarth.

I feel like they would have been better off saving the CP overhaul for the chapter rather than the first DLC of the year. At least then the chapter would offer something more than just companions, and they wouldn't be making as many huge changes all at once.

It doesn't help that I'm not fond of the limiting of passives in the new CP overhaul, and the fact that armor now has penalties for wearing it (except for medium, for some reason). I main a PvE tank and now heavy armor makes me take more magic damage? What? That makes absolutely no sense.

So, yeah. Not even remotely hyped for this year.

Now I am hyped. I would be Super Preorder hyped, except I am too lazy and always buy Chapters at the last minute.

Although for a Chapter, it's not offering a lot of stuff, what we are getting is stuff that I really want, so what's not to be hyped about? See below:
    • Companions that look like they will have even more depth than in single player games, with romance possibilities in later incarnations
    • Potential to convince the devs to remove the 'group only' hindrances from PVE healing and support skills and sets given the end of these restrictions in PVP
    • Champion System Rework (Come'on PTS, hurry up!)
    • All of those Imperial buildings for us to explore in Leyawiin, with new furnishings in that style--finally, Imperial furniture not locked behind the Crown Store!!

What I took away from the presentation is this:

    1. ZOS is spending more money on marketing to sell is a story full of bull instead of spending the money on equipment and talent to fix what is wrong.
    2. ZOS is not willing to upgrade the servers so that we can continue enjoying the game as it is, instead, they are only willing to spend as much as is required to be able to continue the way things currently are. It was made clear that the new server upgrades will not positively affect performance at all.
    3. ZOS is planning on testing, removing functionality of certain systems, in order to fix the resource issues instead of *** the right thing and spending what is required to make things function and to fix the server issues. Taking away the procs on gear sets to save on server resources is bull. That's what makes PvP so special is how those gear sets function. So instead, ZOS is going to test taking that away from us to solve their issues so they can retain their profit margin.
    4. ZOS wants us to believe that crippling the system in place, changes the system currently in place, is a fix instead of the facts which are that they are unwilling to do the right thing, to spend the money on talent and equipment required to do so.

It's not so much as the new chapter doesn't look cool, they spent a lot of money on the presentation. It's that ZOS is planning on taking away functionality, uniqueness, fun. They are planning on crippling systems that would require more investment to fix and maintain. Instead, they spend money on how to remove them or cripple them or change them to seem like they are doing us some sort of favor.

Increasing CP cap is not meant to do us any favors, it's meant to keep those who have hit the cap playing so they can sell them more stuff.

I'm not buying the expansion because frankly, I feel like I am going to end up quitting ESO. I'm not happy with the proposed changes, I'm not happy with the obvious manipulation and tricks that ZOS is attempting to pull, I am not happy with any of what I saw, and especially not happy that they are willing to spend so much on marking instead of spending that money on fixing the issues.

Just kind of feel sick after watching the "big reveal". They should have presented it like the cell phone manufacturers do "Leaked images" it would have gone over far better.

It all seems lackluster to me. What I took away from this was.....
    - They are dumbing down certain aspects of the game to “improve” performance. But then again they’ve been doing that from a few updates now. Now they just doing it to Champion points.

    - New servers, but they won’t affect performance! What in the Bikini Bottom is this? And are people not understanding? I see quite a few post for hype for severs but why when they aren’t going to improve anything gameplay performance wise.

    - Companions? The big selling point for this new Chapter. $40 for an artificial friend? In a MMO? What in the Sam-hill is this. It’s a MMO. Just grab a friend in game and save your money. I hate interacting with people but I do it in game with like minded people. This just screams casual to me. The game is dead easy in overland. And I recently started fresh on the EU server with no cp and it was still easy. Now we get help clearing brain dead content. Yippie!
I’ll make a prediction. This feature will increase the amount of low levels being kicked out of dungeon runs. Mark my words. Can’t pull your weight in DPS, kick em and add a bot. Healer wants to heal, to bad, kick them an add a bot DPS.

    - Nothing for pvpers. The devs have given up on these poor souls, they are still stuck with bad lag in and around keeps. And nothing new to look forward to in this chapter other then a armor and CP change that basically comes with the base game and may result in nerds to their current play style.

They could have kept companions and gave us a Sword/rune magic weapon skill line and I’m sure most would be happy with that. Only people using companions will be low level 1 button smashers in already brain dead content and RPers or people who want a story mode in dungeons.

    Disappointed.

Really hoping one day for the Alliance War to officially end and Cyrodiil gets a chapter where we help rebuild the Empire. I'd actually enjoy a more, mundane, peaceful content. One more focused on side questlines and exploration. The whole "THE BIG BAD IS COMING YOU NEED TO SAVE THE WORLD" plot can only be done so many times.

I feel the same way. I also took Lyris mentioning Skingrad way too seriously considering those hints held true the past couple years, and I was really excited for it.

    This ^

I was rooting for Skingrad and the West Weald so much, that I did not even consider they will go for Blackwood. Regardless, I was hoping for a chapter centered on rest of the Imperials other than daedra zelots. Instead we get a mix of Gold Coast and Murkmire DLC. I am not saying Argonians aren't cool, but we have Murkmire and plenty of Argonian stuff already.

I am also disappointed of how much product placement they did (for stuff available only in the US most likely), instead of showing us the game or just discussing features, new stuff.

It is tiresome to see how they borrow so much from the previous games that take place 800 later in the timeline. Each time I am like, wait, isn't this supposed to be 8 centuries earlier, yet here it is looking/happening the same. At least with Elsweyr they took the dragon plot from Skyrim, but for Blackwood we get to see a rehash of the old story from TES4, just with a new twist: oh let's see how it all started, which is kind of not so engaging since we know what is going to happen centuries later.

At this point (playing since the beta) only housing keeps me mildly interested with the game. The new chapters can't even be compared with releases like Morrowind, Wrothgar or Clockwork. The biomes of Wrothgar amaze me even today after so many years, and Clockwork city feels such a different alien world, yet fantasy... proof of what amazing content can be done with the right amount of inspiration and dedication.

    Probably most likely, no...
After reading many other posts here, I can only agree that Greymoor was a big let down (for the price, the nostalgia and the sheer silliness of bugs when it launched). It was one of the biggest and most waited for DLC's in many people's minds I can imagine, but it didn't hit a home run.
Consequently I didn't feel any interest for the Markarth DLC which followed up. Also reading the forum here every few days showed me right as Markarth was riddled with problems once again on release.

I do hope we will see an incremental change in the way DLC content is hastily pushed onto the market (as they said in their open letter of apology) and also a rework on events/daily quality of life aspects of the game and more investment into the base game which most of us helped launched many years ago.

Our current flow chart seems like this:
'We want working and additional gameplay and PVP fixes' -> 'Here's a DLC that's bugged and no fixes' -> 'We won't buy if it's bugged' -> 'Ok but new content is payable' -> *Flow chart explodes*

I was disappointed having to pay full-whack price for a chapter that was stated would be a watered down version, with limited systems added.

Companions sounds like a fun addition in principle, but I am not looking forward to seeing hundreds of the same NPC following everyone around .. I'd have loved it if we could name, dress, and create our companions, but I presume we will be getting pre-generated clones that everyone will have, and be funnelled to the crown store to buy an extremely limited selection of other companions. Considering the way other systems are supported in terms of variety (merchants, personalities, wigs etc), I doubt we will get many more added, or not the kind that appeals to the variety the playerbase might want.

I'll be playing the game, so I paid the money .. so you can be sure I'll have my companions out everywhere they can be. My little bots will join the clone army and I suppose we'll just get used to it.

Personaly I feel it will give us even less then Greymoor which is lame. One great thing is new servers but after so many broken promises I am cautious about any performance promises.

The CP system is what really makes me excited! Hopefully it's not going to be the same one size fits all system as they used to have, where pretty much all character builds had more or less the exact same CP allocation no matter what race, class, gear or play style.
