I rock Julianos. It has a little bit of everything I need, but not too much. It's a great base set to compIiment other sets. I've used it so long, I would feel naked without it B)

One of my favorites is "Storm Master", not because it's very useful. But because the sound it makes when you hit someone with it. Especially on a bow or DW char.

Wish it would trigger more reliably and not require a full heavy attack crit.

I'm using it on some alt char from time to time just for the sound it makes, and it's a good source of concussion for stamina users, especially with a charged weapon. You reapply concussion every other hit. But as I said, way too unreliable to trigger it to be useful.

    Bright-Throat Boast.
For me it works a way better than Necropotence, it gives a great bonuses to both damage and sustain. Somehow I wasn't able to get balance between sustain and damage with other sets, and Bright-Throat made it so I have really great sustain and I can enchant all jewelry for spell damage increase.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

As a magDK pvp:er, I absolutely love the shacklebreaker set. Gives lots of raw resources, as well as the much needed small extra stam regen on top of the regular mag regen for a magdk.

You are only person I ever heard use prayer shawl successfully. How does your concept work? Are you using barriar to proc shawl with it's healing? Is the proc okay in small groups? How about big ones?

I’ve been told a lot that prayer shawl is broken, but it proc’s a lot for me. My healer is a crit build for better up time in maelstrom staves and combat physician. Group size doesn’t seem to matter for the proc’s, with the resto staff sheild in there besides it’s not uncommon for people to have 2 or three damage shields at once. Bastion in cp makes them bigger. I use barrier ultimate when I need to heavy attack some magic back or I see a big group one hit coming. Other than that it’s just the standard Templar spells, shards, ritual... etc.

I am very partial to Valkyn Skoria, even on my stam builds.

As far as gear, though, while I don't use it at all anymore, unfathomable darkness is always fun. Used to love going into PvP with it on just to see birds chase other players down.

Bahraha's Curse is probably my favorite underrated set. It's not min/max but the amount of survivability it adds to tanks is incredible. I keep a heavy set on each tank as a swap in for content where something like Alkosh would not really be necessary and I have a light set I use on mag toons when I'm just running around doing simple things and don't want to think about having to ever heal myself. I find it useful for Skyreach grinding and other content with a large amount of trash mobs. Combo'ed with Iceheart, it can make you fairly tough to crack.

Stygian was such a great set when it first started dropping in Craglorn. They never did it justice when they tried to make it work after the great magicka and stamina sundering.

Honorable mention to spinners and Caluurion. Two great sets that go great together.

    1. Embershield using a lightning staff for the fire shield that swirls around self.
    2. Iceheart for the incredible icy shield around self. That set's aesthetics is what made me say screw it to any magic dps meta and make Frost mages into dps., that in combination with Winterborn.
    3. Thunderbug and Storm Knight effects are dope.
    4. Infernal Guardian for fire mortars.
    5. Pretty much all the elemental sets that give awesome views. Illambris as one also.

    PVE:
-Magic: It actually might be Siroria, and not solely because it's meta. Meta DPS sets have come and gone over the years, but I really like the mechanic of Siroria because it rewards good positioning as well as a good rotation.
-Stamina: Vicious Ophidian. It's not as good as it used to be, but for an all around stamina setup, its pretty hard to beat.

PVP: Probably VD, and I am not even a bomber. I just like watching Sneaky blow up pugs. Haha

I absolutely love Jorvuld's Guidance set when healing in pve. Fun fact - it makes tri-pot effects last well over a minute. But the simple amount of breathing space the set offers is just outstanding. I also like the Asylum's resto staff too, though I'd much prefer the master resto staff if I could get my hands on it..

Akaviri Dragonguard. Best tank set in the game so far.

Hunt Leader. Secretly the best NB tank set.

It wasn't released yet, but for tank builds that have high resistances from skills/passives (i.e. Nords of any class starting next week and Templars of any race), Stonekeeper is probably the best tank monster set yet.

I think you get the trend... Basically my favorite set is any set that has set bonuses helpful to tanking, helps resource management, and can be used effectively in the vast majority of fights and with any group composition and quality.
