I used to like playing Wood Elves in Skyrim and wanted to see what Valenwood was like mainly I think. I wasn't disappointed either as I thought the area was great and still think the same, even if I do barely visit the place now and spend most time in pvp. Grahtwood is probably still my favourite looking zone, think they did a great job at creating that place.

I’ll try just about every RPG out there. Wasn’t interested in an MMO, but heard ESO stongly supported single player questing with good storylines. Plus I had already played three Elder Scrolls games, so I was into the setting. Bought it on sale for thirty bucks about a year after it first launched on console, iirc.

My gaming buddy & I were big fans of the Elder Scrolls series.. we played Morrowind, Oblivion & Skyrim to death & we bemoaned the lack of co-op play in those games... so we pre-ordered ESO as soon as we heard about it. The first whole year of ESO we just wandered around exploring the place .... good times.

It was a free-to-play game on Xbox a long time ago, so I decided to give it a try. Afterwards I decided to buy the full game. I've always been a fan of RPG games, too.

I got a better computer and better internet.

For a long time, I literally couldn't download the game. Then after some upgrades to both computer and internet speed, one day I realized I could finally play ESO.

It was funny, because I was one of the original beta-testers (had an invite from playing Skyrim), but wasn't able to download their very first patch to the beta, so I had to drop out of the beta testing, then wasn't able to play ESO for years. :'( If I'd had a better computer/internet I could have had a beta monkey. :/ Not sure how I was even able to download the beta initially, except that I remember that it took a VERY long time.

I've been playing Skyrim and Oblivion for a couple of years now and I'd just finished playing Morrowind for the first time earlier on this year and fell in love with that too, and after looking at a few gameplay videos for ESO's Morrowind chapter I thought "sure why not" and bought it. I was hesitant about playing ESO for a while because I'd heard some bad things about it (especially at launch), but I'm glad that I decided to give it a go in the end :)

    howdy rohamad :)

i was bummed it was a "mmo"...I had no real clue though what a mmo was...

i just wanted to play more skyrim/oblivion...

took me about a month after it had been released on the ps4 to finally buy it...

first delve i ran into that had bunches of other folks running around killing and looting everything like crazy...I started to get it, and, didn't really like it...

the graphics and story though got me hooked...

I forgot to unsubscribe from a humble monthly and got it from that month's early release games. I let it sit a few months but I love RPGs so I have it a shot... I'm 1200 hours in now, so clearly it was a happy accident. I treat it like a single player game with other people running around though.

First: Sorry for my bad english :p

I love the TES Series. I have played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. None of them has disappointed me. Since 2005 i am fan of MMorpgs too. The first one i have play was WoW. As ESO was announced i was skeptical but then i have play the Beta and was convinced. I have buy the Imperial Edition.

A lack of Content has lead to a break from ESO but since Orsinium i play ESO again. ESO provide me a world where i can do singleplayer activities and Multiplayer activities when ever i want and how I want with many TES elements and a very good Housing system. It has a great Story and a good Content circulation since Orsinium. And the best crafting system for me. No MMO since WoW i played throughout.

I may be remembering this wrong, but I think I was extended an invite during one of the closed stress test weekends. I don't know how I ended up on ZOS's radar back then, though.

I had just completed the Witcher 3 (greatest game ever made) and was going through some serious withdrawal symptoms. I needed a new action RPG to play, preferably an MMO so that it would never end.

I didn't even consider ESO at the beginning because of how bad it was on launch, and because I thought it still required a sub. It wasn't until I realized how bad all the MMOs on the market were that I came across a video suggesting giving ESO a second chance as it's improved a lot since launch. I decided to take the plunge (paid $60 for it) and now I'm hooked. It's certainly no Witcher 3 (or anywhere close to it, but no game is or ever will be), but it scratches an itch.

I love TES games and the trailers looked promising, so I bought it soon after release, but never played, due to being busy with uni and other games.

After I quit WoW in April, me and friends tried different MMOs, and settled on ESO.

My main reasons being my love of TES lore and the graphic. Minor reasons contributing to the decision were the great all voice acted questions, freedom of character and build creation, small immersive things like looting containers and stealing, etc.

I was interested in ESO since launch, but MMO element turned me off. It was free week on November 2016 (the very first free week, if I'm not mistaken) when I actually bothered to try it. I completed Wailing Prison, Khenarthi's Roost, and then arrived to Auridon and thought to myself "Yeah, I could stay here". And there I stayed. Fin.

    Fixed it for you <g>
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I... honestly was not interested in this game at the start. I thought that it being multiplayer would gut what makes an Elder Scrolls game special.

I eventually caved and tried ESO out because my thirst for new Elder Scrolls content was too great. I had even read the novels by this point.

I still wasn't terribly interested, in part because I was disappointed that ESO wasn't enough like other Elder Scrolls games and in part because I really hated keyboard and mouse controls at the time.

When controller support was finally added to the game I really started to play in earnest, since the easier control scheme helped me immerse myself in the game world more. Now I really love the game and have fun with both the story and more challenging content, like Veteran DLC dungeons :-)

I've also compromised somewhat on hating keyboard and mouse controls. Now I use a Playstation Navigation controller in one hand for the joystick and a mouse in the other for attacking, blocking, and abilities. Thank Akatosh this game takes controller and mouse inputs at the same time!
