I came back when they dropped the subscription after really disliking what I played of the Beta.

I bought it. Played MMORPGs and had a history with TES. Had a group I gamed with that tried at launch.

Unfortunately all of them left due to what was probably the worst MMORPG launch in history.

I did get some of them to try the game again recently. All but one remains since they still see some of those early bugs in addition to how Zos is challenged managing the game leading to the heavy handed changes they make most updates. It is disappointing.

Always loved ES games but was unsure over ESO.

My previous subscription MMO which was DCUO had made too many bad decisions, too many bad customer practises so I wound down there.

Decided that I'd try ESO as a 'walking simulator' just somewhere I could be rather than actually do anything but it drew me in, did some important things right and gave me an enjoyable game to play.

I have been keeping an eye on this game since launch though at the time the prices seemed staggering, on top of a required subscription. Based on some livestreams I watched on Twitch and glaringly bad reviews I was put off. Not only that but at the time my financial situation wasn't nearly as stable as it is now.

I decided to join just after they came out with Tamriel Unlimited. This was before any DLC came out and subbing really did feel optional. At the time subs only gave the crown stipend and the 10% bonuses. Nothing more.

Before release? ESO Weekly by ShoddyCast. I was originally on the ol' bandwagon of hating the game because "It won't be either a good Elder Scrolls game, and it won't be a good MMO", and I wanted to mock the game for the rumoured $500M budget. However, I got more into it and SC's personalities and decided to follow it further. I didn't like the launch and the game didn't do anything to grip me early on, so I decided to quit.

Skipping forward to now, it's because my WoW Guild Master decided to play this while the next patch is in testing, and may give that a shot depending on if it solves his problems with the game (mostly a lack of stuff to do pre-Mythic+ or raiding). I decided to give ESO a shot with him, and so far I'm loving it. He seems to be fairly impressed too.

ESO is not my permanent MMO home. I play for friends and set goals, and without either, it cannot keep me active. I've only really got one, maybe two friends in this game, but I've got goals to keep me active for the time being.

I also was a huge TES fan before eso (since daggerfall, although I did play arena)
    I like mmo's
I like massive castle siege battles.

I'd played TES 3, 4, 5, so I was interested in ESO. But I was far too busy IRL to get involved with the beta or the first months after ESO was released. By that time I'd seen and heard a lot a bad things about the game. And it was an MMO, and I'd had bad experiences in MMO's, being punished for not guilding or grouping. So, I was very dubious about ESO, especially as it was subscription only, and the first DLC's were aimed at groups and PvP, not solo questing.

Then ESO Tamriel Unlimited was released. It was desperately cheap and didn't require a sub. So, I thought I'd give it a try, just to see for myself. Do the quests and ditch it, at very little expense, if it didn't work out.

By the time I'd done the base zones they'd really started to fix the game. I could see it was heading in the right direction, so I stayed. And look at the game we have now <3:)

After playing World Of Warcraft for a good few years, I was looking for something similar. I was and am already playing Guildwars 2 after playing Guildwars and quite a fan of that series. I was chatting to a friend online and he told me about ESO so I thought I would give it a whirl, so here I am :)

It had Elder Scrolls in the title

But how I came across the ES series was a friend always played Oblivion on the 360 and after watching him play this for a few weeks and when I finally got round to getting my own console I eventually got the game myself and later moved onto Skyrim

Sadly I have yet to play the earlier games

I like TES games and I like some MMOs, so when I saw the advert for ESO beta (on Facebook of all places) I was intrigued. I did some investigating into the history of the game first - who was developing it, where did the idea come from, what exactly did they intend to make etc. I wanted to make sure this was a game I'd actually want to play and not another rushed WoW-clone with an existing franchise tacked on to suck in players. (There was a lot of that going on at the time.)

It sounded good so I signed up and got into the first public beta. Unfortunately I was put off by the number of bugs and other issues which kept being reported and then kept coming up in future betas. (At first I was the one saying "it's a beta test, of course there's bugs!" but when the same ones kept coming up, right up to launch I got discouraged. Also somehow ESO always made me want to play GW2 or Skyrim instead when it should have been an ideal mix of both. I was willing to pay £30 for it, but not to keep paying £9 a month to play, especially when the subscription model doesn't work with my erratic free time.

I kept following the game, waiting for something to persuade me it was worth buying and in the end that was the switch to buy-to-play. I bought the game a month before the switch (to use my free 30 days) and I've been here ever since. It had improved a lot between the betas and Tamriel Unlimited, but it was One Tamriel which really made this feel like a TES game.

First: Sorry for my bad english :p

I love the TES Series. I have played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. None of them has disappointed me. Since 2005 i am fan of MMorpgs too. The first one i have play was WoW. As ESO was announced i was skeptical but then i have play the Beta and was convinced. I have buy the Imperial Edition.

A lack of Content has lead to a break from ESO but since Orsinium i play ESO again. ESO provide me a world where i can do singleplayer activities and Multiplayer activities when ever i want and how I want with many TES elements and a very good Housing system. It has a great Story and a good Content circulation since Orsinium. And the best crafting system for me. No MMO since WoW i played throughout.

    Your English is fine. :)

It looked like a fun adventure and it was a little bit cheaper sub than EVE Online.

I had too much IRL stuff going on when WOW released and its look didn't appeal to me (recently played for the first time and uninstalled within an hour). 18 months before ESO's release I got more time to play games.

Honestly, I saw the TV advert and thought it looked pretty good, even though it wasn't a gameplay trailer and I have never played any Elder Scrolls games in the past. I bought the Tamriel Unlimited edition for the same price as the standard when it was released for the Xbox and have played it since. It's the first MMO on a console for me. I have now got it for the PC for when I'm working away.

I like MMOs. I like Elder Scrolls. Started back in beta but didn't play much before 1T was added. Prior to 1T, ESO was a little too theme park imo. After 1T it became more TES and that's when I really started enjoying it. That's also the same time Blizzard started their weird crusade against flying in WoD, so I cancelled my sub to WoW and devoted my time and money to ESO.

I played at release and hated it, quitted after 1 month, saw Morrowind for sale at fanatical for $13 about 7 months ago, decided to give a second whirl and found it was a lot more palatable..

But now Nov Nerfs are seeing me move on again, lets hope its not another 4 years.

Became a fan of the Elder Scrolls series with Morrowind, played Oblivion (meh) and Skyrim (good again).

Don't really care about MMOs, and I hope I'm still quite condescendingly cynical towards them, even though I play ESO quite a lot at the moment. ;)

When ESO was launched, I tried it in a sightseeing kind of way. Morrowind's Mounrhold had become a bit old at the time so I thought I'd find out at how it looked in better graphics. Never been to Hammerfell, so let's take a look at how they did it. Didn't really care about actual gameplay, least of all the multiplayer part.

Was severely disappointed because the game was gated behind level advancement - I could not just go to Mournhold and look at it. And I was not good at levelling because I didn't really want to play all that much. So I left and played actual TES3 and Skyrim again for my Elder Scrolls needs.

Came back with Morrowind, and this time, the game had become decent, and the "just go anywhere you want at any time" was much closer to what I expect from a TES game.
