There should be a cooldown on them, so you can only be damaged once per second by them. That was a massive nerf long ago to help those knucklehead melee brawlers who would mindlessly gapclose into three or more of them and go poof. Because in this game, ranged characters may not stay at range. But I digress.
A single mine should hit for about 10k. With a crit, concussion on you and maybe the Shadow mundus from a high-damage build, 14k doesn't seem too unlikely from a single mine.
That´s only the case for NPCs.
Players can trigger all 5 mines in the fraction of a 2nd and instantly blow up.

Yup, if you eat all the mines in one second, it will show in the deathcap as one hit, you probably ate 3 or 4 mines atleast for it to show as 14k dmg. Learn from this and don't do it again:)

OK, sir. What I didn't knew was that each spot of a mine 3 or 5 does separat damage.
