Edit for TLDR: I like MageBlade more than StamBlade. I personally think that they are easy to play and that they are a strong class. These are my stats when I buff up.

Are you trolling, right? Because those stats are crap for PvP

- 16K health in cyro is like a snipe + middle weave

- Siph attacks is not going to save you from poisons (especially the one that dmg your stam)

- Finally, you took a pic of you char buffed with cloak (and probably Stygian), so, you have moar spell dmg (I calculate that without the buffs is around 2.7K) and moar resistance (you know, the shadow barrier passive), so a 15K spell res, and 9 K phys res is nothing special.

Take a pict of the char without buffs and we will se if it good or not.

@Xvorg Edit for TLDR: I was in Auridon when I took that picture, and I don't know if you realize this but I can have 1900 unbuffed spell damage but hit way harder than 5k spell damage because max stats are better than max damage, and also have more sustain because I have a mountain of Magicka, poisons do not affect me because of damage shields, and obviously I wasn't in Cyrodiil when I took that picture.

Lol go out to open world, try to take on 3 people then remember that when you're snared and rooted you can't do anything about it, your merciless resolve will only work if it feels like it, your 2 shields aren't enough to keep you alive cause you're rooted and you can't get away, and maybe you do set up 4 light attacks and you're about to deliver the killing blow but dodge chance screws you over. Yea mageblade is bad for open world.

Once you "turtle up" with a magblade the fight is over. Your shields will not save you. The only way to effectively PvP with a magblade is to constantly apply pressure to your enemy. If you stop to shield up, they will quickly burst your shields down and destroy you.

Your 22 k health is nothing, so snipe medium weave snipe and your dead. Light armor lacks any real resistance and a stamblade will burst you down in two seconds.

Siphoning Strikes will keep your stam up as long as your applying pressure to your enemy, stop to turtle up and there goes all your stam.

Point of rant, magblades are decent in 1v1 and duels, open world, they get destroyed every 2 seconds, especially in melee range.

1- Ok, the max magicka is buffed, right?In Cyro it doesn't matter 50K magicka if you need to cloak or cast shadows to get the numbers. Same in the case of using necropotence in a mageblade. Those are more for a PVE build rather than a PvP build.

2- 22K health are not gonna save you either. In cyro, if you want to do smething as a magebade you need at least 25K and 5 pieces HA.

3- You do have the right to give your opinion, but at least hear other's opinions and xp regarding the issue. What you are showing is a picture ad not a video showing your playing style. Anyone can get those numbers if he builds towards that.

4- . 5 Julianos and 5 necro is not a good combo for mageblade. Julianos doesn't give anything to the Mageblade playing style, and 5 necro is somewhat useful in a fight (nothing else). In fact 4 pieces necro is beter than 5 pieces in a mageblade and gives you space to use 2 grothdar (which is more helpful). 5 pieces rattlecage are way better than 5 pieces julianos if you aim for spell dmg (358 spell dmg + major sorc for free). You can combine that with good old willpower + any monster set and a MS destro staff to get even better numbers. Good thing is that HA synergizes well with the shadow passives, or, if you prefer, combine Rattlecage with Seducer to get a good cost reduction.

So your main to go reason for being OP is a weapon ult that every single class as access to...

By your reasoning all Mag builds are OP in Pvp.

Any class can max out magicka and hit hard with the destro ult, too bad stam builds can and will just roll dodge out of it, or rather walk out because it isn't really as OP as everyone claims it is. I've seen heavy builds just stand in that like it's no big deal.

Necro and Julianos are great sets for magblade. Rattle cage is decent if you don't want to slot major sorcerery. Necro is good because you should have your shade down at all times anyway. Just in case you need to reposition.

if you are playing solo you are going to want to get more regen at least 1600. siphoning attacks is great but if you get forced into the defensive while wearing light armor that regen will not support you staying alive. your health is very low as well you can switch out julianos for alchamist or trainee to fix that. nightblades as a class always have great stat sheets. people complain about them being difficult to play because literally everything you do has to be set up and it requires so much micromanagement. You also don't have any free damage or a way to deal with root or snare spam. purge is horrible. Mist form is decent but I hate that ability. Most of the time it feels like I'm just delaying the fight only with my regen cut off. Magblades could definitely use a few buffs in cyrodiil

That's like saying that you need to wear heavy armor on a sorcerer because their damage shields aren't good enough. Yes I do play on consoles. I hope you know that I can get an 11k damage shield in PvP that I can keep spamming over and over again for great protection.

@thankyourat I play with 1100 recovery on all of my characters and I never run out of resources because I'm always animation cancelling and I have a really good rotation. I make sure that I apply my buffs/dots every 10 seconds, damage shields every 4, and hit my main dps inbetween heavy attacks/light attacks with siphoning attacks. I can maintain 90% resources an entire fight.

Edit: Not all of my characters. Stamdk I play with 600.

@CavalryPK I can't because my recorder on my PS4 doesn't work for some reason.

ESO on PS4 is a different game from ESO on PC. You should have started mentioning that, I've had a lot of discussions with people because of that.

Most of the things that work on PS4 don't work either on PC or Xbox1. Glad to hear that a mageblade works on PS4, but saddly on the other platforms mageblades suck...

1100 is fine in heavy. In light however sometimes you will need to cast a damage shield every second or two to stay alive. That's what I was getting at if you can control every fight like a 1v1. 1100 could be fine in light as well in duals, but open world it's going to be painful sometimes. Especially in light armor. You will take a incap that you never seen coming and be forced on the defensive and that regen stat will fail. I don't know what animation cancelling has to do with regen but I'm glad you are doing it lol. I would also try to get more impen pieces that crit resist should be bigger. These are just suggestions, and since you are having fun that's really the only thing that matters. It's my favorite class because when you actually do everything right and set your opponents up for the kill or the escape is very rewarding, and how difficult it is to do keeps me engaged in the game. I get bored playing my other classes they sometimes feel too easy.

@Xvorg You asked me what my stats are unbuffed without entropy, necropotence, spell damage enchantment, and stealth were. Here they are, sorry it took so long. I was at college.


I also made sure that I wasn't in a buffed campaign. The only buffs that I have active right now is my food.

@thankyourat Animation cancelling for my toon means that I cast merciless resolve, then siphoning attacks, weave light attacks in between swallow soul which is my main dps, and then after 4 light attacks I hit 11k merciless resolves.

@Xvorg I don't know why that is to be honest. I just know that I hit really hard because I have a mountain of magicka. Low spell damage, but it doesn't matter because the max stats make up for it. I race changed for magicka just because I was getting tired of being a one-shot-wonder-man. I was wearing heavy and 2 proc sets, only had to push one button to win a fight, and I felt as if there's no point in playing a game if there is no challenge whatsoever. This is why I went magicka.

I have a Magblade, on PC NA its fun, but to play Magblade optimally now, best to just not use Cloak at all.

I run something similar to what @NightbladeMechanics runs ( I stumbled on his video a day after i pulled my Nightblade out of moth balls and put some gear on him and thought to give it a try, i was relived to know if he thinks its good, it must be good) I am running 5 Julianos, 5 Transmutation, and 2 Grothdarr (I think Kena is using Skoria instead, but my Skoria set is dedicated to my dungeon running PVE mag DK)

Its taking some getting used to,but Refreshing Path/Mutagen to get Transmutation procs with Heavy Armor is needed to give Magblade any kind of surviability. Cloak is just to unreliable.

Overall with the Heavy Build the damage is there, the sustain is there with Siphoning Attacks, its just a matter of setting up your opponent with a Hard CC to Spectral Bow + Animation cancel an Impale to finish them off.

If I actually had the time, I'd be using 5 lich, 2 grothdar, and 5 bsw. I'd be using force pulse as my main dps, high spell damage, high recovery, and about 50% spell crit because I will use thief, with around 44k max magicka. However I cannot simply put a build like this together because I just don't want to come on here and have to spend an entire day farming those sets, only to come up empty handed. Not to mention that I will be forced to wear a costume. But if you ask me, it's well worth it.

Now that I actually think about it though, I might actually consider using heavy armor instead of light, due to the fact that light armor is extremely weak right now. I was a heavy armor stamblade but was medium, struggled forever, then switched to heavy armor and I felt like a God. I don't know too many magblades who run around in bathrobes anymore to be honest. @Xvorg

TBH, I don't now how I could play HA mageblade. CW is quite weak and doesn't apply debuffs, so the option is a (middle)ranged HA mageblade.

From there you can go either lit or flame staff. Lit synergy with Sap Essence and twisting path is good, has a chance to apply concussion (minor vulner) on basic attacks and Heavy attack can be boosted through elemental expert and Thaum. Even moar, 75 points in Thaum give you the exploiter passive that can be triggered through wall of storms. And on top of that, you have access to shock reach, which is IMHO the best stun in the game (a Stun from 28 mts that also apply a decent DoT if build properly)

Flame staff synergyzes with all the single target skills, including the very same CW and Soul Harvest.

IMHO, I'd go with lit staff on main bar and resto on back bar. Sure, you are going to use resto for healing, though it has another great use: Magicka recover. Full heavy on resto and HA is one of the best tricks to regain magicka from a safe position.

Now, the question is, what set?

@Xvorg I want burning spell weave but I'd rather just settle for heavy julionos, 2pc grothdarr, and probably 4pc necropotence because I find the fifth pc bonus to be complete overkill. Light armor needs a serious buff, no doubt.

I like WMK since it benefits from every single kind of dmg and has a 4 secs CD. Though BSW gives a higher dmg.

There's another interesting set that gives you a similar bonus to BSW and that's Scathing Mage. The trick? Force Pulse. Since it's a triple attack, each tick has an individual crit chance.

Now, BSW + Scathing on a flame staff should unleash hell on every force pulse after CD, though you need all available defensive skills you have on your bar, and that includes shadows, cloak, shields, and fear, and maybe refreshing barrier as ulti.
