What's a replacement for spinner

So I was wondering what drop set is a good replacement for spinner as I feel that 14k spell pen is too much. I also read somewhere that if you get their resistace to zero then you cant crit against them. Is this true?

I usually do that dungeon for fun so it's all good and I already have 1 necklace and 1 ring

Julianos is a nearly imperceptible damage difference to Spinner. On my sorc, my buffed Soul Assault crit ticks were 150 damage lower with Julianos than with Spinner, and Julianos gives 6% crit chance and delivers its full damage to shields. The practical advantage of Spinner is that it can be worn as jewelry. That's it.

If you absolutely need a Bind on Equip damage set to wear as jewelry, ruling out Julianos, then Mother's Sorrow, Necropotence, Elegance, Sun, and Martial Knowledge are your runners up.

I checked that at the very start of one tamriel. My findings were quite different in terms of:
Julianos offers 170 spelldmg and 6% crit over spinner.
Spinner has 967 magica and 4000 penetration.
The result was the dmg difference before penetration was absolutely neglible (if you did not figure in crit) with only ~80 spelldmg in favor of julianos.
Any dmg test of abilities on a 20k spellresistance target had more than 7% dmg difference in favor of spinners (depending on ability and their respective scaling with spelldmg).

What you don´t want to test is with light/heavyattacks. They benefit immensily from spelldmg while not scaling well with max resource - which skews everything in favor of julianos.

@Vanzeii Burning spellweave. I find Spriggons/Spinners to be useless sets because you aren't always fighting tanky characters and when you are, you are not really missing out on much damage.

I buffed up and soul assaulted Xylena's heavy armor stam DK a few times with all gold sharpened/impen Spinner staff and armor, then switched them out for Julianos with the same traits. I was trying to determine which set to use on my sorc with Lich at the time.

Interesting, how much dmg did you hit for in total? if you hit for 2500 that´s still a 6% increase for example - which would be low but still somewhat reasonable.
