    Shield Breaker...

Unless you're planning to light/heavy attack them to death from range, this won't help a solo player against a BS tank. Just gang up on them and stun them until you wear them down.

So very wrong. Killed blazing shield templars 1v1 using shield breaker and magnum shot to keep them off me. They go down, slowly, but they go down.
Just keep them at distance and bash them when and if they go invigorating drain.
Your blazing shield like you said is health regen, well 99% are not and they cant really heal up properly. Magnum shot and shield breaker is devastating for them

Fair point. Stacking health leaves you with pitifully weak heals.

Except when you're low health, malubeth procs, you throw down channelled focus for major mending and hit invigorating drain. Will get me back to near full most times. Other than that healing is pretty terrible.

Except that with new sets and a bit of theory crafting ...

You still can have like 52k health (56 with emp buff) 20k magicka 2.2 spell dam (3k ish with armor/weapon proc) and hence heal for 8/10k with Honnor ...

    And 1.9k mag regen ...

Mag temp have nothing to complain about compared to the mess that mag DK are
I'm sorry but this endless lie that MagDK's are 'a mess' should stop. They could surely need a very slight buff, but they are in no way in a terrible state at all.

    in 1v1 and almost-1v1 (1v2, 1v3, 2v1, etc):

step one: play something else than no-life no-sustain max-uncontrollable-procs
step two: take your time and manage all resources. prepare for a fight that happens while both parties are well above 50% health ALL THE TIME. Make sure to still apply pressure and win on the other two resources. this often means that your rotation looks something like: light attack -> self buff -> light attack -> vigor -> heavy attack -> dot, etc
step three: observe the enemy. does he stop using a certain skill that was annoying to you before? he's probably slowly running out of that resource. slightly increase the pressure, start using your spammable dps abilities. still keep self-healing and self-buffing a lot, only go full offence when you're sure to kill.

bonus 1: root them (ice, beast trap, talons, whatever): very annoying for them
bonus 2: many bombplars will eventually become desperate and start jesus beaming you. always bash that for that juicy damage and CC through immunity.

I don't think I've lost a single duel or 1v1 encounter against a bombplar during one of recent patches playing either stamplar, magsorc, or magplar.

    inside a zerg:
keep away from him, let ranges kill him or kill him in the end. don't trust your zerg to not damage him - just keep away, he does little to nothing to you then.

They really aren't in that rough of shape, but DK's as a class do still have some problems. No class execute means no execute at all for magicka DKs. A glitchy, unreliable gap closer means no gap closer at all for magicka DKs.
Nearly all class DPS abilities are melee range which isn't ideal for a magicka caster.
Despite all that, mDKs can still be very strong solo or in a group.

Every class has it's limitations. Try going Magicka Melee on a MagSorc.
