    There should always be a free respec of some sorts when changes like these are made.
    Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

    Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
    Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
    Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
    Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
    Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
    Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
    Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
    Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
    Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.

    Because when you have 8 characters at max level, or even near level 50, it gets real expensive to respec all of them to make changes because the game changed.

    There is a way to do this without resetting all the skills and making the console kiddies cry.

    ZOS has lowered the cost of respec for a week or so before on the live server. Just make all respecs (Attributes, skills, CP) cost 100 gold for a week. Solved.

    Well the reason it isn't happening anymore is Zenimax got flooded by a bunch of people that can't read the announcement when choosing their server or come to the forums to know the freebie was coming. When everyone got reset they got negative feedback from people wondering wtf was going on and not knowing where they had their points and stuff like that. That is why Zenimax will not reset us automatically anymore, ever, period, no matter what. However, the changes that occur to skills each quarter induce the need to reskill and possibly even restat on just about everyone that isn't a lowbie. For many, this can get expensive...

    I did say "in part". I'm well aware of the level of opposition to the respecs we had before, which in itself counters your claim that pretty much everyone needs to reskill every DLC. If everyone had needed a respec each time they wouldn't have complained about having one. Optional respecs are fine in my view, but not enforced ones on login. Overstating the case for them won't make them happen, neither will criticising those who oppose them.

    Show what rank the skill morph is when you mouse over (or highlight on consoles) so you aren't picking blind for people who "forget".

    There is ZERO reason not to have an option for a free respec other then ZoS wants you to buy crown store respec scrolls. After having to spend around 140k gold to respec my 8 vr16s last update i thought about canceling my sub. I didn't cause i want to support the game. But then when they gave us the cake XP buff, that did nothing for me since i have way more then 501 cp and 8 maxed toons i finally unsubed.

    You cant be that greedy ZoS. You have to stop screwing over your most loyal players. Not giving free respecs to those of us with so many maxed level toons is a punishment.

    Respec is great, you get your SPs back, you get to try a new build, you get to try out some of the modified morphs or skills, all without paying out the arse.

    Anyone who doesn't want a respec is either lazy, or not very creative or not very adventurous.

    IMO a re-spec scroll for each character is reasonable. Bind it to the character (this has been done with some trophies, so the mechanic already exists in game) so you can't sell it, bank it, or transfer it. But I see no reason to have it expire.

    It might be weeks before I get around to playing all 8 (or MORE after this update) of my toons, or I might not immediately notice that some of my skills have been nerfed to usability.

    The changes this time are more than 50 screens of information and a lot of the changes have implications that are not immediately apparent. It could take a few weeks -- or a couple of months -- to realize what all this will really do to the game. A lot of us are likely to need a second re-spec after we play for a while and learn how all this works now. One freebie is not too much to ask.

    expiration date is so people can't hold it till they know another is coming, that and it's a taste of the crown stores "gifts" and lets be honest would you hold onto a freebie if it means it can save you some cash later down the line? hence the expire.

    I build my characters carefully and am happy with them as they are. To respec isnt an issue for me,so naaah.I dont need a respec really.
    However,a few of my earliest characters could use a n attribute respec.I can buy a scroll for that though,or use a shrine.

    Stacks of 99,099 Minotears can be turned in at any M'aiq location in exchange for a lockbox.
    Lockbox will either contain one respec scroll or a new trophy, the Pile of Man Bull ***.

    The Pile is still valuable! Place it in a large room and watch everyone start crying uncontrollably, because art imitates life. Also, it really really smells, that bull ***.

    How many Vet characters do you have? It gets expensive really fast. We aren't asking for respecs on a whim because we want to try a different build. A lot of skills and passives got reworked completely and your old build might not be optimal anymore.

    Yeah, I'm really happy with my characters right now too. That doesn't really matter when many skills and passives are being changed in the update now does it?

    ZOS is editing almost every skill in the game. Some have had their functionality drastically change (Trapping Webs, anyone?). Yes, we need a free respec as skills are all very different in Dark Brotherhood. Be fair please ZOS!

    It doesn't need to be forced if that's the issue, but a once per character free respec can only be good.
