Are veteran ranks still gonna be removed?

The best way is to stay with level progression. Like in WoW, new DLC/patch/expansion = higher level cap. Vet ranks were made to get CP along with experience gained as Vet. This game should not, by all means, become a grinding festival. 5% time to level up, 95% time to get best gear/achievements/explore or this game is dead.
    When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Don't worry when they remove Veteran ranks, new gear will have CP requirements to wear, so you can just consider CP as iLVL with CP going up each DLC just like Tiers in WoW and then they will have CP cap increases every few DLC's kind of like level cap increases in WoW. Basically the same progression model as WoW with different names.

Which is already what's happening with the Vet Ranks now, so there's even more reason to leave them in the game.

The leveling at end-game already works like this. Why change it?

Leave in the Vet Ranks, Zeni.

@ZOS_GinaBruno what do we have to do to get you to change your minds?

So basically people just don't want to level. Don't play the game then. Unbelievable...

The sad thing is, once they make the switch.. We can almost count on topics in the forum like:

"CP takes too long to get"
"Reduce the time it takes to get CP"
"My friend won't play because the CP system sucks"
    "Do away with CP"
"Please sell CP in the crown store"

If you want a friend, get a dog.

    Exactly.

And after the Vet ranks are removed, then we'll also get the joy of wading through the inevitable posts about: "1-50 takes too long, Zeni!!! Why can't my Alts all just start at 50!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? T3h Gr1ndz R r3aL!!!!"

It will happen. Mark my words.

It's bad enough that there will be little to no progression after they remove Vet Ranks. Once you hit 50, that's it. You're at the top with nowhere to go, no way to "grow" your character.

I'd rather they just rename the Vet Ranks as "50-100". At least then there's something to shoot for once the VR's are gone. As is is now, once VR's are removed; the same people crying buckets of tears to get the VR's removed will move on to "There's nothing to do after hitting 50, Zeni!!!!!! I'm at the top and there's nothing left to earn on my chracters!!!!!"

That will happen as well. Just watch.

I'll look like a prophet a couple pf months after the Vet Ranks are gone...

The suggested system works and will promote people playing the game with more toons in different roles:
    • First time players - will do 1 to 50 and will then run cadwell silver and gold to get their CP up. Most players will do this so they get to see all content in the game. Those that did not enjoy the questing could decide to gain CP through PVP (slow) or grind certain PVE spots. They will need to CP grind to get themselves to a competitive level but only one time.
    • Max level players - can now easily create alts and get them to max level 50 in a few days and instantly thow their new alts into end game content or PVP without the need to do x times the grind that 1-50 was.

This is exactly what I want. I already had a V16 NB, then created a v16 Templar and I remember that grind being terrible and a real deterrent to starting more alts. With the upcoming changes I can leave my v1 DK where it is now and just need to lvl 50 my sorc to have max lvl toons of every class. And its the ability to play with different toons in different roles thats going to keep me wanting to play this game.
