Hexys Sorcerer PvP Build for 2.1 - Duels and Small Scale PvP
Welcome everyone to my Sorcerer Magicka PvP build that is focused on dueling and small scale PvP. With this class you can succeed in all the 3 PvP aspects. Your
sustain in resources is excellent, while you can put out great
damage and at the same time you are very
mobile.
My goal with this build is to push the bounderies to find out the best combination between these 3 PvP aspects. With the champion system we can push these 3 all the time. Do you get more recovery because you gained 50 champion points in the last month? Maybe get more spell damage on your gear! This build is based for players that have atleast 400 champion points. I post this build here to encourage players to start dueling as is it the best way in becoming a skilled PvP player. For EU players there is the dueling guild Arena and for NA there is Legend that are organising duels.

Added Efficient Purge for Small Scale in the Ability Bars Section
2.2 Efficient Purge (Support, morph of Purge)
- In small scale PvP I find Efficient Purge really usefull, it gets you out of Burning Talons, Restraining Prison or Bombard. Since the last patch while being rooted you can't light attack a direction anymore to streak this way.

To start off there are 3 races that suits this build the best.
1. Altmer
- 10% increased max magicka
- 9% increased magicka recovery in combat
- 4% increased elemental damage
2. Breton
- 10% increased max magicka
- Increased spell resistance
- 3% Reduced magicka cost of spells
3. Dunmer
- 6% increased max magicka and stamina
- Increased Fire Resistance and 3% increased max magicka
- 7% increased spell damage with fire effects
Attributes / Mundus stone / Consumable
Attributes
64 magicka / 0 health / 0 stamina
All our attributes will go into magicka, a sorcerer don't need any health as your shields (the more magicka, the stronger your shields are) and mobility will protect you from incoming damage. It is really important to focus on keeping your shields up over damaging your opponents.

This is for sustain, I take this because the extra magicka (The Mage) or spell damage (The Apprentice) are less important in the way this build is setup.
Consumable
V15 Purple food that is increasing all our stats (Magicka, Health and Stamina)
This is to boost our magicka to over 35k, it will make our shields insanely strong. A counter to these shields is Shield Breaker. Food will also gain us more health which means we have more time to kill players using this set. Keep in mind that in a small scale fight you can encounter players with a weighted bow using this set that are spamming light attacks, you can slot alot of healing over time but for me it's not worth to change only for this situation.

I use this setup to benifit from the Undaunted Mettle Passive in the Undaunted Skill line. (2% extra max stamina, magicka and health for every different armor type)

* Reduced cost or magicka recovery if you have sustain issues because of low Champion Points
Ability Bars
Dual Wield (1st ability bar)1. Tangling Webs (Undaunted, morph of Trapping Webs)
- Our main damage ability we use to get health down and shields off our enemy's, it also comes with a 50% snare which is amazing. For small scale the synergy does a 3.5 seconds fear!
2. Crystal Fragments (Dark Magic, morph of Crystal Shard)
- It's important that this ability hits your opponent around the same time as velicious curse. If you know your procced frag is gonna knock the enemy down, hardcast another one straight after.
3. Hardened Ward (Deadric Summoning, morph of Conjured Ward)
- Our main shield against all attacks, 100% uptime.
4. Velicious Curse (Deadric Summoning, morph of Deadric Curse)
- Our timed burst ability that works against every player.
5. Streak (Storm Calling, morph of Bolt Escape)
- I prefer offensive playstyle, for the stun, damage and get nightblades out of stealth.
U. Dawnbreaker of Smiting (Fighter's Guild, morph of Dawnbreaker)
- Great instant high damage ultimate with a very low cost.
Restoration Staff (2nd ability bar)1. Healing Ward (Restoration Staff, morph of Steadfast Ward)
-Our healing ability for if opponents manage to get some health down.
2.1 Boundless Storm (Storm Calling, morph of Lightning Form)
- Some basic defensive stats for if it happens you don't have a shield up and very nice for some movement speed.
2.2 Efficient Purge (Support, morph of Purge)
- In small scale PvP I find Efficient Purge really usefull, it gets you out of Burning Talons, Restraining Prison or Bombard. Since the last patch while being rooted you can't light attack a direction anymore to streak this way.
3. Harness Magicka (Light armor, morph of Annulment)
- Our 2nd shield that works against magicka opponents and helps us with extra resource management.
4. Proximity Detonation (Assault, morph of Magicka Detonation)
- Because it is an instant cast now we can use this ability and time it with velicious curse. I took this morph because inevitable detonation can easiliy be interrupted and only casted while you are in the view of your enemy. It's nice to mind trick your enemy making them think you are running from them, but then returning with the detonation and push them very hard.
5. Power Surge (Storm Calling, morph of Surge)
- Main spell damage buff and some extra heals.
U. Power Overload (Storm Calling, morph of Overload)
- To open an extra ability bar, 99% of the time only used in small scale, not duels
Overload Bar (3rd ability bar, 99% of the time only used in small scale, not duels)1. Volcanic Rune (Mage's Guild, morph of Fire Rune)
- Ground cover, works nice together with Deadric Mines.
2. Defensive Rune (Dark Magic, morph of Rune Prison) <- Put this instead of boundless armour if you duel a Magicka Vampire Nightblade.
- Anti-gank ability, also works great against players using clouding swarm which you will encounter alot these days.
3. Hardened Ward (Deadric Summoning, morph of Conjured Ward)
- Our main shield against all attacks, 100% uptime.
4. Deadric Minefield (Dark Magic, morph of Deadric Mines)
- Ground cover, works nice together with volcanic Rune.
5. Streak (Storm Calling, morph of Bolt Escape)
- I prefer offensive playstyle, for the stun, damage and get nightblades out of stealth.
