    I'd like to share my full thoughts about this, but I'd probably get banned if I did.

    Just... no.

    If you want to nerf SO, do it when there's new, more difficult content out there.

    Even so, I still wouldn't do it. It's better to let people learn, become better & progress in the end game, than have everything be a dumbed down faceroll.

    Don't do it.

    Random trivia: when WoW started dumbing down, it lost millions of players.

    Though I want tough content, I would welcome a small nerf to Mantikora, but not to Serpent. My thoughts are that Mantikora is a huge stone wall for general public. I appreciate difficulty, but would rather that difficulty progress rather than stone wall front door....2 amazingly easy fights....then Serpent.
    I love the Serpent fight, and find it to be scaled almost exactly as it should be on live. NO nerf needed there. However, you create this content for people to play and making the Mantikora the hardest fight as the FIRST fight simply does not make sense. Get people into the content...progress the difficulty. Otherwise, confidence of the learners is deflated quickly right in the front door. This leads to a bit of elitist attitude when forming SO groups (I am guilty of it at times).

    I might have agreed with this last week. However, given the announcement in the podcast here (http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/150509/devs-confirm-vet-levels-here-to-stay-until-sometime-after-console-release/p1) about their being no new endgame content until after summer, I think ZOS should not be nerfing anything in Sanctum Ophidia, including Mantikora. It needs to maintain all possible progression to make up for their being no new end game content for a long time.

    Question to the OP @Alcast, in what regards has SO become easier?

    Is it the Mantikora or the last boss? might the reason behind that be the new ultimate-generation? Just curious.

    Oh no, I'll never complete trials with my nightblade now.
    I'd better shelve this character with the changes to ulti generation

    Agree. However I don't think any nerfs have been done in PTS yet because of the latest QQs in PTS forum. Just people have not adapted to changed skills and scaling. The competitive players adapt and overcome quicker and find that there was actually no nerf but buff.

    Once we start to see builds from competitive players I'm sure people start to see also that there has not been nerf.

    Nope, he is 100% correct. We got to the Serpent yesterday pretty much just lollygagging with lousy builds and no clue, Manti and Serpents health modifiers is merely 5x so they go down fast even with bad builds. We wiped on the Serpent because we used up our resses since we still suck a bit on the PTS, but we shouldn't have been able to even get there..

    SO is nerfed.

    Serpent on Live: around 4mio hp
    Serpent on PTS: around 17mio hp

    That is nowhere near 10x LoL

    And on top of that, although we have LESS spell and armor resistance, Mobs and bosses deal less damage. Also AoE effects of mobs do a lot less damage.

    Gear is totally fine. If you refer to the crit then dun worry. You got now a 10% base crit and you can get another 12% from the CP system...so they HAD to nef it otherwise you would see ppl with 150% crit lol

    Did you miss the part where they nerfed it to oblivion?

    Compared to live, the gear has:
    Vicious Ophidian
    • 10% less enchantment value (used to have 10% more than crafted)
    • 17 (171) weapon damage, used to have 22 (220). Hunding's Rage still has 29 (299).
    • 4% less crit.

    Infallible Aether
    • 10% less enchanment value (used to have 10% more than crafted)
    • Now only 5% reduced armour/spell resistance from set bonus, instead of 10% as before.
    • +58 (581) Heavy Attack damage, down from +83 (830).
    • 4% less crit.

    You see, they changed a lot more than just the crit values on sets.

    Being in Hodor, you probably know that most of these sets were barely worth using on live, now they're just flat out suboptimal.

    Something you can craft in 5 minutes with zero effort is better than something you spend hundreds of hours to collect.


    But hey, it's PTS. This is why we're testing, to make sure mistakes like this don't make it to Live.

    If the bosses are to deal less damage, why did the Tank get 1 shot? Vid timer 2:23.

    Seems the tank had to have been around 98% healed and then wack, dead.

    I didn't say crit is worthless or unavailable. What is worthless is the Sanctum gear and trials gear in general because the meager crit on it isn't worth putting on. It'll be much more viable to take your 12% crit from the champion system and your base crit and then put on spell/weapon damage gear with it.

    Thanks for testing this seeing as no one cares about SO now anyways since the gear is garbage. Also you clearly have an attitude problem to get on my case after I was like wait my bad I'm wrong. Cool story bro.
