Devs confirm Vet levels here to stay (until sometime after console release)

Also confirm no new content till after summer. Just a few highlights that annoyed me:

- no plans for small scale pvp
- no plans for new endgame content
- when asked about evasion tanking the developer said he "doesn't like missing."

Focus is on the cash shop and new buyers. Standard B2P/F2P practice. OGs get shafted.

This means they are never going away. It would be very stupid of them to include them in the console release, and ever remove them.

Depressing news about VR, not surprised nothing new for at least 7 months .. ESO won't have advanced one step in any measure except for an incomplete Justice system for a year or more by the time something does.

Oh, another point that was annoying:

Can you fix the UI to allow us to open more than one window (skills + inventory, etc.)? No - maybe someday. I mean, they can completely rewrite the UI for consoles, but allow PC users to have normal, modern functionality now that we don't have to share UI with consoles? Nah, we're way to bizz with that cash shop, homey!

All i can say is that i hope they pick up the phase after console release. Theyve been focusing on fixing broken systems for a long time now due to the game being rushed. Being a nearly one year beta tester since launch i feel the interest will lower if they dont come with the hard content. Now till august+ is too long in an mmorpg world.

Well, if Vet levels stay, your gear doesn't get changed. At least there is that. The vet level mats don't go stale either.

Now that they've admitted they won't be out before console (June), I would be quite surprised if they ever remove them. More likely they'll get rid of the term "veteran level" and just make everyone v14 level 64. Then they'll probably just increase the level cap as the game ages.

So no plans for the most-requested features for the game? i.e. things that would make both PvP and PvE players happy?

They just added VR10 recipes in 1.6. Vet levels aren't going away anytime soon.

TBH what bugs me most about veteran ranks is not their existence, but their number. 14... Why not 15, 10 or 20? 14 just feels wrong, incomplete , like there should be more coming.

About the (repeated) confirmation of no new content being planned for the next year or so: I guess the positive side of the change to b2p is that we won't be paying subscription fees to do nothing but feed horses, research traits and maybe do some writs for that time.

You should be thankful they aren't removing veteran ranks. You think 1.6 is a big change? Removing veteran ranks would be even more of a monumental challenge. Everything about ESO would have to change. Every weapon set, every jewelry set, every armor set, all quest rewards, all food, all drinks, all potions, everything would have to be redone and balanced. I'm sure ZOS knows this and that's why it's going to be a long time before that happens, if ever.

Yeah, remember the game started with VR10. They had always planned to just up the VR as they added higher level content. Then subscriptions plummeted and they realized people hated VR, so all their plans changed.

Yep. Miss that. There's a reson most MMOs increase their level caps in increments of 10 or 5.

Generally, I have been optimistic about the direction and development of ESO, but it seems like ZOS has dealt a real slap in the face to PC and MAC users.

PC and MAC users have essentially been used to forge the way for a console launch.

It is horrible from my perspective as a fan of TES and ESO that content, and game systems can not be developed and that the potential of the game cannot be realized because now it seems like the console version and the PC/MAC version are tied together and frankly the console version will shackle a lot of the potential that could be realized on PC or MAC.

My feeling is that the development team has been duped by some marketing or business exec in the company and now their hands are being tied. I met Paul Sage and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy who was very concerned about producing a fun game.

Discussions have been going on since the beginning of buzz about this game about whether the game development will be slowed down by being attached to a console and it seems like the answer is YES.

Very, very stupid move on ZOS's part.

Veteran Ranks are a nuisance and shouldn't even be in the game in the first place. They do absolutely nothing except for causing massive disparity issues in PvP and segregating content.

Is it so hard to implement something like level scaling, especially considering you're using it in the DLC zones? There are other ways to provide a sense of progression besides inhibiting content by levels.

The question is: Why didn't they realize this from the beginning? Surely the players can't have been the only ones to ask "What will happen to VR gear, mats and consumables?".

    And another thing . . .

I would actually be okay subbing to a game on the PC and MAC even if developers are constantly evolving the game and even if it means the PC/MAC version looks and plays a lot different than they console versions.

The console versions are naturally dumbed down because frankly console are not as versatile as PCs or MACs and there aren't as many possibilities.

Give the TRUE FANS of the genre something to sink their teeth into on the PC/MAC and REWARD us for subbing to the game that we thought would stay a subscription based game full of the some of the original content features and plans that were advertised!

Welcome to the reality? Some people will say you are trolling.

Vr wont dissapear. In fact, they will be more "important" once you can buy a level 50 char with crowns or by buying.dlcs. Oh yes Im mad and Im just trolling.

Not sure why this is a surprise to anyone. They said a long time ago, before they released the information regarding the console release and b2p, that 1.6 was only phase three of the champion system and that vet levels would stay until phase four.
Not sure where anyone got they idea that vet levels were going away before 1.7 and phase four (1.7) will not be released until after the consoles are released with 1.6.

You know, what I hate more than these stupid VR levels is the absolutely ridiculous content ZOS wants you to climb through to get there.

I'm an EP player, because I really, really, really give a crap about saving stupid Emeric's stupid life for the first or third time.

By the way, since I'm on my soapbox, DC quests are actually really good (no, I don't want to do them for a second or third time...), but Hallin's Stand and the last quest in Cadwell's Silver involved Septima / Emeric is so poorly thought-out it flows so frustratingly. "Hrrr, hrr b4 u go nto my camber u need 2 find sum srolls and put them in oRder n front of mee!11" "Hrr, hrr u need to match kolors b4 i giv u my blesing"

They should just remove the term "Veteran Ranks", add one more level and increase the total level cap to 65. That way there's no need to redo the gear and item progression, and we get a nice complete sounding number like 65 instead of 14.
