How to steal everything in update 1.6 and never get caught.

Just tested a hunch that I had ,and it worked perfectly every time.

If your character is a Nightblade then you can steal with a 100% success rate by turning on auto loot stolen items. The next step is simple, just crouch next to the item you want to steal and then go invisible with Shadow Cloak and auto loot the item.

So far I haven't been caught. So it looks like the NightBlades will be the masters of stealing.

When you think about this it perfectly logical, but I bet it get's nerfed because it makes stealing so easy.

I also tried going invisible while pickpocketing, but didn't get chance increase, so maybe someone else can verify this.

Every time someone figures out how to capitalize using a racial bonus or skill the skill or bonus gets nerfed in an update.

If ZOS think this is an unfair advantage, then what's the point of having different races in the game? If you want to steal and not get caught then create Nightblade alt, simple as that.

The NightBlade's are sneaky and should make good thieves.

Khajiit are indeed sneaky and would make great thieves, but a 100% success rate sounds to me like a bit too much to be honest.

    Nerf Khajiit stealth.

    Bosmer stealth is fine.

If you don't use auto loot you always get caught if the sneak icon is fully open. This is because the invisibility doesn't last long enough for you to manual loot the item.

I like to point out that 90% of the items on the Auridon docks are easily to loot without going invisible, even with the sneak indicator half open, as well as many items in the locked houses. Once you go into a house, just crouch and start stealing.

The technique, I posted is for those areas where the NPC's are standing next to an item you want to loot. Other then that, anyone can easily loot every container in the game, it just takes a little more time, but not much if auto loot is enabled for stealing.

There is a difference between invisible and stealthed (hidden). As far as I know, the only way to go invisible is with the 2.5 second NB skill and with potions.

If you are talking about using Shadow Cloak or invisibility pots while quickly looting containers within that 2.5 seconds of pure invisibility, then that may be something for them to address.

Imma hop on right now and test this.

Yes, I was using Shadow Cloak and then quick looting when in full view of NPC. '

I don't see this as a problem. You want to do this, then roll a Nightblade.

Khajiits and bosmer have the same stealthy bonus but if you look at the stats they're not as powerful, and you could get just about the same stats wearing a nightshade set.

If ZOS did nerf this stealthy racial passive then thatd be an outright stupid move considering we have racials who give 10% more magica or stam, which makes a difference in other game systems.

Right, instead of fixing the bug they just nerf the ability or race.

Now that we've finally found a use for Shadow Cloak, they'll probably nerf it into the ground.

Too much ESO and not enough sleep. Thanks, I edited all my posts, I was referring to a Nightblade using Shadow Cloak with auto loot.

Sorry everyone for the mix up. Time for me to take my meds and go to sleep.

Ok I just tested this using Shadow Cloak and it's a legit issue. I just pillaged every unlocked container in the Wayrest bank right in front of the guards (well within detection radius for stealth) and didn't get caught once. As long as your timing isn't off and you can loot the container during that 2.5 seconds, you will not get caught ever and you can stand right on the boots of a guard and do this.

I think this needs to be addressed before 1.6 goes live. There needs to be SOME risk involved, even if it's slight. I love playing a thieving rogue in the justice system and this takes all the fun right out of it.

This isn't about stealth bonus's from class or armor. This isn't about tactics. This is about abusing a class skill for 100% chance of success. You could do this with a naked level 10 NB all day long. It's certainly an exploit.

    I will submit a /feedback on it.

"Auto loot Stolen items" is a feature in the Game Settings. Classes are not relevant. The issue is being able to stand on a Guard's feet, use Shadow Cloak, and auto loot stolen items w/o being detected.

I don't think they will need to change Shadow Cloak. They may want to remove the "Auto Loot Stolen Items" option. it would make this tactic more difficult. On the other hand, you could still probably spam your "loot" key and get the same result. Although trying to nab multiple items within 2.5 seconds might get you caught.

EDIT: Just tested this with auto loot stolen items turned off, and you can still nab everything in the container using your "loot items" hotkey very easily within the 2.5 seconds

They might have to just remove the programming that allows you to steal while Invisible and only allow stealing while either exposed or under normal Stealth Mode (hidden)

what about invisibility potions? would they do the trick as well ??
if I remember correctly you can make vr5 invis pots that last 4 seconds.

if invisibility pots work as well, then this trick can work for all classes. though have a longer cooldown ( 30sec, unless jewelry enchant) and ofc has a cost of gold or flowers.

If I remember correctly, wasn't invisibility (from spells or from potions) a viable way to get where you wanted to be, take what you wanted, or even kill who you wanted, without the guards ever taking notice, in all of the TES games?

What if spell weaving/crafting comes down the road and everyone gets to have an invisibility spell? No need to panic and nerf anything now...

If you want to steal then roll a NB. Why nerf our class skills? We have suffered enough in this game. NBs were practically unplayable for large parts of the early game. Anyone else who wants to do the same can buy or make invisibility pots. It would be really really wrong to restrict one of our key skills just because it helps us steal. Other classes have skills that help them get away from guards faster. Are they going to be nerfed too?

We're talking about lootable containers and white tier equipment, right? Are the items you can pluck off the ground or in crates really worth all the fuss being made about this slight advantage?

This was something I thought about when they first mentioned the Justice system. I find it hard to believe that with all their internal testing ZOS never realized that players would exploit the auto loot feature while invisible.

Yep I've been doing this very same thing for days now :) ..Also for a while I did have loot all on BUT, since you are limited to 100 slots (+passive unlocks) I opted to turn it off to only loot greens and above.

well if they do fix this then they best fix the actual problems with the nightblades stealth at the same time *two birds 1 stone* you know ^^ i mean i dont know how long i can play my class without it most valuable skill in the game for much longer but yea being a 100% chance no fail/catch rate is abit to much even from a nightblade POV
