How to steal everything in update 1.6 and never get caught.

You guys don't get it do ya. This isn't about stealth or lore. All of you fools that are laughing at me for discussing this, please explain to me how it's cool for a naked level 5 character to be able to completely bypass the entire justice system.

Tell me how it's cool for a character with no gear, no skill, no racial bonus's to be able to steal from a chest that a guard is sitting on.

Tell me how exactly that fits into the sacred "Lore" I keep hearing about.

I want to have fun with the justice system the way it was intended. Pretty sure it wasn't intended for thousands of low level NBs with no gear and no skill flooding the streets of every city stealing every item from every container w/o any chance AT ALL of getting caught. And that is EXACTLY what we are going to see if this isn't changed. And for the Record, in case you didn't notice in my video, I play a NB that I happen to love very much. This isn't some rally cry to nerf Shadow Cloak. It's about being able to enjoy the justice system like it was meant to be enjoyed.

ZoS would be foolish to go live with it like this.

A possible solution is to make cloak usable with gear and weapons equipped.
About the ability, this is the same at low lvl and at cap, just the duration changes.

Make cloak unusable at all during stealth is a problem for what I posted before.
Cloak - invisibility could be removed when stealing.

I presume anyway that devs thought about cloak/invisibility while creating the Justice system, so maybe it can be also intended.

If you don't think it's fun to use shadow cloak while stealing and have 100% chance, then don't use it. For those that want to use it, let them play the way that they want.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Every time someone figures out how to capitalize using a racial bonus or skill the skill or bonus gets nerfed in an update.

If ZOS think this is an unfair advantage, then what's the point of having different races in the game? If you want to steal and not get caught then create Nightblade alt, simple as that.

The NightBlade's are sneaky and should make good thieves.

Don't think that cloak can get nerfed any harder than it just not working lol. They'd have to remove it from the game.

Khajiit are indeed sneaky and would make great thieves, but a 100% success rate sounds to me like a bit too much to be honest.

Because stealing from containers is a low/no risk activity anyways. As long as the little eye says "Hidden" you can steal as much as you want.

It's not % based like pick-pocketing so you are not bypassing any built in risk, and it doesn't work with pick-pocketing, so most people just don't care that it can be done.

edit: I went ahead and made a fresh PTS non-NB character and hit my 50 items to sell in about 20 minutes. It was a mix of around 20 green and 30 whites. If I wanted I could have just kept going for all green/blue and spent another 20 minutes stealing.

A NB with Shadow cloak could have done it in maybe half the time. Who cares.

    News Flash:

You can loot every single container with normal crouch/stealth and also never get caught. You just have to have about 5-10 seconds of patience.

Every class can have 0 Bounty and max their allowed Fence limit/day. Stealing is moronically easy. Just don't be a spaz.

There is a HUGE difference between using skill points, racial modifiers, med armor bonus's, crouching and making a move when the time is right...

...and spamming a class skill with none of the above involved, and clearing every container in a bank full of guards in 30 seconds.

It amazes me how many people think it's cool to cheat. It's like this with every obvious exploit. People will defend them like it's their right to use them just because they are part of the game mechanics. Anyone with any common sense can see that this wasn't intended to be abused like this.

Yes, and the difference is a minute or two of time. That's it.

what about invisibility potions? would they do the trick as well ??
if I remember correctly you can make vr5 invis pots that last 4 seconds.

if invisibility pots work as well, then this trick can work for all classes. though have a longer cooldown ( 30sec, unless jewelry enchant) and ofc has a cost of gold or flowers.

First time making a video, so my apologies if it doesn't work at first. I may have to figure some more things out. In any case you can see in this video that Shadow Cloak makes you completely invisible for 2.5 seconds and during that time you can loot (w/o auto loot) the entire contents of a container right in front of the guards.

You will also see that I attempted to use some V1 invisibility potions that grant over 11 seconds of invisibility. Either these potions are bugged and not working at all (which seems to be the case and is a different issue), or they do not grant the same kind of invisibility that Shadow Cloak does because I got caught when I tried to use the potions.

This video is in no way supporting exploits, but my intent is for it to be used as a tool to report the issue. If this violates any rules, please inform me and I will remove it.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgSqirdy8eI&feature=youtu.be

So perhaps the best way to address this would be a program change so that you can only steal using normal Stealth (hidden) or while exposed.

Yeah but try pickpocketing this is just looting useless items

Easy way to fix this is to not allow interactions while invisible or at least break invisible before a loot attempt. Guards would notice a chest opening by itself. Shadow cloak is for evasion and staying out of combat, not for stealing.

You don't need any of that stuff. As I posted 2 up from you, a fresh character with no skill points, and not a NB can steal stuff quickly and effectively.

For the record, I don't care if they fix it, or if they leave it, because the overall time difference and risk in stealing (from containers) between the two techniques is very small.

That is just not true. I have been testing the justice system extensively on the PTS. My NB is almost Rank 5 Ledergman (however it's spelled)

She is a V2 Breton with 7/7 medium armor. Using normal stealth tactics (crouching, watching guards, waiting for them to patrol away etc) takes a fair amount of time and you WILL get caught if you aren't paying attention.

When she uses Shadow Cloak to steal, she can clean out a giant room like the Wayrest bank in less than a minute w/o even bothering to watch out for or even remotely care where the guards are. You can literally spam Shadow Cloak and steal from every single container almost as fast as you can loot them on the live version.. with 100% chance of success every time. Even if you are spitting in a guards face while you do it.

It's easily 5X faster and zero risk. Is that really what people want? Why even have the justice system then?

Ya know what this reminds me of? 30 people camping at zone dungeon bosses to farm bags full of loot and XP. This is no different. People defended that because it was a game mechanic, yet everyone that was doing it knew it was wrong and unintended.

See, for me if the place had too many guards I just ignored it and moved on, since there is stuff everywhere to steal. I didn't wait around, which makes it much faster.

I would like to think that also, but ZoS doesn't have a great track record for "fixing" abilities that doesn't end up breaking them worse or nerfing them into oblivion.

Question to ZOS...Why? We don't even have game balance but your worried about a class that IS a thief type. It just shows a NB cant be a thief type. It must be a mage..no wait that's a sorc, a healing tank.. no that's a Templar, a dps tank...no that's a dragon knight so I guess it is still a work in progress. But stealing in the game from trunks, barrels or baskets really needs to be adjusted because one class can do it easier. The answer should of been, too bad, not we are adjusting it. Can all other classes get the mage blink around the world also or the DK reflect or even the self healing?
