Turn the sound off? Turn the graphics down to low?

May as well get my old Snes out and play Street Fighter 2, it would be more fun...

That's up to you, but I had fun being able to play in Cyrodiil without massive FPS drops, invisible players, etc. I'm only posting what helped my own situation in case others are interested. It isn't clear yet (at least the last time I heard an update) when the graphics issues will be fixed, and many who are frustrated would rather take a graphics reduction to having the game be unplayable or needing to relog every 2-10 minutes. Many folks like to turn down the sound anyway and listen to music, but if that's a deal-breaker then this workaround isn't going to help.

It's more the graphics I'm bothered about. Low setting makes it look like a 90's game.

I'll just stick with PVE until it's fixed, but there is only so much PVE I can handle before my mind wonders. Good job there is a World Cup going on...

I would compare minimal graphics on ESO to Morrowind, so technically it looks like a game from 2002. :p I am going to try minimal graphics with sound on to see how much of a difference it really makes, since again I was just mixing and matching lots of individual suggestions.

The World Cup has been more of a roller coaster ride than usual this time around, but Brazil has to be worried about the loss of their star player as they try to win the whole thing for their home fans in the stands.

Sadly the ESO engine had serious problems the whole time, anyone using CPU/GPU monitoring tools could see that. But with 1.2.3 it simply broke down totally. In big fights GPU usage is down to about 13% and get 7 fps.
See my thread history for more detailed info on the subject, no point rewriting it all.

Zenimax need to fix the engine, so its better then BEFORE 1.2.3, just fix it so we are back to 1.2.2 is not good enough. The engine does not fully use the GPU, and not even fully use 1 CORE of my CPU (OCed 3770). Even before 1.2.3 the highest GPU usage I have seen was about 70%, highest CPU (1 core, the highest) about 70%.

What is stopping the ESO engine from using fully even 1 CPU core?
What was done with the game engine in 1.2.3 that made it break down totally, and not use hardly any GPU resources at all in big fight, and on general perform worse then earlier?

I don't have the same issues other players do in Cyro, before or after this or that patch. The absolute lowest I've ever had my FPS spike down was 17 FPS and that was for about 1 second then it shot back up to around 28 while fighting inside a keep. The spike happened as I passed the gate threshold and pitch was tossed on the ground right at that moment. I realize MANY are having issues, I'm just not one of them, lucky I guess... OFC now that I'm saying this in print the next time I zone into Cyro I'll prolly perma DC rofl.

In the worst scenarios it's playable for people with good pcs, It just plays bad, but in the most chaotic situations for people with bad pcs, it can reach virtually unplayable.

If this is not fixed soon there will not be an ESO .... Even in the PVE zones there are issues with rendering and lag... People with 750 gtx's that have crap for FPS and mobs will not render... again this is not everyone or 90% like in PVP.... but it is a good minority.... My brother was a huge fan of this game... He got me to play and one of my good friends >> Now he cannot play because he cannot see mobs or players ... His CPU is just grinding out at 100% ... again no problem before the last patch...
BTW I am love this game but hate the constant patches filled with bugs and issues... The number 1 thing that you need to work on right now is performance of the game ... I would call in all of my people and say " stop everything until we get performance issues fixed"... People cannot play this game with 1-5 FPS .... period!

What is your specs on your machine Tintinabula? Specifically interested in the Processor...
I think the game engine is not being fed to the graphics card effectively ... I think other systems who have a graphics on the chip especially the Iatest intel series are see the least drop in performance ... just a guess really but Im still interested if this is the case......

I know of two people with Core Duo's and nice 560's 660's and 750's that having issues ... The specs on the game might need to be updated to a more intensive processor....

I am not running into issues in PVE but PVP its bad around keeps......

Are your monitors 120 HZ or 60 Hz?

..I'm starting to wonder if the players not experiencing the extreme lows most of us are because their monitors have a higher refresh rate.

The first huge mistake they made was using the *** Hero engine. This engine cannot be fixed. It is one of the cheapest and worst gaming engines in existence. Why they chose it...is beyond me

    60hz L.E.D. Monitors.

EDIT: Understand I do get the occasional dip below 20 FPS but even at keeps during a siege I tend to average 28-34 FPS. Although I've never had the 0-8 or so FPS that some have said. And open world + Delves in Cyro I'm shooting over 60 FPS regularly.

the only time i have a problem with fps is when there is more then 5 - 10 people around and fighting. once i enter a crowd of 5 - 10 or more people then i drop from 120 fps to immediate 1 or 2 fps. its the fighting and crowd of people that i see is allways the main reason. i try relogging over and over but untill im away from crowds it will persist and not stop.
    - and by the way, its only when that crowd is fighting, because i will be with a group of about 50 people and i get 120 fps, but as soon as there is pvp and fighting happening then i drop immediate to 1 or 2 fps.

If that was true then EVERYONE would equally be screwed with low FPS in Cyro, which isn't the case. In fact it seems PCs of 2-3 years old (but decent machines, not potatoes) are having the best luck pre and post-patch. Come up with something more original next time and let the rest of us try and hash out what might be a cause outside of the software itself.

That right there sounds like ability animation is causing the issue, just like it does in Rift. Unfortunately for Rift, they've never been able to fix it (like in Conquest).

well then why did the game work perfectly before craglorn? I alphad this game for almost a year and there was never an issue like this. A little bit of lighting?..a new area?..something that's recently been introduced is the culprit.

agreed, because i have NEVER had a problem like this before and i been round since beta back in september 2013. infact i was in huge HUGE battles in pvp that were alot of people onscreen and all i saw was a drop of maybe 120 fps down to 30 or maybe 20 fps but this thing we are seeing is only since the last lighting patch like 2 weeks ago.

No it isn't. There's TONS of threads on this forum of people complaining about FPS in Cyro long before the lighting upgrade. I can't say if any go back to pre-Craglorn time but they certainly go back weeks at least before the lighting improvement.
