The actual history of Wabbajack, as I understand it.
-- AD never had a significant lead for any length of time. The good AD guilds were busy dominating other servers.
-- DC had a substantial lead early on. No offense to anyone, but my understanding is that this was in part due to exploiting to gain V10 early.
-- The DC players/guilds involved in the above bullet point received a time ban. When this occurred, EP TOTALLY dominated the server for a short while (a week or two) As it turns out, just long enough to come back to close to catching DC in score.
-- DC came back, and it was hotly contested. Shortly thereafter, tons of players started flowing into Wabba from every other server. AD became much more of a presence, and the fight has been raging in (relative) balance ever since.

Plus ZOS is probably gonna spend a few days/weeks dealing with all the bugs/exploits from Tuesday's patch :P

Well, it was Fixate who was the killer most of the time. He was tanking but managed to have a very low banner cost - and he used it pretty much non stop.
So, really it was two DK's with talons / banners and nicole dropping AE on the DK's that was killing everyone.
Pulsar spam is the "new way" to counter zergs - or run multiple boxes.

So... how did AD capture Chim Scroll without getting Kingscrest to unlock the Gate?
And I know it's not "they waited inside", it was closed for at least 5 hours before the Scroll was taken. AD's never waited more than 20 minutes inside after the gates closed to try for the Scrolls.
